Columbus's voyage connected the Americas, Europe, and Africa in a web of exchange that transformed the environments of the Old World and the New World. In this video, Kim Kutz Elliott discusses the impact of the Columbian Exchange.
US history on Khan Academy: From a mosquito-ridden backwater to the world's last remaining superpower, the United States of America is a nation with a rich history and a noble goal: government of the people, by the people, for the people. Its citizens' struggle to achieve that goal is a dramatic story stretching over hundreds of years.
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. The map makes it seem like all these foods were taken to Europe from North America when in fact many these crops were from South America, mainly from Peru. The most important of them was the potato, also from Peru, since it caused a population explosion in Europe after the plague
Hi students around the world :)
hi
Hello TwT
yk I wouldn't be surprised if my teacher had a Christopher Columbus fan club
NOOOOO pls-
Thanks for sharing this video
Anyone here after the APWORLD LEQs?
I’m really enjoying this whole series of lectures! I’m just learning to learn. I’m a math person, not a historian, but the narrative is impeccable and really helps me appreciate humanities highs and lows.
But, it was my wedding day. We will getting ready and there was not a cloud in the sky. Bruno walks in with a misterious grin. THUNDER, ARE YOU TELLING A STORY OR A I?
I DISLIKE MY TEACHER MADE ME DO A WORK ON THIS
Teacher why did You make me do tis
Halloween in Europe before 1492, carving Oranges
Currently laughing out loud
Great video
I hate social studies
Native Americans improved the food security of the world for ever. Potatoes, corn and peanuts alone probably saved hundreds of millions from starvation and death.
im just trying to get info
You forgot to mention Africans were already in the New World when Columbus Nem arrived riding The Pale White Horse!
Very well done!
Khan academy video a day makes your brain cells wanna stay. This is pretty interesting 🤔 * sarcasm*
My teacher sent me here
what animals were brought from here? I’m trying to get info for my project.
oopsies you should’ve told me this before school ended 😎
what about pablo escobar and his cocaine trade
nice one
tru
that was a life changer for me tbh
There were diseases going both ways, in partiucular: syphilis was transmitted from the Americas to Europe via the soldiers who got infected.
Watching this for class pog
One billion thumb ups to Khan academy
thank u
What do you call the software you use to make your videos? (The thing with the black background that allows you to write using pen/touchscreen)
Bacc studios
Taino DNA must have come back to Europe. I am a living example of that....perhaps when some Spanish men mated with Taino women, the offspring were more resistant to European diseases. Many Puerto Ricans have Taino DNA and somehow my Jewish Iberian French ancestors had some too. Some Jews went up in the mountains to escape the Spanish....an interesting puzzle
your sound is really low
The biggest question is, once reaching America how did Columbus travel straight back to Europe if he did not know the route. Actually he knew the route because he travelled to that continent based on knowledge shared by previous visited explorers. 😄😄😄
I know why your here
I love your videos they really make sense stay healthy
Ur teacher assigned u this vid 👇
im watching this in class
Sameee
me to
same bro
Si alguien de la clase de 3 AB Bilingue del Eladio Cabañero de Tomelloso lo ve, le envío un saludo, soy Alonso
5:42 No I was wondering why this video is so long
bro its 9 min. chill. not like you got anything else to do in quarantine.
Split Guild bro I got lots to do I got other assignments due I also have to catch up on sleep this online school is no joke
Marquis Ferguson maybe try and be a little more patient for 5 seconds then. 10 extra minutes won’t mess everything up. If that’s the case, you should try and get your other stuff done beforehand so you don’t have this issue.
Split Guild cool thanks for the tips but um I was patient and I was also joking, and I was doing my work while doing those assignment so if I did my work beforehand I would still end up watching this and have to do other things. Thank you again for the tips though
i gotta do this for some bell work
watching this at 1 am
The only part of history I really cant understand is the African part. If the Royal african trading company was a london based company wouldnt the people be coming from Europe? What made Africa intrigale to anything?
Only people who liked this was the teachers
Is anyone from university of Delhi for assignment...
You need to talk faster
2x speed was good for me.
ALGUIEN QUE HABLE ESPAÑOL???
People can someone tell me why is it named the Colombian exchange? ;-;
The Columbian exchange, also known as the Columbian interchange, named after Christopher Columbus, was the widespread transfer of plants, animals, culture, human populations, technology, diseases, and ideas between the Americas, West Africa, and the Old World in the 15th and 16th centuries. idk if this helped.
@@djoewi5739 nerrrrrrrrrrrd
@Anaiya Jarrette it was a joke
@@lamsonnguyen2387 bruh.. I'm just helping someone out, leave it alone. Also, it's called being nice not being a so-called "nerd" which is just a stereotype- plus being smart is a good thing.
@Anaiya Jarrette Thank you for having my back, I appreciate your kindness. 🥺
Yeah he did
Were slaves a commodity on this exchange?
I thought the Americas gave Europe sugar?
europeans brought sugar to the americas, where they could grow it cheaply n quickly
