More entertaining battles too

Ha.
Big oof right there
The fact that Kwan was contemplating on shooting Soren when down, even though he risked so much to help her shows how unlikable of a character she truly is. It's a pain to watch this character in every episode.
The fact that she could incapacitate even a washout spartan 2 with an electric shock is bs
That had me really mad when I was watching and had the same reaction. Dude just lost his only way home to his God damn family, who took care of you, and you are *really* considering shooting him? Fuck off, Kwan
I wanted her to do it. Just so I can hate her more đ€Ł
@@QGarrison We even saw before that they seemingly don't stun, even when dudes were beating a child to death with it. Sorren is now weaker than a little trash boy
She is the textbook âstrong female heroâ who is more a villain. Because writers nowadays donât know how to write a good character.
Kwan is like Pavlovâs dog at this point where Iâm just pissed the second sheâs on screen. âI will fight even if Iâm the only oneââŠ..sheâs just some stoner who gets everyone killed
I will sigh a breath of relief when she dies. But she won't. And I bet she will end up defeating vincher and liberating madrigel. Very predictable story.
Kwan is my most hated character in halo character. At second place, there's halo 4 shouting captain
@@sierrachief117 i understand this sounds awful. but at least vishner is concerned about the covenant. Quan worried about space taxes or something

Calling it again, Kwan will ultimately end up being the reason how they find Halo. I just have a feeling in my gut about it. She turns out to also be a "Blessed One"...
Is it that predictable đ€Ł
Sheâs blessed alright. Blessed with the stupid.
Didnât she touch the artifact in the first episode too? Maybe Iâm forgetting but thatâs because I really donât care about this subplot. I donât know the point of fighting insurrectionist when there are bigger problems.
come from the future, Kwan contribution to the show is still in the "filler" category
The chief/helmet thing is the most annoying part of the entire series.
The art of faceless acting is amazing and a character like Master Chief is literally the best person to use for something like that.
They should have got a creature actor to do it, those guys tend to be massive too, like the guy who did the Predator or Chewbacca
There's bound to be a young guy around who's into that work
If yout wondering why its because the actor pablo shrieger who plays cheif says he hates wearing the helmets
@@RealAlex2035 then why tf would he audition to play master chief???
@@ryan7102 exactly my point
@@RealAlex2035 That's when they should have found a different actor!
If every scene involving Kwan was removed and replaced with shots from across human space showcasing the war to give the audience a sense of the scale and brutality then the show as a whole would be much better.
I was gonna say: I was originally under the impression that she would only be here maybe 1-2 episodes and that they'd tell other characters' stories and shit.
The fact that they're dragging this on as much as they are is pretty fucking pointless, and the amount of plot armor she has is egregious. She could've maybe been an interesting piece of world building, but instead the writers are just interested in making her a mary sue.
They really need to kill off Kwan. That's really the only story line I don't like. They can keep Sorren too. Keyes, Halsey and the whole UNSC story is fine as long as they don't overdo it. The show is definitely getting better and i had a feeling it would.
@@captainbuzzkill4658 I would rather see her liberate her planet just in time for the Covenant to destroy it all so she sees how pointless it all was.
Kwan is the kind who picks a gun and point it on herself. When that time comes and she have no cards left, she should be asked; If you really think you are to blame then shoot.
@@trackstew21 Hell it's already pointless. They turned their backs on the revolution and her family is all dead now. I don't see what she's every trying to save. It's just revenge at this point.
"Will they block?"
CBS: Well it depends, is it a positive review or a negative one?
We understand their ways better up there
The part that made me laugh the most was when the elite was kicking Kai while down like bro didnât have Any other weapon if it was the video game Kai wouldâve been stabbed by an energy sword way before chief came
The Jackal's took all the swords for themselves.
When Cortana said âSwitch to secondaryâ And chief put his magnum away to grab his AR I laughed so hard. Halo CE stuff definitely and can't believe I'm saying this....I actually cheered when the Grunts and Jackals showed up. I thought they looked amazing. The Jackal swords were friggin cool to and that one that tore through a bunch of soldiers made my jaw drop. The Brute showing up sealed it up nicely. Looked fantastic. The Banshees, the Phantom, Chief sky jacking was so cool and kwan's boring story for sure is the worst.
