      leward18 No power to weight ratio is. Hence the reason I put two bikes that are big twins with lighter weight and big torque numbers. It's the combo of torque and HP that make those bikes so dominant. Diavels walk 1000cc super sports up to 100 mph because of the way they make power.

    PRICED LIKE A DIAVEL AND VMAX BUT 5X SLOWER THAN THEM. CMON HD! I love the looks of this bike BUT this is one of the largest displacement bikes that is somehow the absolute slowest bike on the market (in its respective 2019 class) and commands one of the most expensive prices. This bike is likely not class leading at anything (braking/hp/tq/handling/weight/ MPG/ suspension/ price/reliability which is TBD). You have to buy a Stage 1/2/3/4 performance kit and even then it still could not keep up with any of the bikes in it's current 2019 class. Vmax and Diavel destroy this bike in every aspect. This bike needed to be $16K/$17K USD MAX but instead carries the 30% HD price premium. An old 2000 1300CC Vmax would still destroy this bike today which is sad.

      @Matt M. one guy commented on another video I commented on wondering why I was comparing a "Cruiser" (FXDR) with a "Sport bike"?
      Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they show this FXDR on a race track doing twisties etc? To me that's sport bike worthy and NOT a cruiser bike! Additionally, I dont think a Diavel is a Sport bike and is very much a cruiser. To me BOTH of them are cruisers with the Diavel being hands down a FAR superior bike to the FXDR thing.

      I have an 03 vrod with a scratch built turbo system. Bone stock engine on 9psi boost. Put down 154rwhp around 170 at crank. Bike has 18k turbo miles. ZERO problems. ZERO. Fukrs are built like a workhorse. And guess who started design on that Engine before harley hi jacked it...Buell. was already designing it in the mid to late 90s.

    • @fvgc454ss
      @fvgc454ss Před 5 lety

      @Theodore Marakas actually Erik buell designed the engine in the 90s. Harley then gave it to Porsche to fine tune where they added 30lbs plus bulk to the engine to put it on the vrod frame. The engine was going to b used in the xb series bikes initially but hd hijacked it n didn't allow buell to use it. There is a lot of things he did the public doesn't know. He even had a 450 super moto/dirtbike style engine that they built that harley also scrapped.

    Harley is a dying brand in America, Harley needs to stop asking premium prices on their bikes, as you are not getting what you pay for. I dont care about the brand, I just want a good quality machine for a reasonable price instead of being sold a lifestyle.

      I cant even walk into a HD dealership to simply look at the lineup without being sales pitched by 3 or 4 guys. Theyre so pressured by management to make sales. HD of scottsdale is terrible for this. HD will be bankrupt in under 15 years.

    • @jcdenton4621
      @jcdenton4621 Před 6 lety +11

      Harley is far from being a dying brand in America. They still sell more bikes in America than any other bike maker in the world, and you actually get a lot for what you pay for! The quality is topnotch and even your average Harley is waaaayyyy more impressive looking than anything else on the road.
      I live down here in San Antonio, Texas, and all you see down here in Texas are Harley's (unless it's a Sport bike). I don't think I've ever even seen a Goldwing down here lol. And Texas buys more bikes than 95% of the country!
      And as far as pricing goes, well they're pretty much the same as a BMW or a Ducati, and sorry, but BMW bikes are just as overrated as their cars; filled with electronic issues and ridiculous maintenance costs! Ducati maintenance costs are even worse!
      Sorry, but I'll stick with Harley. You just can't beat the style, the sound, and the quality!

    For all of you that say this is the end of HD because of this bike, it isn't. If this bike doesn't suite you then all that means is that you are not the target customer. If you want HD to survive and continue making the traditional bikes we love, then they have to branch out and target different tastes (customer base) in order to survive. HD isn't going to dump their traditional line of bikes.

      HD as a company has plummeted. This whole year their stock has straight dropped in value. They are in desperate need of new buyers, and this new line up they brought out was suppose to bring in those new buyers. These bikes are heavy, slow, EXPENSIVE and not the most appealing. Almost every motorcycle manufacturer makes cruiser style bikes with a lot more power and affordability. HD is axing themselves at this point. They failed to evolve as a company.

    2018 Triumph Rocket Roadster is another great option in the power cruiser category. MSRP starts at $15,700. Can be purchased for less. It’s comfortable, powerful, handles well for its size and sounds great stock. I purchased a new left over 2014 Honda Valkyrie for approximately 50% off the $17,999 MSRP. An awesome bike that’s super reliable, handles like a dream and is unique. I rarely see one on the road. Highly recommended.

    Thanks Matt this was very new to me and surprising. I've been riding 49 years and have owned a cross section of brands including a couple Harley but consider myself a Triumph guy now. So what I wanted to see is more in line with: classic appearance, great handling, weight below 500 pounds, competitive performance and pricing well below 20K.
    I don't know what market research says but I don't think plastic covered cartoonish styled bikes that aren't practical and probably at the low end of performance and high end of pricing will be a winning formula. It's great harley wants to target new riders that are wealthy lawyers and successful drug dealers but if they are targeting young riders who cant afford these bikes then they have smoked too many you know what !!!
    The only way a young rider could afford these bikes if they had good credit history but if they buy this bike with less than 50% cash they will be in bad debt after 2 years of owning these bikes on finance infact they will be bankrupt or forced to commit insurance fraud to get out of the debts because of the resale value and used market.
    The thing that will hurt all young riders who buy bikes on finance is sketchy dealers trying to rip them off when it comes to trade-in while the bike is still under finance - that will be the killer of young riders.
    i used to work in the industry where i see so many young kids go bankrupt trying to own something they cant afford - taking out finance is killer of all young kids - bankruptcy has increased 350% with young kids taking out finance on phones cars and bikes the past couple of years.

      In this 2-wheel buyers market, for $15-20K, a prudent, common-sense fella can buy 3 or more exceptionally fine low-mile used bikes, and count on keeping and riding em for 50-100,000 reliable, mostly painless and smile-filled miles.

      Cam White Oil cooled is basically still air cooled. it's just air moving across the oil cooler. You sit in traffic and you will see 350+ degree engine temps. Oil cooling has no comparison with liquid cooled engines where temps can be maintained within 5 degrees. the tighter you can control temp the tighter the engine tolerances and more power. That oil cooled engine has to take temps up to 350+ so tolerances have to be loose so metal has room to swell. If the ring gap is tight it will stick a ring and break a rod or destroy a piston and cylinder.

    Hi Matt, I think Harley has worked the v-twin configuration for all it's worth. I think they need to think of other configurations, as BMW had to break away from the opposed -twin layout. I think HD needs to experiment with flat, opposed multis (to knock out the Goldwing), a 90-degree longitudinal twin, maybe even a liquid-cooled square four (like Ariel). Also, tackle Triumph with a triple. And Royal Enfield with high-quality long-stroke 350 & 500 singles for the Indian market.
    You're the man with his nose to the ground, so I would love to hear your say.

    Is this a cruiser or sport bike? Both? Why forward controls on a sport bike? I’m a little lost on this bike design. They say it’s for performance. But it’s another heavy v-twin that’s on there cruisers. I could see my old Restored 1972 750 four out doing this thing. Whatever HD.

    Looks like a lot of inspiration from the Ducati Diavel to me.
