Wise, wise words from a British music legend. Always on point. Always inspirational.♥

First of all, Jazzie B shouldn’t have been the only one up there. ALL of the members should have been up and I hate this perception that it was just Jazzie. Caron, Charlotte, Daddae, Aitch B, Victoria, Kym, Penny, and everyone else should have been on stage. But I agree with what he said on stage

And give your Black American cousins the credit they deserve, because some of Soul, R&B, Jazz, and Gospel doesn't originate in the Caribbean or among continental Africans. That's our creation over here in the States. Matter of fact, reggae, ska, sound systems, and toasting were all influenced by Black America in the States. This is hilarious how genres are being claimed as if they are newly created by Black Brits without outside influences. Soul II Soul is an R&B group. That sound came from Black Americans enslaved in the USA, it didn't come from the Windrush generation. Black Brits took elements of Black American music and infused it with with their own stuff. Black America is the foundation of all moderrn musical art forms. Give credit to where it is due.
