I enjoy these little menageries of a day in the life of Laura.
It is a wonderful balance to the amazing pond build, experimentation with environmentally safe alternatives to sprays, the long awaited rock paths, the brick patio, the garden furniture installs, the amazing growth of flowers and children, the addition of Douglas, Koi and a shark!
I’m so glad you and Aaron have the inquisitive minds, courage and determination to show us all these amazing projects. I know you’re a team of many amazing and talented people and I appreciate you all.
This is hands down the best channel on CZcams, in my humble opinion.
Oh - and this community - Chef’s kiss 😘
I agree with this 100%!
Agree!
Agreed!❤😊
Absolutely. She's the only gardener that I watch. I can tell she truly love what she does. ❤
Way, way, way agree!
I can only imagine what the pioneer woman had to go through to put a meal on the table ! 🌺💚🙃
The freshly milled flour is in essence whole wheat flour and therefore denser than the all purpose flour that you would buy in the store so you need to adjust when baking. Also, if you don’t bake bread very often and have a lower protein flour you can buy vital wheat protein (both King Arthur Flour and Bob’s Red Mill sell it) and add to your recipes. It will boost the protein content of your flour and help with the rise, texture, and crumb of all your baked goods.
❤
Cool tip! Thanks!
Thanks for the 411. 😊
Great info. Thanks!
That is great info..😊
From the Philippines, good evening everyone!!!
Hello!!
From Mindanao.
Good morning from Minnesota
hi Laura ..You can use the leftover from sifting flour, this is called broken wheat or bulgur. Which you can cook with vegetables. And you can add it bird seeder ..birds love it.
@MahimaChawla, I was going to say that the chickens would love it!
Omg, I did know that! Thank you for sharing 😊
Wish I would have read your comment before posting that very question 🤦
The pumpkin bread looks amazing. The combination of flowers behind you is a must to repeat.
Good morning, Laura ☕️ Those topiaries are looking beautiful 😍. Well done on the bread 👏🏻👏🏻 Happy birthday to Aaron’s mom🥳. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
Is Aaron MOMs name also "Sue"? It seems Laura's MOM is "Susan" tho.
Hello Laura, a quick tip, if all you have on hand is regular milk, simply add teaspoons of vinegar, or lemon juice, to make the amount of buttermilk you need; it is a very quick process.
1 tablespoon acid to 1 cup milk, ammiright?
The reason for this is because the baking soda used for leavening needs acid. Buttermilk is your acid ingredient. So if substituting other milk then you need to add acid as noted!
It works very well.
My Mom did that all the time. You could not buy buttermilk in our neighborhood store.
Great advice thanks!
Here’s a hint: Saco Buttermilk powder is a wonderful product! Stored in the refrigerator it is mixed into dry baking ingredients, then water is added. It is a game changer to always have on hand. A lucky, loved grandma will enjoy not only her family, but also her flowers. 😊
Yes, I always have that on hand - it works great!
makes great cookies!
Same here. Especially if I'm low on fresh milk
This was a fun video. I love tagging along with you as you do your day. I also wanted to thank Ken for his choice of music. I appreciate that he finds the tunes that "fit" your work. It just makes the whole video more fun and entertaining to watch.
Garden Answer always has good music, I love it!
Anyone else love Irish butter on pumpkin bread for a salty sweet breakfast?
Sublime!
🙋🏻♀️ 😋!!! 🧈
I love how Laura has evolved with gardening. The journey has led to growing wheat, with talk of raising more and using predatory insects.
Happiest of birthdays to Sue! I am sure you loved that planter full of beauty!
I guess you know we all love your son and daughter-in-law. They are such a blessing to us! Thank you for all you did to raise that boy to be the amazing man he is today. ♥️🙂🎉🙏🏻
This is so beautiful and I agree with you 100%. Happy birthday from me as well.
Soooooooooo true!
Happy birthday Sue!
