Thanks for bringing this to my attention! I’ve been looking for a portable cheap console for my gameboy roms but held out because I didn’t really like the ones that were out. This one definitely appeals to me, and I have bought it! :)
Phillip Nguyen it feels nice and games play ok. Some have a little lag, but my main gripe is the light bleeding on the top left edge. But playing Sonic 3 it played perfectly. Genesis Street fighter 2 lagged but they put the pal version...so gotta try another game. PC Engine Rtype and Street fighter ran awesome and look perfect on this screen. Still annoying with the light bleeding into the top left screen. If it’s a defect only on my system, then it’s the 2nd system to have a defect from bittboy.
This is a comment that I dropped on ETA Prime's channel: To answer everyone's question about what to purchase between the Bittboy PocketGo and the LDK Landscape, I'd put it this way. The Bittboy PocketGo and the LDK Landscape are both open source, meaning that better emulators can be ported to the systems with CFW (Custom Firmware). Yes, the LDK Landscape has 4 times the RAM that the Bittboy PocketGo has, but like ETA Prime said, 32MB is enough power to run the supported games. It is entirely possible that Yoshi's Island struggled because the emulator that came preinstalled with the Bittboy PocketGo doesn't support the Super FX Chip games. But that could be easily fixed with CFW, because a better emulator can be ported to the device. The LDK Landscape also has an analog stick (joystick), but in my opinion, I don't see the point of it. Even if the LDK had the potential to run N64 games, it still lacks a C-Stick and a Z button (but it does have X and Y, but still lacks the C-Stick). I have no idea what the analog stick could be used for other than that or Doom and Quake and I suppose Arcade. Most people are gonna want to play retro games on these devices and an analog stick isn't the ideal way to play most of them, unless the original console had a joystick. The LDK Landscape is on sale for $61.99 and you get 4 times the RAM and an analog stick. The Bittboy PocketGo is $39.99 and can do what the LDK Landscape can. If you think the extra RAM and an analog stick is worth the extra $22, then purchase the LDK Landscape, but if none of that matters to you and are patient enough to wait on a port of a better emulator through CFW, then the Bittboy PocketGo is the better option. The Bittboy PocketGo has a lot of potential and that is why I purchased it. I have 4 modded 3DS consoles and never thought I'd buy anything like the Bittboy PocketGo, simply because the 3DS is far superior, but something about the Bittboy PocketGo made me want to go outta my way to purchase it. Maybe it was the outstanding price of just $39.99.

I love these videos so much and watch them all the time. I kind of wish the music the videos start with were more quiet though. I always start a video and get my ears blown out so I turn it down, and then I have to turn it back up just to hear him talk.
Bittboy Pocket has screen tearing(only 30fps Screen)... lower sound quality... and much lower performance... the buttons and the digital cross are lower quality. The LDK is in another league... If you change the stock chinese batteries to good quality BL 5c 1200mAh you get 5-6 hours gameplay! Tested it with Patona batteries

The ldk ist even better than the pi zero... and with good quality 1200mAh batteries(not fake stock) it lasts so much longer than the other systems (5-6 hours). Biggest problem of all the Bittboys is the screen tearing coursed by the 30 fps display... while the ldk has 60fps display and therefore no tearing at all. I owned both systems for testing but i will sell the Bittboy... 1. LDK 2. GPI Case 3. Bittboy

If you want 100% gameboy design than rather try a GPi Case. I prefer the LDK odet GPI. Better performance....Charging while playing... with good quality batteries twice as much playtime(5-6 vs 2-3 hours). Batteries type BL 5c are very small. But buy a glass protection for the LDK TFT. It gets scatched fast. They sell extra protections for it.

Was gba emulation same as or better than the pocket go? You didn’t show much gameplay in the pocket go as compared to this (ldk). I was gonna do bittboy pocket go but heard there may have been some screen tearing/frame drops on GBA emulation
What is the point of an analog stick if it can't play anything that needs it? Cool bonus I guess, but the bittboy PocketGo looks like a proper built system, this looks home built.
Looks really nice and a lot more comfortable. The clear version looks really nice. I'm liking the written review too. The GB games look amazing, but I don't think the tech is there just yet for larger games
A lot op PSX roms do run on this, at least: they do on the LDK Game (the "not horizontal version"). Most 2d run just fine, like Castlevania or Suikoden II. Just boost the CPU a bit (to 680 or so) and enable automatic frameskip. Most games in 2d run at 50fps that way :)
Glad to see your content has been improving over time. I enjoy that you're comparing to other simmilar value and build quality handhelds. Your titles though, could be better. It's not a gameboy advance mini. It's a portable emulator. Dont mislead your audience, be honest. We all know it's an emulator, you know it's an emulator.
Wait, the final version won't have a headphone jack? That's a huge deal for me. Specially since the images in their page make it seems like the video output jack is the headphone one (it even has the headphone symbol). If it doesn't that's really disappointing.a
I ended up ordering the PocketGo just because it looks so smexy. Always wanted a Gameboy Micro, but they're expensive now, and the PocketGo is like $40USD and just looks gorgeous. I have no qualms about pissing away $40 on a toy, even if it just ends up sitting on my shelf.
Anyone else finding their LDK Landscape crashing constantly? I've only had mine for 3 weeks and as yet I've not been able to really play anything as it constantly crashes and reboots itself.
Ldk horizontal is inferior to the original ldk. It does not have the ingenic ‘b’ chip. Therefore the overclocking speed can only reach about 630, the b chip can get to 750.....ability to run better quality and more powerful games