I like that they showed how deadly grunts and jackels can be to anyone thats not wearing mjolnir. But i cant stand the fact that they show 3 or 4 banshees take down a unsc destroyer without a problem. Then they have a covenant cruiser show up like 2 min later, so why wouldnt they just have the cruiser drop in and take out the destroyer with some plasma torpedos?
@@Simonsays90 that a good point I didn't even noticed that till you said that, like that how bad the write it, cause we all know 3 or 4 banshees can't take out a unsc destroyer that easily, less the write forgot about it
Jackals don't fight with swords. They run from melee combat due to their frail bodies and hollow bones. That is why they are snipers and carry those shields. Just more paramount/343 hating the original Bungie lore.
I was so confused by his AR being the secondary. These lads and lasses never even watch a gameplay video of the game??? Sheesh.
@@F-L-O-F-F-A i assumed it was a nod to the magnum being by far the best gun in the first game. Even though theyd start you with an AR with a magnum, i'd immediatly use the magnum and only switch back to the AR if i ran out of pistol ammo haha
Young John is nothing like he is in the show, in the book Fall Of Reach, he's seen as a spunky schoolyard brawler that's approached by Halsey, to test him. After he gets kidnapped, he takes it mostly in-stride and takes it upon himself to help the other kids around him, you know, because he is a badass, even before he was kidnapped. Not some bright-eyed artist that needs their memory wiped to make him loyal, the kids are told what's up; that they've been conscripted to fight the insurgents and are conditioned through training to be soldiers. It's more realistic and more compelling than the predictably sophomoric plot of "we can control them...oh no, we lost control of them", bullshit we've seen over and over. Please, read Contact Harvest and Fall Of Reach, they're a good encapsulation of the Halo world, the PRIME timeline.
Fall off reach is one of my favorite books
Makes me sad to think people will think this show is from the books.
@@nomad2305 Same here, those first three halo books were all so good, but Fall of Reach was the best.
Itâs so much more interesting for the kids to actually know why they are going through this fucked up process and how dire it is.
Literally no room for the survival of humanity without these kids being tortured and mangled itâs naturally compelling. Like the Witcher process.
Iâm sure they know about that timeline, I think the developers and writers just said âf*** that war is evil and training children to be soldiers is always wrongâ because they have a progressive ideology and donât want to get into the actual complexity of the gray issues showcased in the novels. This show is written with the maturity of a 13 year old who doesnât understand the complexity of war and skipped straight to âwar is badâ.

I doubt I will see Contact Harvest adapted to a high quality series in my life time unless everyone in charge of Halo are finally purged.
@@alexanderrobins7497 No because Contact Harvest was retconned by 343 the moment they took control. The old lore was that forerunners were human ancestors in some form and there was no stupid precursors. "You are forerunner" Contact Harvest no longer exists in lore.
@@MilesTraveler
Anything Joseph Staten or Eric Nylund did for the Halo franchise and lore are vastly superior to what 343 Incompetencies has done. Even 343i are finally starting to distance themselves for their abysmal failures and mediocre experiences from the past.
I still donât see why Contact Harvest is not cannon, nor why should these shit directors care since they hate the Halo franchise as much as the founders of 343 Incompetencies.
@@alexanderrobins7497 the reason contact harvest is invalid is because like the original games it directly shows that the forerunners are humans or human ancestors. The 343 garbage just has them be random aliens.
Those two concepts have totally different implications, as well as the fact that the whole war was originally because humans existing invalidated the religion of the prophets.
Is this a Good show? No.
Is this a Halo show? Muscle deep only.
Is this a Solid show? I've seen B-budget Movies with more solid plotlines.
Could this have been a good Original show if you remove everything related to Halo? Doubtful with how bad they screwed up an already crafted world. Then the chance of them being able to make their own is LOW.
This just goes to show they could've been doing Halo properly from the start, but they knowingly, willingly chose to do it wrong. Very, very wrong.

