Fun fact, I actually watched Legacies last year in October but i was so lost when they would name drop Klaus and Hayley and other TVD people, so in Nov i started to watch TVD and I just finished TO last night actually, now im all caught up and I can say the the originals is now my fav show of all time.

the new werewolf design was so unexpected. if they’d done this a while back, we could’ve seen a lot more of werewolves back then than we ended up seeing
But Diego is a special case since he turned everyday for 10 years and managed to evolve and control his transformation. Not every werewolf could do that at the time. And Klaus could potentially do that or the other crescent wolves but they aren't keen on turning everyday to geth that form.

Yeah that’s super fucked up what he did,that must of been horrible for that werewolf to go through,it easily is worse than death.
Bonnie created the prison world in season 8 to put Kai away and with him chained up, the idea was that he would desiccate and never escape.
But then Alaric, that idiot, sent 3 students to that world, where they roamed free. So as Kai put it, "the second they got bored, they WOKE ME UP! (dances away)".
I highly doubt Bonnie even knows what Alaric did. That world was meant to be a one-man prison, not a detention center for supernatural students he couldn't help. And then, this makes her guilty for those students and responsible for Diego's unique control!
Or in other words, the 2018 prison world was only meant for a locked up, desiccated Heretic. Not 3 teenage supernatural, one of them vulnerable to the mercy of a full moon for 10 years!

I guess after the hundreds of times he was forced to change he learned to control it? I recall Klaus mentioning how the transformation takes longer if you resist it and is quick if you give in or something... And since a Werewolf is still a biological being, perhaps his body adapted to the daily transformation as well, enabling him to evolve?

If they did, it would be total bullshit. Kai is a heretic. Those guys were freaky powerful during vampire diaries. Just one of them was enough to handle Stefan and Damon, and they were both nearly 200 years old.
Kai is older than Jade so she shouldn't be able to overpower him at all, has more experience than Wendy and can even siphon more magic if need be, and werewolves have never been much of threat in the tvd universe. I'm hoping this was just a part of his plan.

Guys... it was literally shown in the episode.... Kai and Jade were a thing while in the prison world and Kai was the "leader" over the three of them. The way he was talking was very fishy of them. He started off his lies by telling Josie that he didn't want to kill Jo or anyone else, just them two. False, he wanted the entire coven and the wedding party dead. He blew up the chapel, and stabbed himself to become a heretic, knowing that his death would kill the coven no matter what since he was the coven leader.
The three psychos and Kai DID hunt and kill each other through their years in the prison world, but they did it for fun. This whole thing, every single interaction between the three teenagers, Kai and the Saltzman family, was planned.
Also, even though Kai is a relatively young vampire, he is still powerful as hell. He would still have the full power of the gemini coven, as he is still the leader, because the twins survived and haven't merged yet. He has the magic he absorbed from Luke, and Luke was a pretty strong witch. On TOP OF THAT, he can siphon his vampirism as an infinite source of magic. Making his magic even stronger, and infinite.
Even if Diego is a threat from his weird ass wolf form, Kai can siphon magic from wolf venom, taking the lethality of the bite out away.
Hmm makes you think if the werewolfs can achieve this form without there being full moon everyday seeing as it evolution of sorts.
KAI AND KATHERINE HAPPENED IN HELL AND YOU CANNOT DENY IT. think about it,kai set a trap for katherine and kai doesnt do anything without something in exchange.
I think VD and T.O wanted to be separated from Teen wolf so they didnt or hardly went all out with the full werewolf look like this..........but Legacies should def show more werewolf forms and abilities!
Even if Diego has to transform everyday for last 10 years, it still doesn't make sense to make him appear like this.
Even if by some miracle he learns to control his curse, it should be as if he can either stay in human form and gets turned whenever he wants to. Like hope and klaus and other hybrids.

GigicaPetica I remember when Haylie had to remind her pack that she was still a wolf first and a Mikaelson second so she forced her hand to transform. So I’d like to think that over time, with Haylie showing us that, 10yrs is more than enough time to shape the beast in any way you’d like want. Shame they killed him off, would’ve been nice if he taught the other wolves how to do it.

Chill guys if my maths are correct he turned every day for 10 years making it a whole 3650 turns. Any normal werewolf would change once every month and 12 times every year, in order to transform over 3600 times any "normal/ordinary" werewolf would need to get 304 years old. And this dude experienced all of that in the space of 10 years so of course you wouldn't be able to call him a normal werewolf anymore, hence why this transformation kinda doesn't need explanation, he evolved simple.