looks better than the bittboy except for the screen brightness. it appears that the bittboy screen is much brighter but has screen tears. I think Im going to go with the LDK
@@sharkboy980 I already went for Bittboy Pocket Go, will be interested to check it out. While its worse performance wise, it compensates with the design+ most of them don't seem to handle PS1 games so i'm fine with it. The screen tears i believe is the only big problem with it as you mentioned, but tbh i think with software updates it can be fixed.
@@tiamka6676 LDK original is a little cramped in an adult's hand if you wanna use the shoulder buttons. But the position of the Start and Select button on the new horizontal LDK, are so close to the ABXY buttons that you're likely to be accidentally pressing them or constantly thinking about not doing so... The joystick is more of a gimmick than anything else and so... LDK is the way to go especially given the ease of use with regards the CFW and personalization. PocketGo may be more comfortable and win in the long run if/when the firmware is updated.

LDK feels considerably more sturdy. Screens on both are comparable. Emulation for both of mine were really shitty when they arrived. Prepare yourself for the task of installing custom firmware.

Is there anything that plays the cartridges and is better than the revok101 plus? Like one that plays gba gbc and GB games. Please dont say the actual hardware I want something bigger but has a pixel perfect screen
Unfortunately, as of right now, that does not exist. There are options out there, one of which Brandon has already reviewed, that can play them in their native resolution with the game not taking up the whole screen. Honestly, a DS is better than any of those though, and far, far cheaper.
Not sure why they have the AV cables included since, on their website, it says the Landscape LDK cannot connect to TVs. Turn that into a headphone jack
Well there is a GBA SP version of the RS-90 if you are into that sort of thing. From what I have read on some forums, it already had CFW installed and runs CPS games and GBA just fine.
Definately a PSP, a PSP Go or even better a PS Vita of course! (all of them with a custom firmware installed) You can emulate nearly all of the older consoles, plus they can run PSP and PS-Games (plus Vita Games on Vita) at full speed. Its the best way to go for portable gaming, trust me.
So is Pocket Go GBA emulation playable enough for the cost difference or for GBA should I go with this. I’m not SUPER picky about a few stutters I just want a decent experience for GBA

I have a gbm in the vehicle with me now and I'm still grabbing my bittboy. It's easier to charge otg withy normal chargers. I have a rom card in the gbm, but the bittboy plays more systems. It really is kind of a toss up when I own both but still grab the bittboy. For anyone who doesn't own a micro, this costs half or less.

Yes, this woulda been perfect when i was a child. I love the original gba but this one looks like the shape and size would have been alot more comfertable an more efficient as a child.
Bittboy PocketGo because of the form factor. Even though the LDK is a more powerful handheld, it's not worth the extra $22 in my opinion. I don't need extra RAM and an analog stick to run my favorite retro games. It's more portable and it looks more premium. The LDK looks a little cheap. Kind of like a toy. The Bittboy PocketGo just looks incredible. I'm sure both consoles have potential, but the Bittboy PocketGo is the better option, because of the form factor. The screen on the Bittboy is a whole lot better. It's like Genesis vs SNES all over again. Sure the Genesis had blast processing, but the SNES just had a better library of games.
@@josephjoestar6337 Yet you don't mention the horrible screen tearing in the PocketGo which ruins everything, plus in a lot of places you can get the LDK for 40-35$ making it the same price as the PocketGo, if you know where to look.. The LDK is more powerful, and it has no problems unlike the PocketGo.
What about frameskip for the PS1 games? If you set frameskip to 1, does it become less stuttery at 30FPS? Are there any other emulator options you can tweak to make the PS1 emulation better?

I mean, a ags-101 gba sp isn't that expensive. Lots of 101 into abg-001 shell tutorials out there if you like the of gba form factor.

Wait, the final version won't have a headphone jack? That's a huge deal for me. Specially since the images in their page make it seems like the video output jack is the headphone one (it even has the headphone symbol).

