    Al knives have their own distinctions. In order for a knife to be called a “Bowie” knife, a blade length of 9 inches must be its first designation.
    You built a very nice “fighting” knife with a 7” blade. It’s a bit short to be called a Bowie.

    I am in the process of making a bowie knife out of a massive 14 inches long, 1.25 inches wide and a quarter inch Nicholson file. Would you leave the file marks to give a more rugged look or grind them out before forging? I cut off the tang an it sparked like 1095 and skated a file after HT.

      man that its tough to say. a lot of people do like to leave some of that file look so that its easy to tell what its made of.
