      Bet the stadium was rocking (literally) at times. Did the ground have any “unique” features that you remember?

    Hi, I've just added a link for your page, and this video, to a video I've just added of Rotherham Town, including both football grounds for some ex Rotherham Pats. Great video by the way, just subscribed too.

    It’s too good to be left a non league team in the area could make their old stadium their home

      I agree, I think another team did play their for a few seasons after RUFC left. Owners are probably hoping it’ll be left until it’s easier to get planning permission for houses though!

      Surprised the rugby union team didn't use it when they were doing well in the second tier. Legal issues?

      C.F.Booth own the ground , which is the scrap yard next to it.

    Really nice looking stadium. Pity we had such crap architects when they redeveloped Sincil Bank...one really good stand, then a couple of chicken sheds and a portakabin. Am sure your designers would have done a better job.

    Went to Millmoor a couple of times in the early 80's with Chelsea in Division 2 (Championship). We lost both times, 1-0 and 6-0. The season we lost 6-0 Rotherham also beat us 4-1 at Stamford Bridge - maybe the biggest aggregate defeat in our history (?), 10-1. I prefer the old ground but i'm an old git.

    I remember when the Chuckle Brothers played at Millmoor in the Chucklevision episode Football Heros. Were they celebrated not realising they scored an own goal.

    Why not just renovate the old?

    How come Millmoor still stands today and left to rot?

    WHy is it called new York stadium when it clearly isn't!

    • @GarethChalmers
      @GarethChalmers Před 9 měsíci +6

      Historically the land that the stadium is situated on was called New York and is referenced in many maps up to around the 1980s, although it is said that the name is inspired by the Guest and Chrimes company which previously occupied the site for nearly 150 years. Guest and Chrimes manufactured a brass stop tap that was and still is in use in many fire hydrants worldwide, many hydrant covers have the foundry's name on them along with the towns name, the stop taps are also said to be used in the famous red fire hydrants of New York City.

      The new floodlights are not as iconic as the ones on the old ground.
