This is a great helmet for riding or commuting on Onewheels, e-bikes, EUC, and other personal electric vehicles. It meets the NTA8776 standard and has front and rear rechargeable LED lights. - Sport
Jake Leary is like the youth pastor for onewhellers
Haha thanks
Have you heard about our lord and savior Wheelus Christ?
Agreed 😂 the newbies absolutely need to take notes if they just got a GT

Thanks for making this video, Jake! You may have just convinced me to buy this helmet
Hey Jake, I just wanted to thank you for doing this! I purchased the helmet based on your review. Yesterday I just had my worst crash to date, helmet hit hard going around 20mph, and the helmet did a great job preventing a significant head injury. I think shining a light on the importance of wearing helmets is some of the most socially responsible things I've seen in the OW community. Mad respect and appreciation!
This helmet is a life saver, been riding onehweel for about 8 months now, had a few great falls, including shattering my left wrist, I needed a great helmet for greater falls, this helmet saved my life on many occasions, especially due to pot holes and other stuff the roads and trails throw at me, already had my helmet replaced for free from accident repair, the adjustable-ness and impact suspension of this helmet makes its 100%. Literally saved my life
Wow! Glad to hear you’re okay
Thank you for this excellent PSA and review. I’ve been skateboarding 25 years, never once hit my head. Got my first OneWheel last year and fell hard trying and failing to roll off a loading dock and somehow hit the back of my head - on my first day! Holy shit was I glad I was wearing a helmet. I’ll never ride without one, ever.
why does ‘wear a helmet’ coming from Jake hit harder than most? 🤙🏼 good review and advice on sizing
I love when I have people tell me they don't need to wear a helmet because they "know how to ride" and don't need one like other people that don't know how to ride, run out a nosedive, etc. I love to reply to them, well just like when I'm in my car, I know I'm a good defensive driver, but I STILL wear my seat belt just in case another moron driver hits me, that's what's called an accident! So, you might think or know you're the BEST OneWheel rider, you can still get hit by someone walking, running, riding a bike, a car, a truck, etc. So why not just be safe and save yourself doctor bills, pain, suffering and embarrassment
Thanks for making this video Jake. I had a bad fall last Sunday that cracked my helmet. I'm so grateful that I had it on. Walked away with a lot of bruising and a fractured pelvis, but no head trauma thankfully. Again, thank you for the video. Float on
Jake love you mannnn. You have a lot of influence on your fans like myself and you are using that leverage to help us understand how much our safety manner to you. God bless you my brother.
March 11 2022 he is in a video crashing and hitting his head without a helmet on. April 22nd he puts out a video and mentions not being fully padded up. Maybe safety suddenly matters to him less than a month later, but he should not be seen as a pioneer in safety. Helmets didn't suddenly become a thing last month. How much safety matters to him I would estimate as "Very little".
@@qaz-qp8go Thanks, Sherlock. No one here claims to be a pioneer. Let's be grateful when someone makes the effort to create content that positively impacts others.
@@thomasds2328 This is just an ad for xnito. I'm not grateful for people making ads. Jake won't be wearing a helmet in his next video. Bet.
Informative as always Jake, thank you. I wasn't aware of the new standard for helmets. Certainly will check that one out.
I was looking for a new helmet, so this was perfect timing. Ordered through your link!
Dunno, I always go for full face helmets. Having that chin guard saved me a couple of times.
Just put in an order. Thanks for the recommendation, Jake. Appreciate what you do
I got mine last week, only took 2 days to ship! This helmet is so comfortable and the lights are such a great feature for me since I commute to work early in the morning and definitely want to be as visibleas possible. Thanks again for the dope recommendation. I would definitely recommend this thing to anyone who's on the fence. Can't wait to order the winter insert for later this year too
What a coincidence…I was just looking at helmets and came across this exact one this morning and thought it looked awesome and saw the e-scooter/speed rating and didn’t realize that was a thing. Great looking helmet, and great video Jake…head safety is a big-brainer.
I got mine already. Love it. Definitely recommend it. Love your vids btw!
@@chrishaigh1183 Sweet! I’m highly considering it, and thank you!
Thanks, dude. Ordered one just now from your link, and got a $13.50 discount.
I bought this helmet on your recommendation and love it. Thank you!
Great message. Just ordered the blue version (Logan). I like to ride at night and this is perfect.
Thank you so much for this Jake! I've been looking for good helmets to buy and this one looks perfect. I had to return the triple 8 one I got cause it was too small, I think that won't be a problem with this one though. Good look'n out man.
I really appreciate this kind of info. Thanks!
