I think he is actually right. His other music is good because he broke boundaries and took risks, he was original. This album is very watered down, it is very generic. With some kind of tectonic shift in kanyes world view, or even if you viewed it as a reaffirming of his faith and a re connection with that, with who he is, you would expect something alot more interesting and fresh than this album. That being said from what I have seen of his Sunday service shows, they feel fresh, and maybe the issue with this album is a disconnect between the electricity of his live performances and a studio album. I'd be interested in a well produced live version of the album.

colainc90 no it just goes to show you can’t please everyone and that’s exactly why a man like Kanye West is far more suited for he position he is in than 99% of Christians. he has an innate fearlessness and a boldness that most Christians only wish they had. they THINK they have it...but they don’t. I can’t stand western Christianity anymore. talk about watered down, it’s a diluted mess and I’m not at all shocked this album went over heads. God bless the Kanye’s and the Peter’s and Paul’s.

The dude on the left needs to understand kanyes discography is the journey, it’s not just 1 album that shows the journey it’s his entire life’s work that’s the journey and Kids See Ghosts is that point that the guy on the left keeps going on about when Kanye realised he’s drifted from god Kids see ghosts is basically the story to how he got here, he talks about his demons and inner struggles and the album ends with “Lord shine your light on me” so this is the next stage, the lord has now shined down on him.

    • @benzookey
      @benzookey Před 4 lety +16

The dude on the left really annoys me because he gives the impression that he knows a lot about Kanye and his discography but he clearly doesn’t or he wouldn’t be saying “this is just an album of statements” and he wouldn’t be saying “Where is the journey” BRO HIS ENTIRE LIFE AND ALL HIS ALBUMS IS THE JOURNEY and this is the stage where he has made it and is declaring is love for god.

The powerful point of this album I believe is, that Kanye, who once was selfish, wicked and arrogant, has been born again, and he is declaring to the world that he is a brand new person. And also, I think this is a gift from Kanye to God as an act of worship to his Savior, King and Lord. It's an offering from Kanye to the One who rescued him, forgiven him and has accepted him, despite his past. This is a prodigal son story at it's finest. I love this album so much because it's an incredibly beautiful transformation and I highly rejoice in a lost son who has come home. All of Heaven is rejoicing and I so gladly rejoice also. This is the greatest miracle I've ever seen in pop culture-this is the beginning of a revival that I as an intercessor have been weeping and praying for. This album brings tears to my eyes because it's so miraculous that someone who served satan has now been radically saved, supernaturally transformed and is devoting his life to JESUS!!!! This is a pure miracle!

B/C for most of my life I was only exposed to the doctrine that I am a sinner and that God hates me and my sin.

But the love of God to humankind is Jesus, the redeemer, the ultimate and most high representation of his love, to takes us out of sin. I don't find useful to say God loves me despite my sin but God loves me so that he changes me to be like him and live free of sin, we must recognise our sinful condition but we naturally despite to be humiliated and confronted bc we are proud and like to boast ourselves, so Jesus says blessed are the poor in spirit, those who make the identification of their sin and know they cannot pay for it but claim to God.

Isaiah 6. At this realization for Kanye, all he can do is praise God. I honestly feel bad for the young man in these reactions. I think the important thing to remember is that no matter what he was before, he's NOW a baby Christian. It will likely be a while before he can articulate an album that is both extremely personal and doctrinally sound. There's a big chance that had he put out something closer to what you were wanting, Christians would have killed him on doctrine. They are already doing it with the songs "On God" and "Everything We Need"

Kanye has been living out 1 Peter 2:9 - ...that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Kanye’s music is all about praising God the father and Jesus our savior. He is giving praise and honor to them so the music is about them. I think it was quite selfless of him to keep it about them instead of about himself. For now we will have to watch Kanye’s interviews if we want to hear about his personal walk.