We could have skipped literally everything that happened so far, and made this battle episode 2 on madrigal extracting the original artifact, and literally nothing would be lost
Which is why it's poor writing
If you can take out certain plot points from something and it doesn't change the story in any way, you shouldn't have included it in the first place, like the Rose/ Finn plotline in the last jedi, it did fuck all but waste the viewers time because they didn't accomplish anything. I was excited to hear that Halo was getting a show, now I'm wishing I was still waiting for one. And it can be argued that I still am.
The thing that drove me crazy in the battle, was the plasma weapons producing normal explosions when hitting the ground or targets that don't warrant it. The explosions should have been that beautiful gaseous greenish blue that plasma bombs and plasma canons tend to produce in the games.
You're nitpicking man. The battle scene was fucking amazing.
@@SeanUCF if they're gonna spend the millions they spent, it should be done right. Hell, forward unto dawn had a fraction of the budget of one of these episodes and was more accurate and consistent with the universe. As far as nitpicking, if I felt that was the only thing wrong with the show, I might agree with you. However the show is fundamentally broken on many levels, not just the mismatched explosions. The dialog and story felt as if they were written for a teen novel which contrasts against the adult vibe the show gives off with the gore and nudity. This makes the show lack in identity and character. When the only saving grace of a show is it's action scenes and they don't even nail those, that's no longer nitpicking in my opinion.
@@SeanUCF another thing I want to add, red vs blue, which is made by an independent small business compared to paramount/CBS, had better combat motion capture and animations for their machinima series than these episodes.
@@93gamrx
Well agree to disagree then, because red vs blue and forward unto dawn is amateurish compared to this. And yes, the story was less than desirable for a Halo show, but they absolutely nailed the action and battle scenes.
@@SeanUCF you think this had better combat choreography? Looks like agreeing to disagree is our only choice then. Yes, this looks prettier, but RVB (later seasons, not the beginning obviously) and Forward unto dawn were more accurate and interesting on every level.
Again, the action scenes overall were okay. What I vehemently disagree on is that I don't believe those scenes were enough to make up for the rest of the garbage this show made us watch to get to it. Out of 9 episodes we got maybe 30-ish minutes total of actual good halo action & combat (that still wasn't very good or extremely good, let alone perfect). That, in my opinion is a waste of cbs's money, my time and a waste of all the halo fans hopes for a truly good series.
For me, this story is unsalvageable trash. I hope I'm proven wrong, I want to be proven wrong. Though I doubt I will be, 343's projects don't have a good track record of impressing me.
Q: How many times will I watch a version of this video to support our guys?
A: As many as it fâing takes!
Correct.
If they hate these videos so much maybe they should make the show not deviate from the source material
Or at least give us a compelling story
"But that's haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaard"
well they would have to experience the source material to even have a clue if they are or are not deviating lol
Never gonna happen, gotta be woke lefty baby
@nemo pouncey wait, what same thing?
