Impact Crate vs Gunner Kennel - Best dog crates review

  • Which is the best dog crate? The Impact Collapsible Crate and the Gunner G1 are both premium dog crates that serve very different scopes of the market. The are very often compared to each other though in reality serve very different use cases. This Impact Collapsible Crate was used to import a dog to Australia and has been my dogs resting place within my home for many years now. The collapsible function means that it has been fantastic to use when we travel though it isn't a crate that I would use to keep my dog safe within a vehicle. The gunner G1 is crash tested and I use it mainly when there is a real chance that my dog could be in danger from a vehicle rollover or collision like on the back of a quadbike or ATV while hunting.

    Gunner....plastic=chewable=dog (especially my boy) will chew until he gets out or hurts himself, and has done both repeatedly.
    (Imact makes more than one type of crate)
    Impact....."the high anxiety " =solid, thickest aluminum, twice as thick as this model, welded & riveted all the way around, does not break down, offering more strength/rigidity, (also many more "smaller ventilation holes so dog can't get a paw or mouth grip on any part of it. After realizing they're not getting anywhere, they generally accept it and calm down. 10 YEAR WARRANTY...will repair or replace, and that includes any damage the dog could do to make the crate unsafe, or improperly function.

      Those dogs need serious help since now their teeth are likely dulled out to the gums or close to them, you know how long it would take for a dog to chew through something like that? Those dogs needed some help fr, whoever had them needed to put them in a barred cage 6 foot tall kennel. Where it's room for them to walk, sleep and eat.

    • @izacshome
      @izacshome Před 2 lety +4

      @Bruh- my personal Mal ate out of an RTK/RLK in an afternoon. Exercised and worked daily, he just realized he could chew out so then he did. I would guess a gunner would take him a couple of days maybe 🤷‍♀️ teeth are fine. My vet said at his last dental he has some wear but nothing too bad. In my experience barred cages are the worst for crate chewers; they can get their teeth caught in the bars.

    Thanks man. I used your review. Ended up with the gunner. I just moved across the pond from the states to eu. The fact the gunner crate comes in half i think SHOULD BE HIGHLIGHTED. When I'm home I take it in half and the dog loves it. He's not into the cave thing some dogs are. And its so easy to put back together. We bring it it on the interrail, I've traveled many hours in a train and he was asleep the whole time. Its perfect I can really feel comfyerbal bringing him anywhere..I havent go back to the states to visit but one day we will and the crate will come and he'll be so used to it by then I'm sure it'll ease his flying anxiety.

    Good point on the sound issue. I didn't think of that. We're looking into crates for our pick up truck as well as our campervan. The impact crate would probably be noisy when the dog is in it. I remember when we had a house how my dogs wagging tails would make a lot of noise on the metal bars and I'm sensitive to sounds so we might go the route of the gunner kennels.
    But the impact collapsible crates are pretty cool too.

  • @NBay_
    @NBay_ Před 2 měsíci

    I was torn on which to pick, and I unfortunately returned the Gunner kennel. Maybe I got the wrong size as I felt the Gunner Kennel didn't provide enough ventilation and it's to confined for the use of a home kennel.-. I bought the true size for my dog's weight and height and felt it was still too confined. Impact kennel for Home use - I did upsize to give him more room. My Mal was far more comfortable in the impact kennel and I felt he was more relaxed instead of trying to dig his way out, drooling and obsessively barking. My Mal is a very obedient working dog and is used to being crated. Maybe I need to upsize on the Gunner Kennel. After hearing your information, I wouldn't mind trying the Gunner kennel again for transport purposes only. During Transport /Airplane will this kennel get enough ventilation, I worry about heat stroke as this kennel is thick and insulated ( not a negative- very well constructed) does it draw in the heat?. Just wanted to share my thoughts. This is a great video and great Highlights on each kennel! Thank you Pat for sharing the information - I feel I might try again

    My Vizsla chewed through the Gunner door in less then a week. It’s just plastic and has lips for dogs to get a grip to chew, wish Gunner offered a metal liner for the door like some other companies. Was hoping impact crate would work well since it collapses for travel, doesn’t sound good from your review. So far only solid heavy metal commercial style kennels work for my dog.

      @@PatStuart they sent me a replacement door but recommended not using the kennel with that dog, so not very helpful. He chewed the door enough for it to flex, badly cut his lips and face, pop the door open even with the top and bottom locks on it popped right open since plastic bends easy when there’s a weak point. Luckily was able to sell the crate used. There was a few reviews on their site for escaping but they some how get removed, leaving their crates with excellent reviews only.
