I remember hearing about him in the early 90’s. I remember talk about him bringing underage girls and assaulting them on his island.
I was at one of his shows about 20 years ago, waiting in line for an autograph when I saw one of his staffers approach a very young blonde telling her that Copperfield had noticed her and wanted to meet her after the autograph session. She was obviously underage 16-17 at the most and very flattered by the offer, luckily her parents weren’t far they quickly realized what was going on and whisked her away from the waiting line.

I went backstage after one if his shows, and he was unabashedly inappropriate with the women we were with. They were creeped out by him. It was so shocking that I never watched anything else he ever did.

This joke of a magician and fraud was booked at the Busch Gardens in Williamsburg back in the early 80's. Me and my bud went to see the show in hopes that we could identify how his "illusions" worked. We sat up front and immediately saw trap doors opening and closing in the smoke and called it out, laughing like the irritating teenagers we were. Needless to say, escorted out in short order.