Why the battle sequences were so good? Because they were outsourced and created by a VFX studio. Although writers probably wrote in a battle, it'll be the VFX supervisor and artist's vision that made it happen. It's not the writers who imagined how this battle played out, it'll be storyboarded by storyboard artists at the VFX studio and planned out by the VFX Supervisor, and then created by the 3D artists. So don't give the writers any credit for that battle!
14:57 Bro when she threw that bottle in the little tantrum I said out loud âwas that your only water, dumbass?â
Yo Joe for some context regarding the kidnapping of kids and the spartan program you mentioned at 7:30 the 150 kids chosen to be spartans were picked from billions of kids from all of the galaxy. Halsey had genetic markers she used to find these kids so it wasn't the case of just getting random kids to become spartans and out of the 150 only 75 i think survived. In the Book Halo Fall of Reach (highly recommend reading) she EXPLICITLY says to her AI who suggests brainwashing the children that she will do no such thing cause lying to the kids will cause a negative reaction (john getting mad and lunging at halsey in this show *facepalm*). She states that she would tell the kids the truth that they can't go home and that they have been selected to be spartans to save humanity etc, this show doesn't portray how smart or how much of a mastermind Halsey is like its not even close. She is Humanity's greatest mind and they've got her stumbling over lies to brainwashed soldiers jesus christ. Action was good tho, writing is atrocious.....
This Silver time line is literally a what if we completely changed Halo to a cliche brainwashing super soldier story with droplets of Halo ontop. If anyone has read this far, read Halo The Fall of Reach and you will understand my pain đ
Read Fall of Reach around the time it was released. So many awesome parts, really good book.
They honestly could've just interpreted the books and had an AMAZING show. Hell if they could've blended both the books and the games, it would generate so much hype and views, I highly doubt there would be as many complaints.
This show is a cancerous growth on the community and halo universe
iT's NoT cAnOn !!!!1
She didnt just lie to the kids, she also artificially suppressed their ability to feel so obviously when they start feeling emotions again and remembering the truth, the brain is hitting them with it all too hard and fast. It's like repressed feelings just suddenly gushing out like a waterfall instead of letting them process this all from the beginning so that those feelings pass like a river.
I have no idea how they could salvage this with such generic writing. They could've kept to what halsey did originally and then maybe explore how John came to ultimately decide his loyalty to the UNSC after getting the time to think about it. Maybe through dialogue with Soren-066(who also escaped the program and detested the UNSC in the original timeline) he realizes what happened to him was wrong but necessary considering the circumstances of the war and that he had to accept this sacrifice for the greater good. It's what happened in canon, and it's actually never been shown directly and in depth. That's good material right fucking there.
7:20 halsey is not like this in the books. There's actually more than a few moments where she feels disgust towards herself for the things she doing. And once again the pellets/mind wiping ARE NOT in the original halo lore
Halsey was never a monster...she was just cold and calculating and her calculations always told her that the Ends justified the Means. So she was always able to talk away all the terrible things she did to "save humanity."
@@inorite4553 she was in a way but at least she ABSOLUTELY LOVES her S-ll's because they're literally her children and every time one dies, she feels it.