You can plug the headphones in the video output... Or at least it works like that in the original ldk.
That's fine just use the av port. No one thinks you can do that for some reason but every av port I plug into is fine.

LDK for sure, better processor, 4x more RAM, better community support, no issues with screen tearing contrary to PocketGo.
I ended up ordering the PocketGo just because it looks so smexy. Always wanted a Gameboy Micro, but they're expensive now, and the PocketGo is like $40USD and just looks gorgeous. I have no qualms about pissing away $40 on a toy, even if it just ends up sitting on my shelf.

Is it easy to open? Because I'm going to need to rearrange the buttons to be blue, red, yellow, green, from a clockwise perspective.
The joystick will prevent you from removing the front face of the device and make switching the buttons difficult, but it is do-able. Enjoy!

Anyone else finding their LDK Landscape crashing constantly? I've only had mine for 3 weeks and as yet I've not been able to really play anything as it constantly crashes and reboots itself.

Ldk horizontal is inferior to the original ldk. It does not have the ingenic ‘b’ chip. Therefore the overclocking speed can only reach about 630, the b chip can get to 750.....ability to run better quality and more powerful games

looks better than the bittboy except for the screen brightness. it appears that the bittboy screen is much brighter but has screen tears. I think Im going to go with the LDK
@@sharkboy980 I already went for Bittboy Pocket Go, will be interested to check it out. While its worse performance wise, it compensates with the design+ most of them don't seem to handle PS1 games so i'm fine with it. The screen tears i believe is the only big problem with it as you mentioned, but tbh i think with software updates it can be fixed.
@@tiamka6676 LDK original is a little cramped in an adult's hand if you wanna use the shoulder buttons. But the position of the Start and Select button on the new horizontal LDK, are so close to the ABXY buttons that you're likely to be accidentally pressing them or constantly thinking about not doing so... The joystick is more of a gimmick than anything else and so... LDK is the way to go especially given the ease of use with regards the CFW and personalization. PocketGo may be more comfortable and win in the long run if/when the firmware is updated.

Is the screen the same as the older model? It doesnt look quite as crisp as the square one but it might just be a trick of the camera

So if you had to pick which is better the LDK or the pocketgo? Which has better screen and emulation, color depth? Why did you mention the build quality is better on the pocketgo?

LDK feels considerably more sturdy. Screens on both are comparable. Emulation for both of mine were really shitty when they arrived. Prepare yourself for the task of installing custom firmware.

Unfortunately, as of right now, that does not exist. There are options out there, one of which Brandon has already reviewed, that can play them in their native resolution with the game not taking up the whole screen. Honestly, a DS is better than any of those though, and far, far cheaper.

Well there is a GBA SP version of the RS-90 if you are into that sort of thing. From what I have read on some forums, it already had CFW installed and runs CPS games and GBA just fine.

Definately a PSP, a PSP Go or even better a PS Vita of course! (all of them with a custom firmware installed) You can emulate nearly all of the older consoles, plus they can run PSP and PS-Games (plus Vita Games on Vita) at full speed. Its the best way to go for portable gaming, trust me.

Both are absolutely playable, and both great GBA emulation. But if you want to be very very picky, the LDK is slightly better (no stutters).

I have a gbm in the vehicle with me now and I'm still grabbing my bittboy. It's easier to charge otg withy normal chargers. I have a rom card in the gbm, but the bittboy plays more systems. It really is kind of a toss up when I own both but still grab the bittboy. For anyone who doesn't own a micro, this costs half or less.

Yes, this woulda been perfect when i was a child. I love the original gba but this one looks like the shape and size would have been alot more comfertable an more efficient as a child.
LDK landscape vs Pocket.go Bitboy which one u preffer?
Bittboy PocketGo because of the form factor. Even though the LDK is a more powerful handheld, it's not worth the extra $22 in my opinion. I don't need extra RAM and an analog stick to run my favorite retro games. It's more portable and it looks more premium. The LDK looks a little cheap. Kind of like a toy. The Bittboy PocketGo just looks incredible. I'm sure both consoles have potential, but the Bittboy PocketGo is the better option, because of the form factor. The screen on the Bittboy is a whole lot better. It's like Genesis vs SNES all over again. Sure the Genesis had blast processing, but the SNES just had a better library of games.
@@josephjoestar6337 Yet you don't mention the horrible screen tearing in the PocketGo which ruins everything, plus in a lot of places you can get the LDK for 40-35$ making it the same price as the PocketGo, if you know where to look..

What about frameskip for the PS1 games? If you set frameskip to 1, does it become less stuttery at 30FPS? Are there any other emulator options you can tweak to make the PS1 emulation better?
I tested frameskip to 1 and 2. It improved slightly but it was still very jittery. Playable, but not enjoyable.
