She may have been knocked out - probably was. She was in cuffs for a reason, if you don't break the law you won't be in cuffs in the back of a police cruiser unable to open the back doors... My husband has been a LEO for almost 40 years and one of my sons is now a LEO as well, it's the officer I feel for. The woman I feel bad for, but she put herself in that situation in that car - the officer was doing his job and probably distracted by her screaming and kicking the window, threatening to pee on the seat, etc. It's what they do trying to get a reaction from the officer...her actions could have led to her own death. Not saying that to be mean, but it is an honest possibility and she took the deputy with her. It's not hard to obey the law. Most of us do it every day. When you break the law and are arrested, your life is no longer yours until you're released... She had rights, but so did the deputy to go home at the end of his shift. If she caused this because of her own actions in the police car, it's just really sad for the officer and his family.

I am Tabitha smith. You are Tabitha smith.. we all are Tabitha smith!! 😢❤😇 I mean when your arrested, you think at the very minimum , that your life is at the least SAFE and well looked after…!!
Was it Texas? Might have been Texas, because Texas is a state whose population elects politicians who made it law that allows Texas cops to arrest you for almost every single possible traffic infraction. Texas cops can arrest you and take you to jail and book you and fingerprint you and photograph you and make you wait until you can see a magistrate even if it'll take several days ----- for something as minor as turning your blinker on 5 feet too late, or crossing the stop line at a stop sign by an inch. Texans sure love their freedom from oppression. They really do, other than they fact they vote for it, every time.
Poor thing slowly died in the backseat heartbreaking because most people know that you can't open the back of a police vehicle from the inside. Hopefully there can be some protocols in emergencies like that that somebody can escape
The mud entered the car because the recovery team didnt use lift bags for recovery. Instead dragged the automobile along the bottom of the water column. The observation of the integrity of each window is made by dive team / rov. If a window/ window's are comprimised, you will definitely want to use lift bags to get vehicle off the bottom. Eliminating alot of other factors. Obstacles obstruction/ snags. Which ill say it, isnt their fault. This is more than likely the first incident including officer & arrestee dealing with a water column.. sad for the officer and family, but imagine losing your life because an officer may or may not have been texting while driving bragging about making an arrest? Is that not ironic?
The mud was in the care BEFORE they began to retrieve it.. The weight of the car and the very soft bottom probably caused it to sink. Who said he was "bragging"? Maybe he was letting her know because it was going to be taking him longer to get off duty because of all the paperwork and time involved in getting her booked.
@PK-bh1ww cute comment, so since he knew he'd be in for a long night, was the reason for the rush or negligence ? Most people workiíng a 40 hr job have no reason to rush . No one's ever died from driving slow & methodical. I'm not dogging anyone, but I am saying it shouldn't have happened.
@@tiredVeteran1984 my point you missed was letting her know so she wouldn't worry due to the type of work he did. Which is different than an ordinary 40 hr. job. Obviously...You weren't there so you don't know how he was driving. And ya it didn't have to happen No accident should have to happen but they do. They're both dead now so no need to kick them when they're down and and can't answer for their self. Now they'll answer to a higher power.
I don't think she was in the back seat,,,,I think some adultery going on and they knew, know it,,,this smell funny,,,especially no cameras,,,,,wonder how many people in this county been convicted from footage,,hmmmm ,,,,
Did you not listen to the whole briefing? It was NOT his first arrest and they stated that several times. They also stated that there were multiple possibilities, including the woman in the back causing a distraction (which they always do) and using his radio, yes he sent a text but they have no idea at what point - it could have been before he started driving for all anyone knows. Everyone wants to jump on how horrible this officer was when in fact, this was a bad accident and the woman could have even caused it screaming, kicking the windows, threatening to pee on the seat, etc. My husband is a 40 year LEO and my son is also a LEO. Until you've lived it, stop blaming cops for everything. God help us if all the cops suddenly decided not to go to work anymore - then you would be upset because no one would be there when you needed help... No one wins in this situation, but stop automatically blaming the officer, no one knows what happened. And they have not stated he was texting and driving, just that his wife received a text at some point.
@@everythinghomestead9222 you are making the same assumptions and speculation on the only victim here... the woman in the back seat! I would be glad to see a mass exodus of LEO and I'm very well prepared to defend me and mine. I live in Volusia County, the armpit of LE corruption, and I myself asked the current elected Sheriff to un-subscribe from his services during his last campaign during an event. What you are failing to realize is my initial comments were physically reported whether true or false, it was reported. This was his first arrest without an FTO present. You've made assumptions you cannot explain other than your obvious biases. One question; during your husband's illustrious 40 year career, how many bad cops has he arrested? How many times did he intervene and do the right thing when a colleague of his was doing wrong? 🤔
A woman drowned locked in a cage while she was handcuffed behind her back. Leo's need to be sure that her family is taken care of. Apparently he was so proud of himself for arresting another human being that he forgot where he was.
Cops today do not deserve Gods blessings! They have made it clear they are not For We the People! This cop is evidence once again of it. Had he not felt he was above the law he would not have been driving and texting most likely at a high rate of speed. There are no skid marks indicating he tried to stop and it's quite obvious you should according to the signs posted and the rumble strips in the rd to indicate danger ahead! The PD that hired this incompetent man to be a cop should be held responsible to the fullest extent!!
We dont know that yet tbh she couldve been kicking the glass behind the sheriff as a rookie he turned to see what she was doing and drove off the road its called hes still investigating its not a fact yet ….but since your probably a felon you have every right to be mad
No - he sent a text, no one said he was driving. He could have sent the text prior to driving away from the scene of the arrest. No one knows when the text went out and when the accident happened. Distraction from the woman is probably what caused this. Haven't you see cop videos where the arrested person is put in the back of the police car and they scream, kick the windows, puke, poop, pee and constantly try to distract the officer? If she was doing that and he was in an unfamiliar place at night - very likely he didn't know where he was and ended up on the boat ramp. NO ONE said he was texting AND driving, just that during the timeline of all this, his wife received a text. Then later, he called in on the radio 'water'.
Were you? My husband has been a LEO for 40 years, my son is also a LEO. I know the reality of what happens on calls, have you ever beein a cop car other than in the back? Have you been on ride alongs? Witnesses AT THE SCENE of this officer arresting this woman stated she was walking in and out of traffic and wasn't acting normal - drugs, alcohol, mental health issues or whatever...get her in the back of a cop car and they usually explode back there. Her distraction could have easily led to her death and the officer's death. I'm a former ER nurse, did plenty of pre-books, and if she was impaired in some way she would have been evaluated. I've see all this in person. The fact that he was in a well known dangerous area, one he was not familiar with at all, at night, with a woman in the back who witnesses said had strange behavior and was impaired in some way....yeah, doesn't take many brain cells to realize he was probably distracted, not sure where he was, and trying to get back to the station quickly. The week prior a woman drove into the river off the same boat ramp - even with all the things you listed - apparently that is not uncommon at that location. You see what you want to see, what the media always portrays - that cops are evil people. They aren't. They are doing a job no one else wants to do. God forgive us is police walk away and leave us all at the mercy of the criminals and crazies out there... Cops handle situations no one would ever want to be in. And when something goes wrong, everyone blames the cop and calls them murderers, etc. Think first, get the facts, wait for more answers before condemning someone when you weren't even there. Otherwise you're part of the problem. @@michaelking6895