I just lost my mother in law last week and we shared a love for plants and flowers so this video is extra special I would bring her a cut flower arrangement every week ❤ I just love the arrangement!!
oh, I'm so sorry.... May God hold you gently in the palm of His Hand ~
I’m so sorry for your loss. ❤
Condolences to you and your family. What a gift to have enjoyed that bond and have such lovely memories!✨💛✨
Very sorry for your loss
Your gift of weekly flowers must have filled her heart.
Now you just need to make the pumpkin bread with your wheat AND your own pumpkin! 😊
The plant pot looks beautiful, but the blue furniture looks even more amazing.
Hi Laura, It's a family tradition that every November, my mom, sisters and I make my Mom's pumpkin bread recipe (BTW she's 97 years young, still in good health and bakes with us). We add a topping to ours which is the best.... 1 cup of chopped nuts (pecans); 1/2 cup of brown sugar; 5 T of melted butter. Hope you try it!!! Love, Love your channel!!!
That topping sounds good!
Could I add raisins to this bread with that topping? Yum!
I've added chopped dates to pumpkin bread, no reason you couldn't add raisins!@@tammywinter9268
As I watch every video I see different areas of you garden, like looking out of the Hartley window, just how beautiful your garden areas are becoming. All the pathways, the sitting areas, the pond, etc. and all the beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers. You are doing an amazing job.
Laura, the personification of The Little Red Hen! "Who will help me eat the bread?"
Hi Laura! The pot and plants you used for Aaron's Mom, Sue, are so pretty together. I'm sure she'll love it! The topiaries are looking great. I'm glad you've been enjoying using the flour you milled. The pumpkin bread looks delicious! Thank you so much for the recipe, and for sharing your day!
I love you, sissy! Thank you for being an awesome sister and dear friend!🤗☀️🥰🌟😘
Happy Birthday to Aaron’s mom. I know she loved the planter you made for her. The pumpkin bread looked delicious. Have a great day, stay cool. It’s in the 100’s in north Iowa too.
The Little Red Hen would be so proud. Really makes you think about how hard it used to be for people to do everything they did to take care of their families back in the day.
Menagerie videos are refreshing! A little bit of everything= fabulous.
Will definitely try the recipe, thank you Laura!!
Good Morning over there, good evening here....^^
What a great gift, and delicious day, Thank's 😊
So nice to be in the Hartley again. Such a beautiful area.
That’s my favorite kind of gifts to get. I love plants I can reuse in my garden. 🎂🎂 tell her Happy Birthday for me.
Laura, I love your handwriting! Thanks for the recipe!
Good Morning Everyone. Beautiful plants and pumpkin bread too! Thank you
I want to see a repeat with fresh pumpkin.
I love watching everything you do outside in the garden BUT I SO enjoy watching you cook, bake and create! You are such a talented young lady and we the viewers are so blessed you share your journey with us ❤
LOVE the planter. I never think to pot up perennials. Not only a beautiful display to enjoy in the pot, but then they are able to live on in the garden!
Good morning, Laura, from Windermere, Florida 9b USA ❤
Nice that you are getting some of the rain from Hurricane Hilary. Nice extra for your property 👍
Beautiful planter for Aaron's lovely Mom❤
Nice recipe and my lips 💋 are dripping 😋
Happy Gardening Everyone 👩🌾👍
❤Peggy❤
The pumpkin bread looks amazing. I'm enjoying learning also from all the previous comments on the flour. Love how generous everyone is with their knowledge! Thank-you.
Happy Birthday to Aaron’s mom🥳🎂 It’s always such a pleasure to watch your videos Laura, be they long or short. Have a wonderful day everyone.
The pot with the Japanese Fern, Heuchera, Brunera, and Strawberry is so beautiful ❤
i can’t wait for fall! warm clothing and being able to plant again!
Love the pot of flowers; your mother-in-law will love it! I think it's fantastic that you made something that you grew the contents. Wow! Next thing, you will be opening your own store!
Well there ya go, NOW I need to bake some pumpkin bread!! Now to grow some wheat..
Happy Birthday Sue! 🎉 Love the planter!! 💚
Morning Everyone 🥰🥰
Love that you try new experiments for all of us to learn by.