Itâs been years since Iâve read reach but doesnât chief know he was kidnapped and willingly accept his fate when heâs older?

@@Boxman5618 he learned when he was in his late 40s to early 50s. By then, how do you change everything you've known for your entire life?
In the lore, Halsey isn't evil, she's pragmatic. Sure, the line between the two can blur, but it's not like she did the Spartan program out of some perverse glee to cause suffering to children. She knew it the best, most effective way for the gene manipulation and augmentation to take effect and she did it. That doesn't mean she liked it, even though she was immensely proud of all her Spartans.

The scene we did get, with Kwan sitting in the dirt and freaking out screaming - I was just shaking my head đ€Ł. Yep, that's Halo all right!
The whole episode was just over 40 minutes and then spent forever on that scene. It was pointless. Then she somehow buries herself in the sand and can silently sneak up on Soren.
I'm still so confused on why Madrigal is even still a place? The covenant have been there twice and know there is an artifact there, so you'd think they would kill everyone on the planet then excavate it.
I think they're meant to glass it because it supplies the UNSC with natural resources, like a motherlode
Also pretty sure there's meant to be the Siege of Madrigal
Legit I feel like there is no war between the covenant and the UNSC at this point.
Madrigal was one of the first planets to be glassed in the war. All of this bullshit is completely irrelevant in the grand scheme of the war.
I pray that Kwan will still be on the planet when it gets glassed.
I haven't watched the show but i think there is something to do with kwan or her father, from a writers perspective they have plans for that colony more I bet.
The thought of saving Kwan gives me Last Jedi vibes where Finn should have died by the laser and yet useless Rose saves him...
Paramount and CBS: We must have the Spartans constantly taking off their helmets so we can see the actors.
Fans: Spartans donât take off the helmet, ever. Especially during deployment.
Paramount and CBS: Why? What makes you the expert?
Fans: We played the games and read the books for starters. And enemy snipers are a thing.
The Jackals decided they wanted to use energy swords instead this episode.
They put a "kill switch" into the Spartans? Doesn't that make for easy* story telling...
Easy = Lazy
I feel like a downer but this episode actually makes me more bummed out because it showed the potential a halo show that actually decided to follow the first couple books has⊠That whole battle sequence was great from the epic scale of it, to the brutality, and even to the small moments like chief picking up and shielding a marine mid shotgun massacre. Just imagine what an actual Fall of Reach rendition made with passion wouldâve looked like.
Bingo...... There is potential here. I am happy with a different timeline to a point but I want the spirit to be up help. This episode was the first moment I felt it at least encapsulated the spirit, even if only for a brief moment. But the fact they fall short so hard, so often, makes it a lot harder a pill to swallow...
its not a downer to be honest. the ppl that constantly fanboy out to EVERYTHING is why HALO and 100 other IPs are just fucked. yea its negative. and everything is trash bc ppl are so petrified to say something bad and get yelled down. example: black panther was average at best, and the PS2 CGI fight at the end was awful. and this CBS thing... wonder what would happen if JOE was going to be on bad terms with FROM. would he fight it? CBS is a joke, so who cares? i wonder if younger ppl even know media used to be GOOD to GREAT. thats why the past is just being aped over and over, worse each time. do ppl not know wtf a torrent is. (not the horse, lol)
The effects were pretty horrendous ngl, especially for 10 million per episode but at least it was the most tolerable episode so far. Needs more action and less boring character drama.
Reach is still standing, it would be wild if the covenant girl doesnât somehow reveal the location to the fovenat to attack reach in the finale
All criticism is really good and makes sense but honestly people complaining that this is its own story and not a part of the games is just old now. I get that it would have been nice and cool to have something like that but it isnât. Many shows do this. Many shows that do this are better but that doesnât mean they donât do it. I hope the writing improves but I think this episode is definitely a glimpse of hope for the show to me
19:13 The Funding cut off thing is actually canon, in the origins of the spartan 2 program Halsey faced a lot of bumps, political and finantial, specially from colonel James Ackerson, who didnt lose any chance to let down her program and push her away from the spartans
The only good thing left out of this series is a Night Ops performed by random named ODSTs, faceless, destroying a covenant outpost to buy time for civilian evacuations occuring in a nearby burning series
That would really be the last good thing this series could do
When the season is over somebody should cut all the scenes with Kwan and call it the De-Kwaned Cut.
Goes from a shit show to just a bad show! Amazing
Been doing that since ep 2 - imo it takes the show from a 2 to about a 5 or 6. Much better imo, if they keep the momentum from this ep it may reach 7 (if you cut kwan scenes). As long as Kwan is in this show itll never be higher than 2 for me, ive never disliked a char or arc this much to the point i fast forward through all their scenes.
I love how purely objective Alex is in the reviews. He judges everything purely on merit and how good it is and he makes sure everything always returns to reviewing things as a whole and not getting tunnel vision on small things good or bad
The sad part is, is that its always been Joe and OJ from the very beginning and Alex came in waaaay later on.. Yet, I prefer Alex's opinions and way of reviewing them far more than Joe
Purely objective? There is nothing objective about coming into a show already hating it and nitpicking every little detail to find something to hate about it. Yea all the weapons are so MASSIVE. In the games you use two hands to hold the pistol and it's like half the size. Here, he holds it with one hand like an idiot and it is legit bigger than his helmet
Man imma be real pissed if Keys is the silver timelines "Sgt. Johnson" lol. Also just imagine how better this show would've been if the writers pulled from Halo: Fall of Reach. Or just throw in more things from the books and video games besides the silver timeline. It just boggles my mind how hard they missed the mark with this. Oh well. Oh, anyone else catch how that brute manipulated the forerunner artifact? Was he just using some kind of gravity repulser for the tech it utilizes? Food for thought.