Wrong. Morals, critical thinking, understanding right from wrong, and having the strength to choose what's right are MUCH more important than "believing" in God or some other moral mirage. So many Americans love to claim allegiance to God (especially the ignorant, anti-American Southern trump-voting trash), many for the sole purpose that it makes them look good to others, and allows them to justify their antisocial, abhorrent behavior. Atheists have been consistently proven to be more honest and moral than anyone who claims a religious faith. But I understand if you don't believe that, because it's only something that is "a fact" and was learned by using something called "science," which people who cling to religion have increasingly decided are not as real as their opinions and feelings.
So proud that he arrested another human being, then she was drowned in a cage handcuffed. Tragic is what it is. Hope you people take care of this woman's parents, children, and husband if she was married.
When you handcuff someone and put them in your car… their life is literally at your mercy.. you are responsible for them.. nothing they do or can do, could do, could cause you to NOT keep them alive and well and safe. If I am driving a car full of YOUR kids, and they are yelling and kicking my seat and distracting me, and I slam into a tree and they all die. But they were distracting me.. right? NO!!!!!! I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM!!!!! If they are that bad, I should have pulled over until I could safely drive. And also police are held to a higher standard! They definitely want to be treated like it to, so act like it!! YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR HER LIFE!! My god. How disgusting!!! That was pure neglect on his part! And I’m actually grossed out to hear anyone even insinuate that she could even remotely be at fault any way shape or form….
..or, its just an ordinary traffic accident. Let's not let our minds automatically jump to the worst-case scenarios. It could as simple as a New Yorker, new to his patrol area, who was unfamiliar with the county roads. We'll know more when and if his body is recovered.

