The 1980s marked the peak for entertaining action movies and "Commando" (1985) is one of those classy flicks, where the audience can stay at the protagonists (Arnold Schwarzenegger) side, while he is off to kick some butts! Accompanied is that feast for the fists by a highly energetic and synth driven score from James Horner. Hi, Fred! After a promising start with the colorful " Battle Beyond the Stars "( 1980 ), the difficult task of doing something different from Goldsmith in " Star Trek II... "( 1982 ) and the spetacular mixture of lyrical and mystery in " Brainstorm "( 1983, one of his best works ) - all ignored by the awards - , Horner ( which was never well received by critics, which is an absurd injustice ) decided to return to " Faltermeyer style ", based on synthesizers ( just like Alan Silvestri in " Delta Force " ). Unlike Silvestri ( who created a catchy score with a rousing main theme ), " Commando " sounds more like noisy pop/ rock concert than movie music. But than it was fashionable at the time ( " 48 Hrs. ", " Beverly Hills Cop " ) and is worth remembering. In 1986, Horner would return to his great style ( and his first Oscar nomination ) with " Aliens ". Well... Thanks again, Fred, and nice weekend!!
Fanastic soundtrack to a fantastic film that is a great easy watch. It's a film classic, but the punchy soundtrack gives the film energy and one to listen to, to also get yourself pumped up when doing exercise.

Nous devons le ressusciter, rajeunir Arnold, Dolph et quelques autres, et surtout faire réapparaître ces putains de bons scénaristes qui faisaient simples et génial à la fois ! MARRE des films et séries wokes sans le moindre intérêt si ce n'est de rendre la société malade et dysphorique..

One of those films than can be watched multiple times and never get old or boring, same as Southern Comfort by Walter Hill.
James Horner was the best. All of his compositions were memorable and fit the needs of the story.
The steel drums from "48 Hrs"! truly the most macho score Horner ever wrote.
Never realised that before, they sound the same!
