I’ve been just auto playing through this series and I also just listened to my first episode of Dear Hank and John today. The coincidence!
I'd love it if you brought back the Nerdfighter book club as a semi-regular podcast, or maybe discussing movies, up and coming vloggers, something like that.

I like this idea a lot. Someone else suggested talking about cultures, but that seemed to limited to me. Leaving it open to current events of various sorts seems like the sort of thing Hank and John could do a lot with over time.

AFC Wimbledon is far more interesting than mars at this moment, and that should definitely be a topic in the podcast.
I would like the podcast to be about current affairs in Nerd News, and important matters such as Ferguson and Nepal. Also you should talk about films and what's been trending. No longer than 40 minutes, and you should try and arrange a different special guest every episode. Doesn't have to be weekly, but semi-regular.

And general updates on your lives; kinda the stuff you don't have time for in vlogbrothers videos now that you only do one a week each.
A point-counterpoint bit where you debate something (ala batmans just a rich just with an affinity for bats) would also be really really fun.
Oh and Hank's blue steel was the best.
You could also do a round up of cool stuff happening in nerdfighteria, like people could submit projects or events their local groups are doing to highlight them
Or do a "the best thing I saw on CZcams/tumblr/the internet this week"
***** All your ideas are grand and you should have more upvotes. I like the idea of them just talking about stuff they like or are interested in. The point-counterpoint would be HILARIOUS and I think John and Hank would also really enjoy it (as they seem to like debating things). And the featured nerdfighteria thing or internet thing is also a great idea.
I live in Canada and we have the Rick Mercer Report (a comedy show which satirizes current events and where Rick travels around and does cool stuff), and at the end of each episode he says "If you're in [random place] this week, don't miss the [random usually quirky event]!" And then he lists the features of the event - often it's a small-town weird thing like a pie bake-off for dogs or something. Anyway, all this to say that John and Hank should do something similar in their podcast only with nerdfighteria, because awesome.

It could be a history of names podcast - pick a name each session and talk about it, and interesting people that had/have it. This reminds me of the video where it is explained that John and Hank have basically the same root for their names.
Maybe a podcast of awesome things? You can talk about books, movies, articles, YT channels, people or projects that you find awesome and explain why. :) Like you talked about Kiva in 2007 or the movie "Harvey" last year, it would be great to see what are the things that you both are inspired by.
I think it would be a great way to start new conversations in Nerdfighteria. :)
And maybe, I don't know, finding a context for those things, so it doesn't seem like being redundant or just talking about things randomly. If the news are talking about Boko Haram, how can we find someone or something or any project that is doing something about that situation that, in some way, decreases worldsuck? Or how does this affect us, and who's doing a good job pointing that out? What book talks about this kind of violence? What movie can make us think about this situation in a way that gets us involved?
Love this!! Definitely hope the podcast can be community oriented.

Or maybe even less, you know? Maybe 2-3 things would be nice and not that overwhelming, so that people can listen to the podcast and commit to one of their recommendations, like: "Okay, I'm gonna read that article", or "Okay, I'm gonna watch this documentary." :)

As an old nerdfighter I loved this video but I wouldn't be surprised at all if you didn't get a single subscriber with it. To outsiders it might just look like two brothers making some quite nonsensical video together.
In short: Yay for us nerdfighters, but just for us nerdfighters.

Also, if Martians were real I'm sure they would feel inclined to agree with Hank and I. Also, I think Earth would be different without Mars, but the repercussions of its lack of existence are highly indeterminable because of the very well known Butterfly Effect. I think the podcast should be two NEW names each time! It'd be interesting if they included names of people you know and people you don't: Michael Aranda and Mike Tyson. Ze Frank and Jose Conseco/Anne Frank.
Also, John won that Blue Steel, but Hank was pretty close.
Jacob Land I think they should take two names and then make up people with those names! So we basically get a short biography of someone who might not exist.
Jacob Land It'd be neat, yeah! Or like you pick a first name and then talk about important people with that name. Like one episode would be "Michael" and you'd get Tyson and Aranda, or another one's "Anne" and you get Anne Frank but also Anne of Green Gables, and so on and so forth.
Aw, man. I really hadn't been actively keeping up with vlogbrothers for a few years when I suddenly heard about Dear Hank and John and started listening to it several months back. Now for the last couple weeks I've been going back through the 2014 and 2015 playlists to see everything I missed. I didn't realize the podcast had started as Hank's birthday wish! It makes me happy to see the video that spawned the idea. I'm always excited for the week's news from Mars and AFC Wimbledon. :)