And I just literally physically imagine myself that day… and then next thing I know I’m driving into a river.. with FREEZING COLD WATER… with my hands cuffed… and I’m screaming… and all I can do is seriously just wait to die… because you know at that point it’s going to happen forsure… and again I have 2 babies, a husband, I’d like to think I’m a really great person, and just because of a seatbelt … I could have been her.. I am Tabitha smith. You are Tabitha smith.. we all are Tabitha smith!! 😢❤😇 I mean when your arrested, you think at the very minimum , that your life is at the least SAFE and well looked after…!!
Accidents happen. I don't think the deputy planned this to happen. 🙄. This victim olympics is wild.
@@MindyMousethank you
he got a big police escort to the Morge, she got nothing, this is what they think of citizens
most likely the escort was to keep anyone from discovering what they are hiding.
Poor thing slowly died in the backseat heartbreaking because most people know that you can't open the back of a police vehicle from the inside. Hopefully there can be some protocols in emergencies like that that somebody can escape
And handcuffed too
Very sad situation. Praying for the family
Prayers for the deputy’s family, all departments involved and the deceased woman. May the deputy be found soon. God have mercy. 💔

Training for law enforcement is substandard. He was texting his wife about his first arrest. Just image that poor woman in the backseat. 😢
Strange folks, weird...
Prayers goese out to the family
Just horrific !
God bless our LEO. Prayers to all involved.
A woman drowned locked in a cage while she was handcuffed behind her back. Leo's need to be sure that her family is taken care of.
Apparently he was so proud of himself for arresting another human being that he forgot where he was.
This deputy was texting while driving and drowned a woman while breaking the law. Wth
@@anonone8954There you go again. Did you think he should have arrested a farm animal? Or maybe a oak tree? Most arrests involve a human being.

😮He was texting and driving 😢
@@everythinghomestead9222 Dam was you there??🤡
Otherwise you're part of the problem.

more than likely, rare they obey laws , so probably speeding also, not like he would be pulled over for it

He was texting and driving and trying radio and drive at the same time even just texting and driving is negligence because it’s against the law for an officer to tex and drive. I hate that he lost his life and the lady lost her life !! And yes, those back roads in Tennessee are dangerous driving on and if you’re not from around there yes very possible this could happen if you’re texting and driving or not paying attention to what you’re doing !!
So sad. God bless all of you. He tried to save her, he's in the water.
@mrsshagsswagfrosty
What? Where does it show the Kop tried to save anyone other than himself?
This has not been a good week for the Tennessee police department. Praying for all ... we all need god in one way or the other . The Tennessee police department has had a ruff past cup of weeks . With all going on .
Accidents happen but if he was texting while driving that is not cool. I hope that's not the case.
so she might of been a victim , and she was arrested?
not the guy?wtf, was he trying to go somewhere secluded and hope for the best? he was at fault.
Going to be a big lawsuit
So proud that he arrested another human being, then she was drowned in a cage handcuffed. Tragic is what it is. Hope you people take care of this woman's parents, children, and husband if she was married.
He went out a murderer
Hard time for her family....huh....dont make it about the texting deputy that doesnt know the roads.....

just the fact he said the officer was texting and driving shows how they feel above the law, im pretty certain that texting your wife on duty isnt legal while driving, if not just bad edict
Texting is probably the reason😮
They never EVER said he was texting AND driving. They said he texted his wife at one point, could have even before he started driving. They never said he was driving and texting, they don't have enough info to even begin to say that. People need to listen more closely instead of just hearing specific words and making assumptions.
The sheriff should not have said he was texting. HE'S ONLY SPECULATING. He's does not know
