All that's great, but I'm still wondering when they are going to come out with a notification pause like Ring has. Preferably a group pause so you can pause backyard camera notifications & keep front yard active. Notifications have become basically useless to me because my wife is constantly making me silence my phone because of all the useless notifications. I definitely agree with the different chime tone for cameras or groups, but until they get a pause button they are still almost worthless.
That would require AI. If you want AI functionality, pay more for the AI version. Adding this feature to the G series would also make them more expensive as they would need integrated TPU’s.
I would also like to see the ability to auto backup to a google drive. Would like to be able to store archives for a complete week (or longer) at a time using an auto method. Also the ability to store multiple cameras at once. Maybe even use the google drive to auto dump an entire month from a site as you run out of space on your NVR
I think selective archiving is still useful for sharing clips and saving to a storage medium out of your house. Automating what type to be archived would be nice as well but I can see people forgetting they have that feature on and filling up their Google drives to max capacity,
With the new Access Intercom and Access G2 Reader Pro there is a weird overlap going on between Access and Protect. It's nice that there is an integration to assign Protect Cameras to Access Doors, but I wish you could do it the other way to be able to open the door from Protect (eg when a call comes through a Protect Doorbell).
A schedule to archive important events like person of interest or license plates would make sense for security reasons for a business. Have an icon showing if the footage is archived or on your local cloud key.
Been running the EA for a week or so and love the gui update and Google drive. Wish the g4 cams had facial recognition though, kinda bummed they don't.
Great review. Yes you are absolutely right, the google drive (or even better dropbox) is a nice addition, but it is almost useless if it cannot be automated for specific events like smart detection or suspicious persons etc etc
Ubiqui should make a separate module to offload the ai stuff from the cameras. The computer power on a camera it’s too small. That way they are not constrained. Also people wouldn’t feel they are left behind with the old cameras installed. I suggest they sell a subscription to finance the development of the ai stuff to this new hardware. So if won’t improvements you just pay an annual subscription to the ai computer module. Otherwise we’ll have to be constantly upgrading the cameras.
Thanks for the super thanks! I agree with you I think that would be good to implement it that way. They will be releasing new cameras so will have to see
@@MTKOZ I think that's their current advantage in the market. Ubiquiti will need more robust features to bring them in line with market leaders, at least in security, if they intend to a subscription fee in the future.
Excellent update, Just updated my UDM SE. Works great, not really interested in google archiving not enough security, I just manually download them to my ProtonDrive. Cannot wait for next updates, Would love to see custom DNS shield settings.
same for me what you said about the google drive... what i love to have for google drive , is the last 10 motion events automaticly uploaded to my drive, as a security feature...if a intruder /housebreaker knows where my networkingrack is, its easy to grab that hdd...the actual feature is not really a feature to me. it more like 3 mouseclicks less than normal upload to my drive
Hi Cody, great video! I have two AI Pros and they are not picking up facial recognition or license plate detections. I already checked and I'm running the latest OS. Thanks for your help.
So wish Ubiquiti would launch the chime as a PoE device (separate to the PoE Doorbell), the plug-in unit is not great in the UK as it has a European plug.
Been running this in EA with running facial detection at a liquor store for the past couple weeks. Seems to pick up faces about 60/70 percent of the time, I may need to adjust the camera angle as the camera is off to the side on the main door. It does seem to do a good job recognizing similar people even when wearing different head gear and grouping them together. Putting in an Ai at another liquor store entrance soon, which will get straight on shots of faces entering, will see if it performs any better.
No! I just got done fixing my house back up after my POE doorbell install 😂. Hopefully any new AI Doorbell will have the same / similar mounting template
Now if they could just link the doorbell with Access, it'd be great. Been waiting for so long .. Agree that archiving being manual isn't great but it's probably just them testing it, I'm guessing they'll add automation options when they're confident in it. Presumably home assistant could trigger the archiving through the API on some events already. Now I just hope they add more than Google drive in there, a generic s3 target would be much better IMHO
If you're switching out all your cameras, and need something to do with the old ones, you can send a few my way. ;) Outfitting a church with some security cameras but they have no budget so it's taking forever.
How do we "enable" RECOGNITION in UniFi Protect. We have many installations of UniFi Protect at multiple locations, but the "RECOGNITION" button never shows up. We are on 3.0.22. Why are we not seeing this option in our installations?
Is there license plate recognition where you can give a unique name a plate so if a particular care that regularly comes in to a parking lot it would be named? (You can do this with faces I know.)
These updates are great, but we really need notifications updates. The ability to snooze notifications and the ability to only notify for zones please ubiquiti
for facial recognition, can i set the system to alert me of any face who is not an approved face, meaning without having to proactively go in and name a face that's already been recognized as a person of interest?
Hey Cody, I am a big fan of all of your videos and became a member recently. I need a quick advise. I just bought a house and had them wire with cat7 but the connecter they put is cat8 keystone is that going to fine or should I have them change the keystone to Cat7.
Hey thanks for the super sticker first and foremost. You should be ok with the cat 8 connected I can’t see that causing an issue. You could always request them to reterminate with the proper ends
Another great video Cody, was wondering is there any preference to using the Protect app on the UNVR or is it better to use the app on the UDM Pro ? Thanks keep up the good work.
I got a UCK G2 Plus running Unifi OS 3.2.12 and protect is running 2.11.21 but everything snows up to date (hit check button and no updates), does this new release not work on the UCK G2 plus?
Even a janky system like Eufy has facial recognition on all cameras and cross camera tracking. We need facial recognition on the doorbell cam and even bullet cams. The AI cams are 399 each jeepers.
They had this at the very beginning of their new platform for non AI cameras and then took it a way, for a while I thought I was daydreaming... but nah, pretty sure it was there and regular cameras are capable of doing this too
@@MactelecomNetworksThey did, one of their very first releases, then they took it away, left me double guessing myself for years, 100% they did, even better with G4 Pro cameras, I have to see if can find the screenshot I took back then, doubt it but yes, that was a thing
Maybe with the CK2+ and uninstall network on that so only protect is running. To note the. 2.5HDD and doomed battery are pretty limiting in my opinion. Got fed up of HDD failures with recommended drives and just got the UNVR
The upload to Google Drive shouldn't be automated. Think about it if it were local downloads that were automated. Your storage, or cloud storage, would fill up super fast. Having it manual means the process for saving footage remains the same, just to a different destination. If you want to automate it, use Home Assistant.
@@MactelecomNetworks Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I don't like services automatically saving files to my storage, whether local or cloud. I like to be in control of that. True. Maybe pushing to a nas and setting a threshold on storage
The Google Drive might be the first step to disaster recovery/off-site backups. I expect more to come.
