Porsche 997 - Oil Change and Serpentine Belt Replacement

- Basic maintenance on the Porsche 997.1 is very easy. In this video, I change the oil and serpentine belt in one go! In the process I broke the oil fill tube. With some quick improvisation I “fixed” it using epoxy and high temperature tape. After a bit of research I found that it is very common for this part to break. Being a Porsche this simple plastic fill tube cost around $80.00 dollars lol. I guess you got to pay to play!

Thanks! Exactly what I needed to see! I am sorry about your oil tube, but I did not know I had to be careful. Now I do. Thank you for your sacrifice!!!
You are so welcome! Gotta find the time to replace this oil tube soon. Be careful with them they do get brittle over time.
You make good videos 👍🏼
Glad you like them! Thank you!
brilliant. love to see your videos. actually nice how much I can do myself on the porsche 997
Thanks 👍, I’m glad these videos are helpful for you.
I use the same oil in my lawn mower and i can confirm it works as it should! 😂😂😂✌️✌️
That is awesome! I hear it is also great for hair and skin! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good job bro! I just picked up a 2008 911S 6speed 3 weeks ago. I've done the oil change, transmission fluid change, spark plugs, cabin filter, air filter, new gas cap, shift cable adjustment and waiting on the serpentine belt to arrive in the mail. It took a few days since I had to wait for some of the parts but the work is straight forward and can all be done in just a few hours if you have everything. I didn't flush the brake fluid(since it was done recently) along with the coils as they were still in great condition and also recently replaced. I am reading more on flushing the coolant if it is really necessary.
Nice, check out the last 997 vid I did. I highly recommend changing that coolant connector. It can break suddenly and leave you stranded if you don’t change it to a Aluminum part. It’s only $20.00 and easy to swap money well spent.
I don't suppose you still have the part numbers for the cable halters you mentioned? Thanks
I don’t but they are easy to get from your local Porsche stealership.
Will you be doing a video on changing the motor mount soon?
Ae trole it’s probably going to be a while. My motor mounts are good.
@@KRTLyfe So was your serpentine belt. 😆
Ae trole true! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What brand did you use for the high temperature epoxy?
I’m trying to remember, what ever I used it worked. I haven’t had anymore problems out of it. I have a replacement sitting on the shelf going to make a DIY Vlog on how to install it soon.... I think it was a Loctite product. I put the Epoxy on them wrapped that with reflective HVAC tape. It has passed my expectations of a patch job 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Will you do a transmission fluid change soon?
Possibly, I am fighting a water leak from hell. Will be posting a video about the water leak soon.
Water leak, roof drains? When the previous owner had my car serviced they cleaned the roof drains constantly.
Manual transmission?
isnowyazn yep!