To add some of my personal experience: I bought this helmet immediately after seeing this review and got it NEXT DAY! I have a bit of an oddly shaped head so it's hard to find helmets that fit right and sadly this is no exception. I reached out to return it and got a reply immediately with them trying to solve the problem. They're sending me some new foam that will hopefully help it fit better, and if that doesn't work they said they'd be more than happy to go forward with the return because "It is more important to wear the right fit helmet for safe riding and customer satisfaction is our priority."
A+ customer service. I really hope the new foam helps because this helmet really is just as nice as Jake says.
Ah, sorry to hear it didn’t fit well. The helmet is too big for you?
I forgot to mention in the video is also has a forward tilt adjustment, that is crucial to making it fit right. Did you try all 4 settings?
@@JakeLeary It helped, but I just need thicker foam since it sits a touch too low on my head. They said they have a foam that's twice as thick (adds about 7mm) and that should hopefully fix it. Thanks for the response!
@@JBlocklove too low on your forehead? The lower it comes down the better unless it obscures your vision
@@JakeLeary Not just my forehead, but my head in general. It pushes my ears down and messes up my glasses.
Solid review. Thank you. Grateful for the discount code. Just ordered.
Skulls are fragile.
He convinced me and I just bought one. Thanks Jake !
I am wearing my helmet 99 % more because of the first 30 seconds of this video Good way to put it
This is awesome, Jake. Thank you. 🤙
this is rad. Awesome to see these helmets out there now with a new rating system. Coming from motorcycles I wear a half shell DOT rated helmet and figured if its good for a motorcycle its good for one wheel. Has built in tinted shades and a visor as well. I love it
Don't. Otiecycke helmets also have mips? Not sure why I would want to get one without that.
Great analogy at the beginning lol... I wear a motorcycle helmet because my eyes are sensitive to the wind and for chin/jaw protection.... Stay safe bro🖖
Sorry to hear there was a fatality recently. That helmet looks amazing, however. Mine is only 1 year old (Bern) and I can't justify the purchase of a new one just yet, but I'll try and remember this one when the time comes :) Float on!
Grabbing myself one of these. Thanks!
Fabulous analogy professor!
Another great video. Nice to see folks with followers advocating for helmet use. Probability is low but consequences can be high.
Any plans for them to make a helmet with no head/rear lights? Or can those lights be removed/replaced?
Helmets should be viewed as consumables. Once you take a spill and crack the integrity you need to toss it out for a new one. But when they have electronics like lights that aren't removable you're throwing out something that might still be working perfectly.
Great that this company offers a lifetime crash replacement, but if they themselves aren't reusing the lights of broken helmets when they're still working then it's just creating a lot of unnecessary e-waste.
Thanks Jake for spreading the word. I got the Bell Super 3R MIPS helmet and it looks a bit ridiculous using it but I don’t care! I feel like my noggin won’t get scrambled if I nosedive.
I have the same helmet. Got it for trails after almost hitting my face a few times. It's actually so light and comfortable I don't use the skate helmet any more.
Amazing advise...I had a TBI in 2018 that im still recovering from (Skate Board Related) If I would have had a helmet on the outcome would have been much different. Im happy to say that in 2022 im still shredding I just keep my melon protected now.
Got mine a couple weeks back and love it. Headlight not really bright enough to light your way, but just fine for being seen and in conjunction with my GT's headlight. Light and comfortable and good quality.
Did they decide to go with micro USB or the reversible USB Type C? Thanks
@@DannyVdesign Micro USB.
Good stuff, Jake. 👍
Nice helmet I use a fullface helmet because I do about 35 mph great for lower speeds. Nice to have the light.
I’m a brand new owner of a onewheel and I’m starting to get comfortable on it, but I honestly can’t see riding one without a helmet and feeling safe just because of the speed and how “exposed” you are on top of it. I’ve experienced enough mountain biking crashes to understand there’s a good chance I’ll crash eventually, and when I do I don’t want my face slamming into asphalt at 20 mph from a height of 6-7 feet.
I especially like how this one has lights, I’ll definitely check it out
I got the Thousand's Chapter helmet, it has the MIPS technology and it feels really light. So far I had 2 bad spills on my electric skateboard due to drivers making illegal turns. Haven't fallen off since and still riding.
I got my onewheel stolen 2 years ago from my backyard and have been much more vigile since. I ride fast e scooters and had just gotten a full face helmet after months of riding with no helmet and got in a crash so bad I would probably be brain damaged for life or have died if I didn't have the helmet on. I got a concussion WITH the full face DOT approved helmet on (also had motorcycle armor jacket and pants). It made me scared if I don't have a helmet and go fast. Only thing aside from the concussion was my wrists were so messed up. I'd say this helmet and wrist guards is what I should do for onewheeling on my pint x as I usually go bare and just ride slow
Link works, just ordered 👍
Thank you for making this video. Hopefully your content saves someone from getting a serious brain injury.
