I did not notice the flat look of the “dolls” in the plastic containers. Also loved how the two sizes were meld together. What did I know, I was a kid. On paper, the plot to this movie could've been a deep exploration of a wounded man's psyche, scarred by his wife's infidelity...but in execution, it turned into a creepy guy locking himself in a room with dolls and photographically shrunk actors reactions to things that weren't there.
I bought Cracker Jack once as an adult, and the “toy” was called a “flippin’ fish.” It was a piece of cardstock the size of half a stick of gum with a picture of a fish on it you were supposed to flick by lightly squeezing opposite sides together. Literally just a rectangle of thick paper.
3:27 I think we should stop and take a minute to enjoy the kind of flounce this lovely little woman can pull off. You don't see the girls flounce around much anymore. It's a lost art, this art of flouncing. 7:09 And here we see that Sally can now teleport. It's amazing the different ways this girl can get around.

They made the B movie you describe. "Doctor Cyclops" There was also one before this (30s or 40s) with Lionel Barrymore where he shrunk people to use as puppets to maim or murder people that did him wrong. Saw it on Svengoulie. That one was very disturbing and likely why Mr Bijoux named this one Attack of the Puppet People. Then Sid and Marty Kroft made Doctor Shrinker...creepy villain scientist but no violence.
From budgets Big to small, and from movies to TV; sci-fi has never had it better than John Hoyt. You can see John Hoyt in a walk-on part in a TV series, then next see him in a motion picture like, "When Worlds Collide". In the 1960's he seemed to be everywhere: The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, Star Trek and even Battlestar Galactica. What a career - what an actor!
The poster made it look so exciting, and yet the closest thing to action in it is a guy beating up a puppet. I agree, your alternate ending would have been much more realistic and exciting. I would love to see this movie redone with that kind of ending. And a scene where they fight a dog, just so it can be accurate to its own poster.

Hey dude, I’d just like to take a moment to reiterate a line I just heard, “I think people should just admire the dedication you obviously have for your craft.” Well, it’s not exactly the line, but man, I really do admire all the work you put into these videos. Pretty damn impressive!!
If you want an actually good shrinking people movie from the 50s, the "Incredible Shrinking Man" is pretty good that gets surprisingly melancholic and religious which you don't necessarily expect from a 50s exploitation movie. And it has some good sequences of shrunken fighting and a spider as a borderline metaphor for life's difficulties and man's will to survive.
Incredible Shrinking Man was written by Richard Matheson: I Am Legend Terror at 20000 Feet The Night Stalker (Kolchack) Duel Somewhere in Time So yes it is a better screenplay. This comes off as a bit of a fetish movie as most shrinky dinks do...but better than The Collosal Man or Attack of the 50ft Woman
The doll maker was the original Enterprise doctor on the pilot episode. He was also featured in another bad movie making the rounds, "The Time Travelers." He's actually a well established theater, TV, and movie actor.
Actually Cracker Jacks had very good prizes when it was first introduced including Cast Iron toy cannon, or a Metal Whistle or even a Pocket Knife.. This movie reminds of of another one with a Madman that actually killed several people he shrank. He ended up falling down a well while trying to kill the rest.
