      Novak sure was trying his best to avoid hashing through the deliberations via the press...pretty nervy of the reporter to think he should be privy to those discussions anyway - the press really grates on my nerves with their hubris in thinking that they have to have an ear (and voice) in these sorts of deliberations, as if they are a necessary monitor of the process and outcome. Their reputation has never been great, and is sinking by the day, and this journalist is a perfect example of that.

I do understand that we live in a world in which some (if not most) people determine whether or not a person is likeable just by taking ONE LOOK at the individual. If they like what they see, they like the individual. On the other hand, some folks do not even want to show the person respect, if they do not like what they see. Much like the rest of us, Nadal isn't perfect. There are some things about him that even I as a fan do not like. So, how is Nadal a "cheating cunt who will do anything to win"? Please explain. And his refusal to smash his racket like some other players do (Djokovic, including), when they're being outplayed by their opponent, is part of what you would describe as having "zero personality"? To me, amongst the Big 3, Nadal has the finest personality. And I'm sure even Federer would agree. After all, back at the 2009 AO trophy presentation, it was Nadal's kind and encouraging words that gave a tearful Federer the courage or motivation to get back on stage and finish his speech. Nadal is amongst the most humble and nicest athletes and persons. But I do find that he needs to work on the amount of time he takes between points (although it has been better since they enforced the shot clock). And I am also not a fan of the rituals that he does on court. But for me, those things don't make him "unlikeable."

    • @GamesJoblin
      @GamesJoblin Před 5 lety +27

      As Novak hinted, tennis (same as general) journalism is too clickbaity and irresponsible for him to have fully open communication, these folks tend to pull words out of context, create drama and all that. Plus I guess he is irritated by quite some sensationalistic hit pieces written against him recently, say Guardian's "series" come to mind (speaking of agenda...).
      Also his position in the council and the No1 rank in sport do oblige in ways people can't or don't want to understand. Pointing fingers and asking questions is the easiest thing in the world and that journo was obviously trying to provoke him.
      What I am ACTUALLY interested in are neither Justin nor Chris, but Nole's attempt to re-distribute money towards "lesser" players and young talents that would otherwise quit - we are potentially talking about thousands of players and hundreds of millions of money. As usual in politics, whenever someone tries to touch the money - hit pieces and smears start; and of course the given reasons almost always have nothing to do with the real topic.

      It's a big question what they consider by giving more money to young players, how far would that go. Tennis is and always was sport for wealthy people. I'm afraid he's gonna bring some trashy guys into tennis by this change.. it's very tricky.