Dude Kanye is just like any other babe in Christ who has been delivered and is excited about the Journey ahead... I personally think he went the route of being a witness as only a new Christian can and that is by proclaiming what Christ has done for them and who he is to them... There is nothing generic about it... But as he started on "Hands On" the christians are gonna be most critical and demanding not realizing that he is a "new to all of this..." That's why you hear so much of biblical references because as any newbie he's fully indulging himself in the word but he has yet to understand that true revelation behind it all... And as a Kanye fan to be honest he doesn't have to necessarily have to go the testimonial route because his life/testimony has played out right before our very eyes for the past 15+ years and thats why I believe he came with more of the declaration/statement driven approach... He knows that we've witness this roller coaster ride that is his life because he is "Kanye West"... I do believe that as he releases more music he will get more personal and give more of himself although I dont know if thats possible because this album was him 100% authentically him professing his Love for Jesus Christ and how excited he is to be on the side and now he wants to bring as many ppl with him as possible... which is also encouraging because most ppl in his position are usually more private about such a shift in their loves because all they think about is how it will affect their popularity record sales etc... but not him he is boldly professing that Jesus Christ is the Lord of his life and that in itself makes this album in my opinion his best album up to this point...
You cant look for Kanye to do what he did before because what he was doing before was not for God... God is transforming Kanye and its up to us as the body of Christ to keep him lifted up in prayer.... Way to go Kanye keep letting God use you my brotha... But I did enjoy the entire reaction series you did on the album and I look forward to more....

The issue is there is an expectation that rappers have to layout their whole life on a record for them to be classed as "real" which has become more prevalent in the current generation. Kanye is just making music about what's on his heart. He testimony is all over the internet if you're looking for it. Bottom it's summed up as "the devil had my soul I can't lie". Just listen on On God and you'll get the gist. Otherwise relax, the word God is unchanging so Christians will go over the same subject matters.

Knowing all that we know about Kanye you can definitely feel the love, mercy, and grace of God in that song. Also, The album was made because he kept saying he was about to drop one... so instead of yandhi he maked this one to glorify God instead of himself. When you're in a position like he is you don't have to tell your testimony. The testimony is being revealed before you. When all the hype dies down from this album and Kanye continues to speak about Christ for those who are following his journey, if they haven't already gave their life to Christ, they WILL because they see the change in Kanye and it wasn't a phase.

Germain Gregoire , WOW ! I agree 💯 !!...infact I had a dream abt yelling in the dark as evil was coming around the corner for me, JESUS IS LORD !! JESUS IS LORD !! JESUS IS LORD !! The Holy Ghost landed on my arm and leaned into kiss me on my lips, as I kissed Him on one side of His beak and then the other, " I LOVE U SO MUCH I LOVE U SO MUCH I LOVE U SO MUCH " I think I was crying also...I was sooooo so happy !!

Also, young guy, your criticisms of Kanye's Gospel album may be a criticism of black gospel, in general (refer to song 1). It is not always the case that they share intimate details of their journey. Vague is good sometimes. It allows many to connect to the messages, and attribute meaning to a stanger's body of work. It seems like you were expecting a novel from a gospel album. I have to say, that is not what Kanye does.

I liked all the songs except for Water cuz I didn't like the production on it, I thought it was kinda annoying@ times. My favorites are:Selah, Closed on Sunday (for message and production), and God Is. I did really like Everything We Need and Use This Gospel too though.

You gotta look at Kanye as a possible Prodigal as it seems, and I dont think you are going to see that Moment. Because Salvation is Being worked out through sanctification as a life long process, so that moment you are looking for Im not sure you will find it in the Music. Steven J lawson and pastor John Macarthur have some great sermons on sanctification. I can appreciate the concern you have to make sure hes being legit, but please make sure you are not having Jonah syndrome. Love and Peace In Jesus Name!

“It’s not what I wanted to see.” (5:34)
“It turned into a cheesy Christian statement.” (5:51)
I like you but I have to say you have been a Christian so long and have heard Christian declarations so long that you are missing the beauty of that statement coming from a man who clearly had some god complex and wanted to be known as some god (in the past) to now declaring “Jesus is Lord” ! There is so much beauty in that alone.

You want to hear a billionaire complain about his life..Your right it's a statement that is more relatable to everyone...for instance I don't like most of his music..His production skills is top notch.. and I haven't heard a Gospel song in 30 years..But just because Kanye did it ..I'm somehow watching this review..He isn't making a complicated album because of religion he is making a simple album for introducing people to religion...I no religious people don't bet..But I will bet this go down in history as the most listened to gospel record of all time.. And it probably is the simplest of all time.. And I know there is way better singer's..Not saying that it's going to change everyone that listen to it..but say 1 in a 100.. and 15,000,000 listen to it..Does it make a impact on society?

If the holy spirit is in this ministering, are you being too dependant on what the man says in his own power or intellect as opposed to how God can supernaturally use the message of declaration or worship to convict the heart and direct the individual to that place of epiphany? I prefer the latter as opposed to someone falling in line behind a celebrity. That's called a trend.
