  • As we approach the Fourth of July, when it comes to burns, knowing where to seek care is crucial. Here’s a quick guide:
👆 First-Degree Burns (Superficial): Urgent Care: For minor burns with redness and mild pain, urgent care is usually sufficient. They can clean the wound, provide pain relief, and dress it appropriately.
✌️ Second-Degree Burns (Partial Thickness):Urgent Care: If the burn blisters but isn’t too large or deep, urgent care can handle it.
🏥 ER: Go to the emergency room if the burn covers a large area, affects the face, hands, feet, or genitals, or if it’s caused by chemicals or electricity.
🚑 Third-Degree Burns (Full Thickness): ER: These severe burns require immediate ER attention. Call 911 if needed.
❌ Do not apply ice or ointments to third-degree burns; cover them with a clean cloth instead.
Remember, safety first! If in doubt, err on the side of caution and seek professional medical advice.