@@SPARTANoh11 yea I realized that a couple of days ago. I'm replaying all the games currently. Just for fun.
Even the battle is really lackluster. It's just an open field. No terrain, no cover. Just soldiers/Spartans standing out in the open. If you try that in a Halo game on Heroic, you're not gonna last long.

In Fall of Reach Halsey is actually very resentful of the SPARTAN Project. She has a conversation with her ai Deja about how wrong it is. Deja then points out that if ONI sensed any weakness or hesitation they would swiftly replace her with someone who cared about the SPARTAN's wellbeing significantly less.
I'm so glad I found this channel. Adds a +5 to each episode rating.
The memory wipe was never even a thing in the main lore. It was even explained why that would be a bad idea. Thats just show material for the sake of conflict. Padding drama bullshit.

Joe Iâm pretty sure from the lore, they take the kids young because they do many body modifications, hormone therapy and even experimental type stuff. Also, kids learn fast and absorb everything. Thatâs why so many of the best fighters have been training since they were still in the single digits⊠Iâm just assuming haha
That, and theyâre much easier to groom and condition to be competent and obedient soldiers. This whole emotion suppressor and Cortana bullshit is something the writers pulled out of their asses. In fact, Halsey made a point of telling the kids why they were taken in the first place, as lying to them and altering their memories would see them turning on the UNSC the moment they found out.
@@Aredel Honestly I find it was a interesting comparison seeing what the other path now looks like. It basically proves that Halsey not Deja had the right idea on whether to be truthful or not.
@@Ahriman13 but there are ways of doing that without making the UNSC look like incompetent buffoons.
Iâll also add the point for augmenting children in the pubescent stage itâs to have the least negative side effects that an adult would experience.

That's exactly what they don't want.
I started the 5th edit last night on the way home. But because I've already listened to it like 3 or 4 times I just let it play in the backround while i played Halo Wars 2 with the boys.
I think kwan is going to become a spartan in a later season. If they go further in the lore she could be inducted into the spartan 3 program which used orphans from the war rather than kidnapping children.
Did anyone notice towards the start of the episode, the good 20 seconds where he actually acted like Cheif with the helmet. Didn't speak, just turned his head to the person and back. need more of that. The way they repeatedly remove and put on the helmet, makes the helmet itself seem cheesy and cheap. There's all this tech and electronics in the helmet and I feel like the constant removal and putting it should be mechanized considering the amount of times we rarely see this in Halo lore. They could've turned it into some Dead Space-type of process with the amount of $$$ spent on the series. It honestly feels like they have a Football Helmet on imo lol đ€·đżââïž
Have people considered maybe keeping the helmets on presented the show with too much CGI and not enough expression required for a broader audience ?
They can't attract a broader audience if it was focused on the game's features
@@theduke6174 I can see your point and can even agree from a production stand6. However that's where good body acting comes in with the case of the Spartans. Or using their signal language and seeing how others react to it allowing for context clues.
That in my opinion would creat a special bond with the audience through a shows' knowledge like how we can talk about Star Trek warp cores.
â@@theduke6174 Why would they need to CGI parts where he is mostly standing still or just walking around? There are phenomenal cosplay suits that cost far less than this show's budget is running.
As far as expression, did they also use that excuse in V for Vendetta? Are we suggesting the broader audience is stupid?
@@theduke6174 i would 100% agree on the attracting broader audience if it was focused on game features sentence if this wasnt a show locked behind a subscription paywall which inherently limits the broader audience argument
@@theduke6174
I considered your point when I first noticed the constant removal of the helmet, that maybe they wanted to show his emotes. 2 problems with this:
1. He barely shows any emotion anyway (as he should, because that's who master chief is).
2. Other characters and shows have been able to pull off wearing a mask/helmet either all or the majority of the time. Just look at the Mandalorian.
At the end of the day, there really is no excuse for him constantly removing his helmet.
Rewatched the final scene many times already now. Man, I was crying when the grunts finally showed up. (So wrong for a 42 almost 43 year old to be doing). But yeah, I always give TV shows, the 6 episode leeway. If they haven't done it right by Episode 6.. then I'm out. But I had faith.. and HALO tv series creators have pulled their heads in, by my favourite number. So bring on more!
I NEED that overlay you put on the "halo" footage. Quote marks because CBS might take down my comment like they took down any consideration for the lore and vibe of *insert game name*
Each episode has itâs own thing that makes me go âI take it back, *THATS* the dumbest thing Iâve seen so far.â
A spartan having a fucking mental breakdown in combat? What the fuck?
It's bc they made the dumbass decision to have the spartan 2's have emotional inhibitors implanted in their spine that the can just dig out and remove. These are supposed to be elite soldiers that were indoctrinated starting at the age of 6, they shouldn't have needed inhibitors of any kind.
Yeah that made me ultra cringe, there's so much stupid shit like that in this show.
I think it's reasonable to assume the reason that happened was because she had recently removed her pellet. She had never experienced emotion before and didn't know how to handle it. That behavior isn't normal from a spartan nor does the show paint it that way. And I'm sorry but nothing can top the fking energy sword fingernails

