Got this as my first car. Passed my test a couple of weeks ago. :)
Great first car and well done for passing your test
Barrie Crampton Thank you. The Corsa was quite a good choice indeed. Already comfortable with it. 👍
Swifter Productions just got one myself for my first car, around £1600
Swifter Productions i’m just outside of london, 63 plate, 43k on the clock but i’ve got a box :/ , it’s a 5 door too so that might affect the quote
Swifter Productions I feel for young drivers these days being fleeced over insurance but sadly you have the knob heads I mean boy racers of the same age group to thank for that!
I've been driving 30 years I've had dozens of cars over the years just bought a ten plate corsa 1.2 energy three door I'm well impressed drives lovely traded in a fiesta mk6 the corsa feels a lot better built not as nippy but the driving experience makes up for it . I much prefer the look and build quality of the corsa nice car .
After being involved in a Road Traffiic Incident with an Uninsured driver my Ford Fiesta Titanium was written off.
I then found this beauty for £4,000.
It was defiantly worth the money and I still drive it to this day. A beautiful car.
Got the same exact spec, added a touch screen however and a few other bits but can not recommend this car enough. Absolutely brilliant to drive, handles the nicest out of any car I’ve drove, extremely comfy for long distance, quick despite being a 1.2, doesn’t struggle on motorways at all with speeding up in higher gears, only time it has with me is when I had a car full of people, then it pulled back a bit. All the controls are perfect, work well and look good.
Absolutely recommend.
+WassellThatAbout I've been thinking a lot about this car lately, I was going to buy a Vw Polo 1.2 2010 TSI engine but I'm leaning towards this car now. I read in a few sites that you really need to work out the gears otherwise the car will feel sluggish, is that right ?
I'm also worried about the duration of the Timing chain, I've seen a lot of complaints regarding the chain failling before the car even reaching a considerable amount of miles.
WassellThatAbout bTAMLINEUS IS A WAY
you mut not have driven many cars the corsa of that generation is a wobbly mess
A vw or vauxhall is it even a question yh its a nice car but cheap parts cheap feeling cheap build quality with corsa need say anymore
What touchscreen? I'm thinking of getting one too
I bought this for my first car- I love it
Martin Bluck Great car im sure you will love it
Me tooo. I love it
I’m getting the 2012 1.4 SE 5-door model of the Corsa. I absolutely love this car. CAN’T WAIT!!!!!
really nice car, enjoy!
just done 500 mile trip today arbroath to heysham cost me about £60 in petrol, basicaly a full tank, thought it would be a bit cheaper, but as i found out today not the best on motorway
Yep, small engines work too hard on the motorway, I’m afraid you cant beat a 6 speed diesel geared to do 70 at just over a fast idle speed
I know that area😂it’s bamber bridge just outside Blackburn
George Downton just outside Preston and Blackburn, and possibly the world
and?
The corsa does seem quite solidly built, considering it’s from a design from 2006
great car, even going back to the Vauxhall Nova, we use to sell loads of them
7:09 made me giggle a bit 😅
i have my moments
Barrie the X5 is too harsh so I bought a Range Rover sport 2019
Lets hope I gets this car very soon 😍
Debating between a corsa with this engine, or a similar Ford Fiesta (both probably 2013-2014). If you could briefly summarise your thoughts between the 2 that would be appreciated? :) Edit: as a first car
both cars really good, i would go for a fiesta but thats only personal choice on styling and not mechanics, i would get the lowest mileage best example you can find for your budget, either the ford or the vauxhall
@@BarrieCrampton thank you!
Just got the identical car for our daughter. Lovely car but in my 38 years driving it has to be the slowest accelerating car I have ever driven. !
great little car but i have to say that i usually find them quite nippy, you sure everything is ok with it?
I have a Vauxhall corsa 2006 and I’m getting a new Mercedes Vito 2010 for longer trips and space
The Vito is a good van, you will like it
Very good car easy too drive comfy, would recommend cheap too insure
yep great little cars
Does it have a cigarette lighter thing where i can put a cigarette lighter that has a usb thing
Anonymous H yes it does
Did it have the inevitable clutch judder? 🤨
Fantastic love the car but at 6:05 you took the inside lane for 2nd exit which should only be used for 3rd exit onwards. Should've been in the outside lane for the 2nd exit. That's when accidents happen.
pressing the clutch fully down is ok if your stopping but if your going at a speed inbetween 1st gear and second you press the clutch down halfway in 2nd gear to prevent stalling while going at a snail pace in traffic. That's what I do it works for me
Optic500 I meant he was hugging the clutch for long at one point when not moving, foot was still down and in first, no neutral 😫
mybe he was stoping for like couple seconds but needed to be in first to move off quickly
Optic500 it is not maybe, it was for 1-2 minutes, you watch the whole video again and open your eyes kid, well if you do that, good luck to your servicing. Not gonna comment here again, so Goodbye ✌🏼
ok bye
Picking mine up next week
I want a corsa for my first car but i have a question i would be traveling from south wales to south east london on the m4 and m 25 once a month would a 1.2 be sufficient for that?
