I bought a round bale feeder from the local feed store , they tore it up quick , it was made out of real thin tube steel , i think im gonna rebuild it with well pipe , its tough to bend in a perfect circle though , im looking at the little three wheel circle bending round pipe fixtures and im thinking there all too small , so i got two rear rims off a massey ferguson 35 tractor and a 16" rim , gonna fabricate me a larger model , the trick is building the frame large enough and heavy enough to be able to hold everyyhing and bend a round bale size circle in well pipe , hydrualics will come into effect here also ..

Hello Homesteaders! Dairy cows are the best part (to us) in our homesteading self-sufficient journey. However they really like to pick through hay to find the perfect bite, this leads to lots of wasted hay and money. This is our solution and it works!

I think k Mr. Rueffer and my Dad would be about the same age. My Daddy was born in 48. I love watching your videos and seeing Mr. Rueffer reminds me of things my Dad would have taught us if he was still here. Luckily my husband has taught our boys. They just finished a very large welding project with pipe and repurposed guard rails for fencing for our bull herd. I’ll remember the measure diagonal lay and if it’s the same both ways it’s square. Thank you.

Love the idea. Can't locate used headgates anywhere so far. Not really dairy country out here in West Texas.

Maybe you will come across some dairy gates soon. I have heard there are dairies up in the panhandle. Thank you for watching!

Good morning. Love the feeder. Was wondering if your tractor couldn't pick up the entire feeder without disassembling? I'm not a welder, wish I was, great skill to have. I may try to make something similar out of wood. I have a couple of cows (one jersey) and sheep, all of them look for that choice bite. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Thank you! Mr. Rueffer said yes the tractor would pick up the feeder but you would have to have a chain at four different locations. Yes I think this design could be made with pre-made gates or with wood. Thank you for watching!
