Madonna may not be the best singer in the world (she is one of the best _entertainers_ in the world), but when she wants to, she can really sing, and come out with amazing songs like this.
To me and zillions of people who bought her records, she is the best. There are many performers, but they couldn't become Madonna. She has her beautiful voice and great songwriting to stand on.

La Isla Bonita was her fifth single and video from the album True Blue, and wasn't performed live untill a year later, yet it infiltrated into the fan's souls and later into the radio playlists and the charts. So, her voice was her greatest asset to begin with. Her attitude and performance abilities and her gorgeous communicative eyes were the ornamentation to her already great voice. In fact before she became famous, people around her noticed her voice too. They were the ones who pointed that out to her. She trained to be a dancer, but it was her voice that kept coming to the forefront. In the show business aka Hollywood aka Ziowood, as it is the case in all other type of businesses, when someone is perceived as a threat to the establishment, the established artists or businesses, try to blackbal the new ones by saying oh "she is good in that but not in this or she doesn't belong here, she belongs over there". I don't mean to name names or bad mouth those who said it, as I was a fan of them too, but Madonna outlasted them all. With or without her Grammies and Golden Globes, Madonna was and is great both in her singing, on stage and in screen performances. Her voice that carried her records, her performance abilities on stage and on screen both captivated us fans. And she has a multidimensional career that expands across several decades, genres, films videos, tours, albums, singles, digital downloads and streaming to prove it. People who criticize her are shortsighted and have hearing problems or have let the Madonna haters to dictate their perception of her.
William Orbit's wonderful and talented producing made this album one of her most memorable productions. They should pair up again for another few songs imo
