I had to laugh at the memories this brought up when I did the 2 different custom setups on my truck. The one thing you will love in the winter is ten second defrost at any point while driving down the road and turning the a/c on. I am glad you got this installed just in time for winter.... "Bolts right in"... now you see why I went custom DIY LOL.
I can't believe anyone gets snarky with you, your smooth jazz voice just puts the mellow in your soul, plus you do things well and with good parts. no sympathy pain, just nodding in my recollection that I've done the same and worse. i'm shocked your channel hasn't grown faster.
Where did your trinary switch install? Any concern with flipping your dryer over? Can it dump crap out? I have never seen that done before in any vehicle.
The shroud is a major pain in the butt. I'm glad you did this, so I don't ever have to! LOL! I guess I'll just have to suffer in the heat of Washington. Blessings on you, brother!
Check your refrigerant it may have oil in it already so you don’t wanna overcharge your oil. Also you might want to check your heater hose clamps under your cab they look like they might poke your refrigerant line of the while you’re driving I’m sure you probably already checked out but just in case you don’t wanna blow your refrigerant line that would make a mess.Great job. Really like watching your channel.

Hey, Your doing that all wrong:) you can pull the upper shroud without pulling the lower if you remove the air pipes on the drivers side also. Just did it a few weeks ago:) in your case, other than being there to catch the fan clutch:) , it was probably way better to get it out of the way. Excellent as always Chad!
Wow, it's no wonder you're broke. Ouch! I know AC is one of the things that will make long trips bearable but the idea of doing an LMTV right really adds up. I have scaled back my plans to a fairly capable SUV and a small off-road trailer due to budget and just fitting my lifestyle better. I would love an LMTV but the more I see, the more I realize why Earthroamers cost so much. I hope it's not hurting you too bad, I would be crippled.
Chad, what refrigerant did you use? My LMTV seems to have lost charge. I bought the vacuum so hopefully I can locate the leak and it's something simple. It's a MME truck. I'm not sure if they installed it or the previous owner.

Chad, I want to bypass my low pressure switch so I can check the charge. My compressor does not seem to switch on. Is that the low pressure switch on the dryer. I cannot seem to find a diagram for the reddot anywhere.
The low pressure switch should be between the purple wire in the 4 pin conector (pin 4) coming off the evaporator and the line going to the fan (or fans) on the condenser.

I have been looking at AC alternatives for a while now and I think after installing the 3.07 chunks, that’s my next upgrade. While you were researching alternatives did you look at any semi truck 12 or 24 v systems?
Yes. I looked at cruse n comfort, classic air and about half a dozen APU systems. Couldn’t get an single APU company to sell me one for DIY install and none of the dealers I called had time for a custom install. So I ditched the APU idea.

I was talking to Midwestern Military and they said they are ready to market an AC they have developed that fits in their console. They said they’ve been testing it and it’s easier to install because it works with the existing heater. I know this doesn’t help you, but it may help others who might stumble across this comment. They said they start advertising it before the end of the year.
That looked like one ginormous pain in the ass! You'd think a truck that size would have more room in the engine bay.... but of course as you've already figured out.... that thought is entirely wrong...LOL.
on the engine mount / AC bracket / Trans heat exchanger.... could the heat exchanger bracket go on the outside of the AC bracket so no spacer is needed on opposite side
Also, on my truck, my cooler bracket goes all the way up to catch 2 bolts, so you would have to hang that entire mount with 1 bolt until you could reinstall.
Hey Chad, hope you’re enjoying your holidays. I’m in the process of installing the evaporator and there is a single pin wire that goes to the fording switch. Is that the fan off switch on the dash?? How is that connected? Thanks
Yes it is. You’ll see which one it goes to when you look at the back of the fan switch. Mine only had one empty terminal. I’m so used to pulling the dash every time I touch the truck I guess I forgot to put it in the video.

Awesome my 1089 was bought with a AC option 6000k extra it is a 120$ kit better to build your self.
I want to move my radiator now. The fans are so loud mounted behind the cab.

I just had a mental image of the lower fan shroud catching the fan clutch and chucking it into the radiator. Just gave me the shivers. :)

I used R134a. You’ll probably need 3.2 to 3.4 pounds depending on your system and depending on your pump maybe about 8oz of PAG oil.
The type of refrigerant should be listed on the side of the compressor.

And yes there should be a high pressure switch and a low pressure switch on the dryer.
My dryer only has two wires coming out of it. Two spade connections. Is it safe to assume that's a low pressure switch?

I had to google this. I’m going to say no, as I seem to recall an expansion valve in the cab unit. But I’m probably wrong.

I took another look. You could probably bend the bracket out a bit and trim it to fit with a grinder. But the spacers are probably less work.
