The system will find a way to emply loads of people yet underpay them to work 8 hours a day for years to accomplish something a private citizen can do in 20 minutes
Yup, and that is because Michael is a good teacher. He also doesn't have to compensate for slow learners, because one could just re-watch the video, yet a school teacher would have to go slower and repeat themselves to make sure all the students understand. If the teacher could go at their own pace without interruption, it would of course be quicker. School teachers for the most part are trying their best.
That was wonderful, but at the end you proved this: Given that you have a triangle with vertices on a circle, if one edge is a diameter of the circle, then the opposing angle is a right angle. You wanted to show the converse: Given that you have a triangle with vertices on a circle, if one of its angles is a right angle, then its opposing side is a diameter of the circle. Granted, the steps to prove this direction were also explained very nicely in the course of the video, so it's not the biggest crime of the century.
Is that not the same exact thing? Or is it not true that if you have a right angle, then the opposite side is always the Diameter of the circle, given the vertices are on the circle
Thank you!!! I always have heck of a time finding a circle's true diameter in pursuit of it's center. I knew there had to be a way to check one's work without remeasuring and redrawing the crosshairs. Thank you for answering the questions people overlook or don't think to ask.
At 4:23, Michael says, "Now Thales's Theorem tells us that the two other points, where these rays contact the circumference, are diametrically opposed. They are on opposite sides of the circle and a line passing through them will pass through the centre." Isn't this the converse of Thales's Theorem? Yes, the converse is true as well, but what was stated in the video isn't Thales's theorem; it's the converse.
Yea this is what I'm thinking as well, and the proof at the end does not prove the converse. I think the proof of the converse follows from the inscribed angle theorem, and I found this proof of that: czcams.com/video/MyzGVbCHh5M/video.html

Nice explanation,I got a different perspective of the Thale's theorem by this video, thank you so much for your time and effort.
We all need a teacher like this one at least ONE in our lifetime. Thank you Michael.

Actually he mentioned this in a podcast with Kevin
He is a comedian, its funny
The pause after the intro was amazing 00:40
Such a lovely demostración of the theorem. Thanks Thales! Thanks Michael!
The opening was hysterical- a perfect spoof on those miserably sweet, "touchy-feely" shows on afternoon broadcast TV. "Making circles will begin right we show people who love and people who don't love them". Brilliant, Michael! It looks like the Comrades of YT have been ragging on someone's butt needlessly.
Me: Mom, buy me this great book.
Mom: What's so special about this book?
Me: Because it has a nice sharp right angle.
Anyone else miss, *"Hey, VSauce. Michael Here"* ?

it´s always great to watch your videos, plus you learn.
I wish I had demonstrations and explanations like the one you gave for the SAS rule in geometry class. That would have been a help.
I think "compass" sounds a lot less dirtier than "cumbutt".
**gasp**
you said the "a" word..... get outta this christian channel >:(
I see what you did there 😏

lol
Omg i didn't realize why he was saying compbutt throughout the entire video cause I didn't see anything unchristian about compass
spent half a year in middle school learning something that could be learned in less than half an hour
oh well , i don't care about geometry anymore , i'm a medical student
You spent half a year in this? We spent only a couple of classes but it was because we exercised on it.
But I do agree teaching should be far more focused on explaining the why and be a lot more intuitive.
This actually helped me with understanding Thale's thereom way better than my book for a test I have this week. Thanks dude
Oh man, you are a legend. I'm studying in 10th grade. I just came here to know Thales theorem. But you covered all the topics in my syllabus in one shot. Thanks. 😍
Imagine thinking of that and not having a video to help you. This Thales dude is smart.
Yeah, the greeks are very cool.
he's also dead.
are you sure he didn't get that from this video?
@@wizardo9226 that’s what I thought at first but if you check the dates Thales was a couple thousand years earlier

You should be a teacher, i wish you were my teacher. I am now a university lecturer and I have to say, you have a great way of explaining and making things interesting.
Great Job! Well explained!!! Thanks for the excellent and cool explanations.
I almost read it as Thanos's theorem
