Oh gawd the feels.. I love the way she sings this with so much sensitivity in her voice. The instrumental is almost haunting and yet i can bounce to it, one of my favorite songs by her. I don't really get how people compare this to Aaliyah though.. But if she was still alive i would definitely want to hear her rendition of this song.
I think you kinda answered you own question, it's not so much that their musical styles sound the same, it's the fact that they both had a certain type of inflection in their voices that had a certain feeling that could be felt by the listener. Especially the last part of the song. Very reminiscent of how aaliyah sang