I'm just going to say: A good story is more than a single battle. It sounds like 50% of this show is trash about characters that have nothing to do with the story of Halo. They had _plenty_ of material to tell a good season one using just the first game. There was zero reason to include all of this in this season. A second season? Yeah, you could have started to explore MC's past then and it would have had more impact because you 'know' who he is from the first season.
But no, not a single Hollywood writer has the humility to faithfully adapt someone else's work. They _always_ have to change it to the _their_ version of the story.
Humility. Good word choice.
Bingo
Fuck it, i'm gonna make Halo in my garage. Its gonna be a million times better and CBS/Viacom can suck it.
its more like 80% of the show is trash than 50% from my viewing of it so far. The ending of this episode was soooooo freaking annoying. Cheeks is standing in the middle of a battlefield (one thats potentially very very dangerous) and takes of the most important part of his armor willy-nilly...again
@@CenrelianGuardsmen I thought I was the only one who noticed that... Why do they think they need to constantly show his face?
@@CenrelianGuardsmen Yeah, that tells me that the writers really do not know Halo at all. It's just slavish adherence to the tradition of making sure the main character shows his face as often as possible.
I wonder if it's in the actor's contract that he only has to wear the helmet for a certain amount of time per episode.
1:23 I wouldn't be surprised if by the end he's put it on and off 117 times...
Chief taking his helmet off and or putting it back on would make a good drinking game, with how often he does it per episode xD
When I saw "finally a battle" in the thumbnail, i thought it was referencing his battle with CBS
Kwan's storyline is pointless. Nothing would change if she died on the first episode. The covenant should have killed everyone on that camp. Master chief should have followed the order to off her. Soren doesn't owe enough to master chief to keep getting screwed over by Kwan and keep her alive.
The AJS Vs. CBS story arc has been interesting to say the least. Whoâs plot armor is thickest?
Wait until they find out Iâm a CBS mole, AJS double agent, and an ALEXZEALOT
Sgt. Johnson will be introduced butt first, with his famous cigar wedged in it.
So I read somewhere, twitter I think, that they get paid based on how much screentime with their face they get so they have to take off their helmets.
Kwan: "I'm gonna be a revolutionary hero! Now everyone else needs to go fight for me, because I am completely incompetent.
Also, I am going to steal from and lie to people to get what I want"