So happy you didn't give up on the flour and figured it out. Love the flower arrangement for your mother-in-law. Great job Laura 👍👍👍👍👍🤗💓💕💞
I cannot tell how much I enjoy going along with you for day..just love it 😊
Drywall tape over the drain hole works great. Water goes out, soil stays in and critters are not allowed in! Doesn’t rot or rust. Lasts until the next planting.
Laura you are a Master Cramer! You can tuck a plant like nobody’s business!
A very beautiful perennial pot.............. a perfect gift!!!!!
The topiaries are really taking shape. (Once I got into the Hartley, I would have a hard time leaving). Aaron’s Mom is going to love her planter!
Oh man, Sue's arrangement gives me LIFE.
I agree 😍
That’s a wonderful perennial pot! So pretty! 👀❤️❤️❤️
Good evening Laura and family,
What a wonderful plant arrangement wrote down the name of the plants hopefully I'll be able to find them at the nursery here in town if no I'll take a trip to Amarillo, Texas. Your pumpkin bread looked delicious and I'm sure it was. The topiaries looked really pretty I'm going to try a rosemary. Thank you Laura for sharing, have a wonderful evening. Happy Birthday to your mother inlaw. 👋 🙂 🍞🌿
It’s fun hearing you talk about Aaron’s family. I don’t I know if I miss things about them, but I don’t know if I have seen any of them on video. I know most people don’t like being on video, so i get it. But I do like hearing you talk about them. Thanks! Gorgeous planter, too.
Combined gardening and cooking videos are so fun❣️
I definitely love and enjoy your cooking videos just as much as your gardening skills. Gorgeous flowers!
Mmm, that bread looks delicious! I've been milling Einkorn flour for about 3 years, and using it in all my baking. It's high in protein, but lower in gluten, and works well for gluten sensitive people. I make sourdough bread, and don't sift. It was a learning process, but I usually get a very bready lofty loaf, of whole grain bread. It's not like soft bread, but you can eat it without toasting it. Loved the plant bouquet for you mother-in-law❤
When I make pumpkin bread, I add dried cranberries and chopped walnuts. I also serve it with whipped cream cheese. Never last the day
💚 💜 Happy Birthday Aaron's Mom! I love how she keeps choc in her closet for the grandkids❤
Good morning! 🌻🐝
Laura, you could use the flower, pumpkin and eggs all from your garden. Pretty good
I LOVE your container combinations and flower arrangements!
Beautiful Laura ❤ Can’t wait to have my first slice of pumpkin bread this year! 🎃 You’re awesome, appreciate you! 👏 😘
Laura, I could watch your videos all day…I just love them! So informative. You absolutely amaze me in all that you do. Incorporating wheat in you garden was brilliant! The bread looked delicious. Thank you for sharing❤
Love the Hartley greenhouse!!!!! You have fixed it so nice. And the gift for you mother in law was beautiful!!!
I'm glad sifting helped. I was screaming butter when you cut that slice. Makes me think of pumpkin beer season. I love my "waking up with Laura's garden answer videos" days. I wish my plants would just stay alive and flourish like yours do. I'll keep trying. Good day!
Wonder if there's a use for the bran leftover after sifting the homegrown flour? Great job Laura, you've shown us that growing your own wheat and turning it into flour is achievable at home!! Look at that..... turning your harvest into pumpkin bread. Take a bow, 🙂😋👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
I never sift mine out. That's the point for me of milling my own wheat, to get the max nutrition from it.
For cookies or a cake I might sift. But for breads like this no. It makes the best banana bread.
@@BramptonGardener yeah, I knew that bran is the healthy part of it. Wondering if she shouldn't discard the bran after sifting it out.
Someone in an above comment answered this
Hi Laura I really enjoy watching you do floral arrangements and would like to see you do more. Love your blogs😊
Good morning from Papua New Guinea.
I enjoyed watching your contents. Great contents.❤
I watched with my daughter this morning. My daughter said " she flew her own wheat! And now she's baking pumpkin bread, and biscuits? WOW, I'm so jealous. She meant it in a good way. You know how the young people talk today.....😊
The plant pot looks beautiful
Nice sharing 😊
You make all of your plants look beautiful, Laura! So inspiring! Thank you!
