    The human connection is more important in business than ever before because of how easy it is to hide behind your computer screen. It really takes an effort to make a connection when you're in person. Great topic!

    The most challenging part of face to face communications for me is the act of listening to understand versus listening to respond. It's a dance that many don't know how to count the steps to and usually ends up feeling quite clumsy.
    The most fascinating part for me, of face to face communication is how much information there is to process. So much of it is subconscious and you can become overwhelmed at times. Dynamic is a good word to describe it.

    I find constitutive to be the most interesting and most challenging as it requires both parties to acknowledge their thoughts and then share them. It can be difficult for some to share their views and it can be difficult for the other to accept them. If we can find the line of being honest with our opinions and allow others to be and we share this reciprocity face to face communication can be beautiful even if we don’t agree 😊😊
    Thank you for this great video!❤🎉

    The most challenging aspect I find in the face to face communication is the idea of talking to someone I am not very well acquainted with. As an introvert, I face this kind of challenge daily. Although I would agree that face to face is the best form of communication.

    In answer to your question, I love that in F2F communication you can see instantly your listener's reaction and adjust the content or delivery to suit the nonverbal feedback they are giving you. In doing this, you are able to be more engaged with your listeners and hopefully build a better rapport.

    While talking to somebody, they might raise eyebrows or squint. Those are not always easy to figure out in terms of : "is he/she making faces because I said something foolish or weird", or "are they having second thoughts", or ... whatever that might be. Eyes are windows of the soul, and any moves or twitches around them can be a little challenging to assess, or get in the way of feeling completely at ease delivering our message to that other person

    i actually think my mind wanders less when i'm face to face. unlike with watching this vid. i had to go back to hear what you were saying like 5 times. and video calls are awkward for me. The other person has their own stimuli that i can't do anything about, i just sit there and watch. I'd rather experience the same place and situation together. face to face is definitely supreme.

  • @kristychen770

    With face to face conversation, it forces me to be more attentive to the person. However, I found myself not able to express precisely how I want to convey my thoughts. I would have used a better word to describe situation / place / dish as an afterthought. I think because I have a short time to formulate a thought and verbalize the thought to match ideas in my mind . These are two different processes . It requires some advanced knowledge and some preparation to reflect thoughts so it comes out smoothly. 10:59 Sometimes I noticed that the sequence of flow of conversation on myself was choppy with face to face convo.

    hello sir, this video really has really helped me to understand my cours. so i have a question, what do you thing about how certain health measures (masks, distance, etc.) taken during the pandemic process affect our face-to-face communication processes in terms of "non-verbal messages".

    • @alexanderlyon
      @alexanderlyon  Před 3 lety +2

      I don't have any data on that, only my personal experiences. I've noticed that I really miss the nonverbal of seeing people's facial expression. It feels as if nobody is reacting and it's hard to "read" people. I'm still teaching in the classroom and it's really noticeable there. I don't feel as if I'm as able to "connect" with others either. The distance is similar but I think the lack of facial expression is probably the biggest missing piece of the face-to-face, in-person communication puzzle.

    "Use of space"! One arm space is a could measure, however from my experience, "Rural" people need a bigger gap than someone who lives in the city! People who are from the city don't seem to be oblivious of rural people who do need extra space in their personal bubble!

    most challenging when do face to face communication is the real time responding speed, you don't have time to think deeply. i need practice on keeping the silence if I don't know what to say. on the other hand, email or social media, i have time to read between the lines. the information input is limited to words only. but face to face , i have to process all the visual , audio, space, context all at once. do you have any suggestion on how to improve the quality of face to face communication?

    Is interpersonal communication is a part of face to face communication?

    • @alexanderlyon
      @alexanderlyon  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, 100%. Interpersonal communication is about two people in a conversation and/or relationship. Historically, it's always been talked about as a face-to-face exchange. Newer research is including how technology influences those relationships but the standard way of looking at it is face to face.