It would be ok, good little cars
I drove about 200km in mine recently. Not a bother to it. 100kmh for most of that journey and only used just under half a tank of fuel. You wont be overtaking in it but it feels quite solid even at higher speeds
Barrie I have a 2016 Toyota auris I sold it and now I have a Volkswagen up 2019 and a 2015 BMW X1 planning to get a 2019 bmw x5
make sure you test drive the X5 first, i think they are a really harsh drive but lots of people like them so could just be me
Hello Barrie, If you had to choose between this car or a ford fiesta 1.25 what would you suggest?
both good cars, i would weigh up which car has the lowest mileage, best service history, nicest condition etc and buy that one, but if there was two cars almost identical in price and condition then i think the fiesta shades it
You say shocking gear change, but I have 2014 1.4 SXI Corsa and the gear box is the same. I regret not buying Fiesta but all I could afford was shit Corsa :p (cheapest car in UK)
Cheers for the heads up....
Fords tend to have the best gearboxes, and Vauxhall’s for a smooth ride
AndyPandy33 it’s because the GM F13 gearbox is like 30 years years old and the only modification done to it is a concentric slave cylinder.
Hi Barrie I am having a hard time choosing between a 2010 diesel 1.3 litre diesel Corsa with 50000 miles done and a 2009 petrol 1.2 litre petrol Corsa with 41000 miles done, what's your opinion on this and which one would you choose?
depends on the mileage you are doing really, if its a lot then diesel everytime
funny how the words goodlooking were said as the 2 school girls passed !
classic corsa driver pulling school girls
hi barrie, i bought a corsa 1.2 SE 2013 reg a couple of months ago, but was click and collect so unable to test drive it, i love it except i think when i go over any bumps it seems quite bouncy, but i'm comparing it to my old peugeot 206 1.3 litre, which was lower down and quite a firm ride, and on the motorway there's a little bit of vibration in the steering wheel,...well it seems to vibrate on the floor and door handles as well. I had 2 new back tyres put on and made sure they got aligned incase that was causing any vibration but seems to still be vibrating a bit, i was just wondering if this was normal for a 1.2 litre corsa? I think it's still got a bit of warranty on it was wondering if i should get it checked out or if it is just road vibration from high speeds ? thanks:-)
if it is a vibration that shakes the steering wheel from side to side it is most likely wheel balancing and that is the first thing to check, its fairly cheap too. but while they are doing that ask them to check that the wheels are not buckled, with the state of the roads these days, pot holes and speed bumps everywhere, also catching kerbs etc we are finding more and more cars have buckled wheels, this causes a vibration through the car especially if they are on the back and seems to become more pronounced when braking
I was wondering if this specific model has a 3.5mm aux insert port? Also very good video and nice camera set up
thank you, yes i am pretty sure it has an Aux in
Question, does the car come with that loud exhaust? or does it have to be installed?
you would have to buy an aftermarket one
Barrie should I get a Skoda fabia or a Vauxhall Astra
Jakex Lazer what year? Both good cars perhaps the later Astra looks a little more stylish
Barrie should I still use my Vito or sell my Vito and buy a new suv
if you have the money burning a hole in your pocket get a new one, but if you are happy with the Vito then keep it
What year reg was this car just asking out of interest :)
it would seem that i forgot to mention that , and i cant remember now sorry, id guess it was about 2014
@@BarrieCrampton it was a lovely car it didn’t look that old in the video especially when you said it was in mint condition. :)
@@samanthahowie24 the video is also 4 years old so a lot could have happened since then, but hopefully its been looked after 😎
Ahhhhh fingers crossed. :)
Does any one who has a Corsa D 2009 find that the gearstick feels stiff sometimes when changing gears? I’ve heard that this is a common fault with corsas and apparently all corsas have “clunky gearboxes”. Is it anything to worry about?
Jack T I have a 2011 and the gearbox is quite stiff yes, but be gentle with it. Don’t want to pay for for new one
Yes, the gear linkages get stiff with age. They're not overly expensive to replace.
Not as good as Ford gearboxes
Is this a chain driven car and if so does it need replacing?
mark1968 chain, every 100,000 miles
@@mattwebb6056 Thank you very much Matt. In which case my recently purchased Corsa is now due.