Folks need to remember that if they get injured or killed because they didn’t wear a helmet, it’s not only themselves they harm, but everybody that cares about them. Remember, other people have to watch it, and are often emotionally traumatized by it as well, not to mention the family that has to shoulder the cost of long term extensive hospitalizations, and rehab facilities. It also says a lot about the character of the rider. It says “I don’t care”. Well, I want to ride with people who care about themselves, and the people around them.
I float with my motocross helmet, nice and light. Cost about $100 and is comfortable.
I got my XNITO two weeks ago. it's not bad. wish the headlight was better.
Ah yeah, it’s not to light the road, just to be seen
Helmet safety FTW! 🤙🏼⚡️❤️
ONE TIME, I crashed on my bike. I ended up in Neurology ICU. This is one of those departments where you would rather be shot with a gun, because that's easy to deal with. "Neurology" is like, "We HOPE He's going to be okay...( because brain and spine injuries are just not good). I remember I kept waking up at different moments...during my stay in the hospital. The first time I woke up, I was in the MRI machine and there was a voice saying, "hold your breath hold your breath,"...[out]. I open my eyes and I thought I was being abducted by aliens! So, that "waking up" at different times went on for another 6 times. Eventually I'm talking to the nurse, who tells Me (get this!), those times I was going in and out - well - that was Me, going in and out of a COMA...Yeah... Coma. AND...that on any ONE of those times, I could have NOT have woke up. So... I began this post by saying "ONE TIME" I crashed - BECAUSE IT ONLY TAKES ONE TIME... This is not where You get a Redo card. No. YOU GET ONE CHANCE to either read this and PAY ATTENTION. I'm never going to have Your attention again. There is NO redo after a crash. It's just ONE TIME...You live or DIE. Die...as in that fun ride...YOU DIE. So the importance of this video cannot be overstated. WEAR A HELMET. EVERY TIME. E V E R Y T I M E !! Don't question - ever. On a lighter note, You forgot to mention one thing. A good helmet also provides you aerodynamic benefits. Which is a big deal. It also routes the air to cool your brain in the shade. All good reasons. But irrelevant...right? You forgot one more safety point: MIPS. MIPS is a new safety feature that you must have in your helmet, no matter what. If the goal is to make a superior helmet, You can't skip features that are already established as adding safety. Spend the money, buy a good helmet, with MIPS. I do note this helmet does not have MIPS. Make the improvement. In the end, YOU want to have every safety feature. I KNOW.
Always listen to pastor jake
Have you tried the mesh Bluetooth on an Sena r1 helmet? You can ride with a group and all by on a live intercom while on trails with decent distance.

Day 2 on the GT. I hit my head today. I wore my helmet.
Was going to give it a try but no shipping to Canada 😥
Do they have it in smaller sizes like for kids??
Great review and it's time for me to upgrade my helmet, where is the link?

I went on ride today without pads because i lended them to a newbie rider that was with us, but i felt so exposed
How does this compare to my $250 MIPS snowboard helmet? Genuinely curious if it’s got some special sauce that MIPS doesn’t have
MIPS is a yellow piece of plastic that goes inside a helmet
@@JakeLearyword, I guess Im curious what’s special about this helmet then
@@MammothMan35 it has thicker protection and more coverage than skateboarding or bicycle helmets, designed for electric vehicles that go faster than most people are pedaling their bicycles

i will need helmet for my girlfriend, thanks for sharing :)
I only been wearing a helmet when pushing my abilities at high speeds, riding in unfamiliar areas or around a lot of hazards, or riding on trails. So most of my miles I am cruising around suburbs or a mostly empty parking lot. And when I do ride where I feel I need a helmet I usually grab my nice mountain biking helmet. I can’t justify buying this helmet
True indeed yet I never see you wearing a helmet on your videos
Damn, only US it seems.
whats the name of your other helmet?
Altec 100%
I have a skate helment
how is this vs MIPS?
This standard is for the size and thickness of the helmet. You can add MIPS to any helmet of any standard. I would say that this helmet is safer than a CPSC helmet with MIPS but that also depends on a lot of factors
@@JakeLeary If I understand correctly MIPS is designed to let the shell of the helmet move around a little without transmitting that movement to your head/neck during a twisting impact. I'm just guessing here but I think MIPS is probably more effective with a full-face helmet that fits snug around your ears and jaw and is more "attached' to your head than these open face helmets that don't cover the ears.
Jake crashes hard, almost smashed his skull in so decides to wear a helmet.
and kudo's to him for making content publicizing it. hopefully at least someone else out there learns from his experiences rather than having to learn the hard way.
Looks like a copy of the Bern Hudson.
