This doesn't sound right to me. A Deputy that works in that County, driving these roads day and night, rain and fog and he accidently drives off a boat ramp? Just for curiosity I'd like to know how many calls this Deputy has responded to at this very boat ramp for thefts, drunks, etc.
Oh yeah. We definitely don’t have the whole story on this. Suuuuuper fishy. Maybe he raped her and she said she’d squeal on him and he killed her. His window was down and no body? Really? Humm.
he was only on the force for 2 mos. I believe so probably not long enough to respond to multiple calls to that ramp for whatever reason.

Driver's on the bottom. Hard to swim in body armor with a pistol belt in frigid water. Probably sank pretty quick after they realized the water pressure was going to keep the rear door shut until it was on the bottom.
They can't mention the prisoners identity until next of kin has been notified. Don't be so quick to judge!

For him to have a prisoner in the back they should have had dispatch records of him calling in a 10-15 and the identity of prisoner should have been run through dispatch to check for 10-29

I suspect he got out but heavy gear he wore made it too difficult to stay afloat and drowned. I wore like 20 pounds of gear and I doubt I would do well in water as a below average swimmer humbly speaking. EOW R.I.P.

I don’t like law enforcement due to how most really aren’t great people however people making crazy theories up about this police office are insane. It definitely was just an accident. They found his body from what I’ve read. He most likely was trying to help whoever was in the back of his cop car

That sounds like murder. His body was found outside the car. Hers was in the backseat..unless you know something the public doesnt.
They found the Deputy deceased in the water this morning. Apparently he was from New York and just moved to the area a couple months ago. He was heading towards the right direction but missed a crucial right turn.
It's possible that he was texting while driving at the time.

It sounded like he said something about water. I’m guessing an accident and probably drown trying to save the person that was arrested. Sonar picked up something by the car but with current and mud they could not identify what it used.

Ok a few things stand out. 1 the window was down. What was the temp outside? Was there a need for it to be down? Could have been pre planned to insure getting out. 2. How much knowledge did this officer have of this specific scene? Again, could demonstrate pre planning. What was the relationship with the detainee? Lastly unless he just barely moved to this town he would know the terrain enough to avoid what happen!! Ok. One more thing. Did he have a life policy insurance written on him? Everything points to high probability that it wasn't an accident. Condolences regardless

They failed to point out that the person in the backseat was handcuffed. Cop swam away and disappeared cuz he was texting while driving and drove into the river.
How horrible. I can't imagine the fear and panic that person felt knowing they were helpless to save themselves. Such a tragedy.

Yep, both the officer's family and the prisoner's family will have the right to sue the county or state. Whoever is responsible for making it clear that the road turned into a boat ramp.

Wehad a similar situation in ohio/Kentucky years ago. A LEO wa schsing a suspect on 1 of the bridges , and he fell.....and everyone said that he and his wife faked his own death. 8 months later, a tug boat operator saw his Badge shining , and called LE, it was him. He'd been in the ohio for the entire 8 months ppl were swearing he and his wife faked his death. Idk that ever got an apology either. U can look the story up tho. Very sad situation here. Prayers for the families of the LEO and suspect that lost their life also. 🙏
What he is talking about is that there was an officer killed last week, now another officer is possibly dead. Everybody is already stressed and then they lose someone else. Prayers to all the families involved with this.

The officer texting his wife about the arrest can only mean the officer was very insecure & needed his wife's approval OR the officer was arrogant & letting her know I made an arrest.
I thought the woman left in the back of a cop car that was hit by the train was bad. Meigs county said - hold my beer. Fun fact - top 5 line of duty deaths is car accidents.

Incident happened in an area where this is little to no cell service, and the officer in question is nowhere to be found. Could it be corrupt police officer covering his tracks or could it be an attack on the officer who was transporting a high value target in custody

I saw an Instagram post yesterday about a cop who was driving erratically and making threats who seemed to be having a mental health episode. Someone posted the warning as a caution to those in the area. I dont know if this is the same incident.
Wonder if the person in the back needed to be silenced.
So a cop killed a handcuffed man and bailed the scene. Got it.
The deputy and the law enforcement community having a bad day. Okay. But the person in the backseat was a human having a bad day, too.
But that person was obviously a "bad" person not worthy of consideration.
Hopefully they have the dogs on the water and can bring closure soon.

Tennessee roads are very winding and narrow and internet and cell phone service is inadequate..contribute to this horrible accident I'm sure.

ALL accidents can be avoided. If you do not know the area or the roads, do not drive faster than you can react. Complacency is the worst killer of responsibility when we all drive. It's sad but hopefully others can learn from this. Slow down if you are driving in unfamiliar areas, stop relying on others for your safety. Please remember, those elected only care about their paycheck and doing barely enough to keep it coming in..