3000rpm at 70? I have a 54 plate with the 1.2 twin port engine. What age is this car?
can't remember probably between a 12 and 14 plate
Sorry if I missed it, which year was this car built?
i think that one was 2012
@@BarrieCrampton thanks Barrie, I’m 25 and looking at the 2010 SE corsa as my first car, it has 68k miles. I want to keep it for a long time, 5yrs+ do you think it is suitable or is it worth spending more for less miles for e.g
I'm a biker always have been I'm 33 but thinking of getting the 5 door corsa. Are they any good
they are a hell of a lot better than sliding down the road on your arse, and arriving everywhere piss wet through. ps i love bikes too
@@BarrieCrampton hahahah no I love riding bikes in all weather's especially snow. I have full wind water proof gear so all is good but now I have kids 😖 so have to get a car but really don't know what to get as I hate cars lol
@@davidmolyneux9676 yep i remember thinking I love riding motorbikes just, before i thought, wow this is going to hurt, as i low sided off the s bend at Kirkham in 76 :-)
@@BarrieCrampton I've had plenty of off road crashes and 1 on road when a woman side swiped me and drove off but I love bikes
Does this car have Aux input or Bluetooth connectivity?
Mahfuz Ahmed I think it's got a AUX but I'm not sure about Bluetooth
So I am looking to buy a car and twice now I dreamt I was driving a black Corsa with the same styling as this, black glossy inserts on the interior (I confess, it had the 1.7cdti from the Astra).
Thing is, I need quite a bigger car, boot wise. I need the boot to fit a wheelchair. Anyone has any idea if this can fit a wheelchair?
If the handles and feet supports fold in it should fit in an Astra but doubt it will fit in the Corsa, if you measure your wheel chair i will check our Corsa to see if it fits for you, Barrie
Barrie Crampton It folds in the middle but the handle bars and feet supports can't be unfolded.
100cm in lenght and 87cm in height as it sits on it's wheels.
24cm wide when folded.
+Sergiu Gabriel am off now till Sunday but will check for you then
Barrie Crampton Thanks. Much appreciated.
No rush
its 90cm W x 63cm L x 90 cm H but height tapers from the back of the boot to the roof and makes it quite narrow if you try to stand something up, however dont forget that the back seats fold dow so if there are only 2 of you your wheel chair would fit in the back ok.
hope this helps, Barrie
THIS IS CHAIN DRIVEN TOO I THINK
hi, i was wondering does this car have a rev counter? i am planning to buy a 2011 model but on pictures and dashboard i do not see a rev counter. As a new driver that helps me know how much gas i am putting in ect
yes it does have a rev counter
Barrie Nice vid
thank you
Ever good Drver is a good Car for me in automatic put me foot down car do the work for you
I prefer automatics too
Nothing is wrong with manual cars you only put your foot on the clutch when you start the car and change gear it’s not hard
Ave got a Vauxhall car I love Vauxhall ave stalled in my car Cos I forget to change gear 😂
Jacks train videos Epic your a Yorkshire lad aren’t you lol
I am lol how do you know
By saying ave and cos I’m from Yorkshire as well
The Corsa D is very jerky in lower gears.
are you sure thats not pilot error, i hadnt noticed :-)
The D's suffer from horrendous clutch judder after a while.
What do the controls on the steering wheel do?
Audio controls
👍
can u help me how to use cruise control? thanks? i have the same car and have no idea how to use it (cruise control)
hope this helps czcams.com/video/DAOsgRbLaeI/video.htmlm47s if not get back in touch, Barrie
"hideous car" hahaha
great little car,
Please don't coast, dangerous and annoying to watch. Also when you come to a stop take it out of gear and let go of the clutch, the clutch mechanism wears out with the pedal pressed in
Well where to start,
A) I am not a driving instructor and don't profess to be, it may be annoying to you but it isn't dangerous, you say i put extra wear on the clutch, but using engine braking instead of judging how long to coast and letting drag slow you down, puts wear on the clutch, engine, gearbox, diff, tyres, etc and you find that acceptable?
B) I leave my foot on the clutch and the car in gear because if i don't, the stupid eco stop start system switches the car off, when it does, and it starts up again it causes interference on my audio recording equipment, also it saves you about £2 a year in fuel, but puts extra wear, on your starter motor, battery, clutch, flywheel, engine mountings, etc, etc all which get thousands of times more wear than they would if you just kept your foot on the clutch like i do.
You're Welcome!
Oh snap. Flip this guy over, he's done.
Somebody doesnt know how to drive properly with a manual shift.
Oh well, keep trying I am sure you will get the hang of it soon
haha absolutely wrecked - good one!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Barrie Crampton Legend
Only good for going to shop in. Other than that horrible things to live with
Disinfowars that is what living with a car is isn't it just going to shops haha that's classed as living with it
Some people buy what they can afford
Better than taking the bus that’s for sure
Okay.