Personally, I think Ms Energy Sword Finger is gonna be responsible for the fall of Reach, luring the covenant there to get the artifact.
I suspect that the actual Halo won't be until the final 5 seconds of the season finale.
I think you're spot on. I have the sense we'll get the fall of Reach in the final episodes
I sincerely hope thatâs not the case. Having Reach fall while Madrigal is still around is such a retarded decision that it would make Dumb and Dumber look like Shakespeare. The fall of Reach would need at least half a season to do it justice.
I know very little of this franchise. Watching the series, I find myself rooting more and more for The Covenant. Maybe that's a statement about poor writing.
@@johnow7 itâs quite akin to rooting for the monster in a horror film because of how stupid and insufferable the survivors are

This is the best episode, but the overbearing emotionality of the main characters is too off-putting. Seeing the chief charge at Halsey was too stupid for me. Had he just silently put on his helmet and walked away ignoring Halsey (maybe she'd try to explain the situation to him) would be far better. Filming it would be easier and we wouldn't need Cortana to stupidly betray him by shutting him down.

This episode was frigging awesome! Love where the series is going. Everything is moving in the right direction. Kwan is still way too early to whether she factors in the story in any real way. This episode had amazing action. Love the banter developing between Cortana and MC! It was hilarious when MC ran out of bullets in the pistol and Cortana's like, "switch to secondary weapon" and MC is like, "I know how this game is played." 4th wall!!!
It is actually turing into a good show. Problem is when there is deep lore in source material you'll never make the die hards happy. I'm a die hard and will say it's not perfect but it could be a lot worse.
it is odd that there are so many people willing to betray a supposedly 7 foot plus killing machine and expecting a good result..
Oh, woman Spartan is too emotional? That sounds... *Problematic.*
But in all seriousness, the writers clearly don't understand at all what Spartans, and Chief even more so, are SUPPOSED to be.
The stoicism isn't because their emotions are suppressed, it's because they're trained to keep their emotions in check at all times, to keep their cool under even the most extreme pressure.
The reason for keeping the helmet on all the time isn't to be mysterious, it's to be a symbol. It's the same reason they go by Spartan-(Number). They're meant to be mythic figures, well beyond normal humans in every regard.
This is why Spartan 2's are so revered, in universe and by the fanbase, and why Spartan 4's aren't as beloved. It's because while all Spartans are super soldiers and heroes, Spartain 2's rise above hero status. The Spartan 2's, and especially Master Chief, aren't just heroes, they're SUPERHEROES.
That's why we don't like them having these stupid human faults, and human drama, because they're meant to be BETTER. And the writers show even more of their incompitence towards understanding this with Kwan.
Kwan was added to give us a more "human" perspective, which means they at least partially knew that the Spartans are supposed to be beyond humanity to a degree that they can't provide that perspective. But they undermine that immediately by bringing Chief down to the human level anyway!
When I see this Chief I see an emotional, flawed human being with superhuman abilities. And that's just not what Chief is! He's supposed to be beyond that, a mythic figure that embodies the best of what humanity can be.
> " When I see this Chief I see an emotional, flawed human being with superhuman abilities. And that's just not what Chief is! He's supposed to be beyond that"
Yes, they are supposed to be beyond that, but they aren't, and the times spartan IIs emotions and personality shows in lore is what makes them infinitely more compelling. Like Chief's character being explored in 4, Infinite, and the books. Despite usually appearing stoic because of his demeanor and hidden face, his voice, words, and body gestures are used to suggest and show what he's feeling.
And the issue with the Silver Canon is how the creative team *only* glanced at the characters lore and personality, and only focused on *just* the names of things for a quick half-assed cash-grab story.
I like the line when cortana tries to tell Chief how to fight and he says I know how the game is played
Fuck yeah guy's . Thanks for the hard work. I'll keep watching no matter what. Keep putting em up we got you.
