Wolchek Investigation: 'Bowling for Dollars' participants still waiting for dollars

A local TV station recently relaunched the hit game show 'Bowling for Dollars.' Some of the show's contestants say they bowled, they won - but have yet to see the dollars.
Some people who worked on the show also say they haven't gotten paid.
FOX 2's Rob Wolchek investigates.
The guy has money for lawyers, but not a few hundred dollars to pay off the people who worked on the production.
Guy is a scumbag, that lawyer can charge hundreds an hour for his services.

They screwed all the contestants and staff and then they blamed the old guy at the end and fired him. That’s some cold shit right there.
Seriously, they literally threw that guy under the bus the second they found out this was about to hit the news. The fact that he talked to the reporter without trying to squirm his way out of it, while the station manager hid behind lawters is enough to tell me whose telling the truth.

The screwed me as well. One of the producers (a woman) offered me money for a video of the show I had. I offered it to her, with the stipulation that a clip of my father on the show would also be used.
Never received a penny. And they didn’t use any clips of my father (who, by the way, was prominently featured in the episode).
I’m surprised the Federal Communications Commission hasn’t gotten involved with this as of yet.
If no one's getting paid, file a class-action lawsuit.
The expense of doing that isn't worth it. Lawyers wouldn't want to touch it.
class action lawsuits are mostly for only the lawyers to make money.

Just a few months ago, the Oddity Archive ran an episode on local game shows (Local TV Vol. 7, if you look it up), and Bowling for Dollars was prominently talked about during the episode. Ben mentioned this entire debacle to a minor extent, but dear lord it's far worse seeing it all on the table.
I'm here due to that OA episode, because I remember the original B4D from the late 70s when I was a little boy. It was cool that they brought it back, but it's fuckin cold they did this to not only the contestants, but to the staff as well.
The station must be really broke if they cant just pay these people the few thousands dollar they owe them.

I was in Chico California in 1998 and walked into a toy store. These two ladies had a table set up and had this unassembled toy on the table and as I was walking by asked if I could assist them in putting together the toy as they were setting up a display for the store and couldn't figure out how to get it together. Next thing I knew, I was told to look over at a sheet they had over what looked like a pile of stuff and told to smile, because I was on Candid Camera. They had me sign a release form, and I even saw it air for a few years as it was on some sort of Christmas special. Never did get my $150 check they promised.

No lawyer needed because the money was not much. Small claims court is how you should go after them that way a lawyer does not get 30-40% & the tv network would look like idiots sending a group of lawyers in small claims to fight for $300 it would cost them way more than that for lawyer legal fees.
I think that was the first one that the reason for all of the issues actually made sense

wadl is an independent station their not backed or owned by abc fox, cox, gannet, nexstar, tribune (most local stations are owned or backed by a major ownership company such as above) so they have very limited funding. coming from someone who worked as an intern at a local independent news station their not flush with cash after expenses such as salaries are paid. and alot of them heavily rely on unpaid interns who need the experience to apply for actual jobs. i know this because i worked in the news industry for 3 years