How satisfying to bake with your own flour grown in your garden! Aaron's mom is sooo lucky to have a daughter in law like you!! ❤
Laura, the topiary trimming reminded me of Edward Scissorhands! 😆✂️✂️
I hope you grow the blue wheat you showed us as well. So much fun watching these wheat videos.
I also hope you grow the blue wheat!! I just bought a packet of those seeds to try myself 💙
You could have a red, white, and blue whear field.
Laura, you make everything look so easy…you are definitely, on your game! Wonderful video ! Stay safe!
Now I want some pumpkin bread. I like measuring by weight. So much neater and easier.
Lovely your handmade displayed garden pots
Enjoy when you occasionally add a cooking segment into the video. Looking forward to seeing construction commence on the pond patio and pathways, it’s going to look amazing! 🌿
mmmmmm, that bread looks so delicious!! what a fun day with lots of fun activities. and little Benjamin is so cute getting his snack. thanks for sharing
Another fun video😍Good evening☺️🇵🇭
Nothing is mundane, daily tasks, are beautiful to watch, ty for these great videos, I'm always learning something new, thanks to you. 💐
You can bake both loaves at the same time.
Looks delicious.
What a wonderful way to start the day Laura. I get to repot a couple of house plants today into larger pots. I love the plant Persian Shield and I always kill them. I promised this plant I would pull out all the stops to keep it alive and healthy so it’s growing well but gets thirsty really fast so today it gets to move to a slightly bigger deeper home.
Love the plant arrangement you made for your mother-in-law. What a beautiful gift. The pumpkin bread also looked yummy!
Such a fun video. Off to make pumpkin bread now! 🍞
I tried your recipe with my freshly milled spelt flour. For your reference and anyone else who’s interested I used 210 grams of sifted freshly milled flour. It was perfect. I made two on different days. Perfect both times. Thanks for the recipe
I just LalalalaLove the way you clean up afterwards! You Rock!! I do the same and am inspired by you in a BIG way! Thank You for being you!!💸👼💯
I was enjoying the music in this video this am 😂, couldn't help but feel the beat! love ALL your videos! Here in Winfield KS❤. #neverstop #gardenanswerforlife👍👍
It's been SO interesting following along with you on the entire wheat journey - from watching you plant it, to (literally) enjoying the fruits of your labor - and every step in between. Thank you for sharing that with us.
Never get tired of listening to your info while potting up plants, thanks Laura!
Love seeing how you use items you grow
I love the beautiful weeping willow tree behind you. You can cut some of the long willow fronds and wind them around each other to form a circle, in order to make a wreath shape, Then, wire onto the wreath some dried statice flowers, juniper berries, little eucalyptus cones, acorns, etc. Add a ribbon bow and you have a nice door wreath.
The pumpkin bread looks like a complete success. I wonder how will pasta will turn out? I have to say it’s just amazing that you made your own flour. That you know what exactly is in that product. To me that is truly impressive.❤🌺🌺🌺
Sue has a great daughter in law! Wonderful gift for her. I love pumpkin bread and zucchini bread-you should try it next. 😊
I'm so in love with those topiaries. Everything you do always looks magical.
Planter was very nice, and I love the topiary.
Beautiful pot for Aaron’s mom. I’m sure she loved it. Pumpkin bread looks really good. If you have a recipe that calls for buttermilk and you don’t have any you can sour milk with a teaspoon of vinegar and still get that moist consistency.
Love weeping willow trees
Planter turned out beautiful, I'm sure you Mother in law loved it along with the pumpkin bread. I don't bake but will be enjoying pumpkin season as always with pumpkin spice everything.
Absolutely gorgeous planting
Good morning Laura! The pumpkin bread looked delicious, makes me ready for fall! Hugs from N.C..❤️
I love this format. Because of you and your videos, I've asked my garden center to include cooking classes. They are going to, as well as art classes using flowers, ferns etc as "stamps" for painting
Good Morning, Laura I make pumpkin bread all the time. When I want a taste of chocolate I put a few chocolate chips in the bread. It taste wonderful. Have a wonderful day.
