    45 years watching horseracing all over the world. This mare is one of the greatest horses of all time. Better than Frankel? Who knows? Ignore the negative comments, just rejoice that we were able to witness a champion and give the connections the respect they deserve for bringing her over to Royal Ascot.

Frankel beat a horse that beat Gentildonna the Japan Cup winner, Frankel destroyed a horse that beat Goldikova who won 3 Breeders Cups, Frankel beat a horse (Cirrus De Aigles) that beat So You Think, and let's not forget that So You Think is the only horse to win five Group 1s in both hemispheres. Frankel also thrashed a horse that beat Snow Fairy who won back to back Group 1s in Japan and won the Group 1 Hong Kong Vase.

      What’s to say?
      Just a lack of experience riding the Ascot track.
      The undulations and uphill climb would make it as physically taxing as running 1400 at Flemington or Caulfield.
      If he hadn’t stopped riding she probably would have won by 3/4 of a length.
      I blame the trainer for her poor performance.
      Wrong decision to run her twice in Adelaide before going
      He should have kept her fresh and targeted the 5f race.

  • @mickdonedee1
    @mickdonedee1 Před 12 lety +8

    Nolen also said had he ridden Caviar out she still would have only won by three quarters of a length. He didn't realise how spent she was until she stopped very quickly instead of coasting to the line as she normally does. It was an honest mistake, not a brain fade. Nolen is to be commended for rating her perfectly in the run and still leaving something in the tank where she was able to pull out an extra effort in the last three strides. Had she lost, though, the public would not be forgiving.

  • @mickdonedee1
    @mickdonedee1 Před 12 lety +2

    I think you are mistaken. Nolen is primarily dejected because the previous Tuesday at Newmarket Caviar was her usual energetic self in the training gallop. Had she brought that form into the race she would have won by lengths. Nolen and Moody wanted to show Caviar to the UK racing public racing in her best form and winning emphatically. Moody noticed early on in the race that Caviar was not "travelling" as confidantly as she usually does. Hence the post race disappointment by both of them.

  • @mickdonedee1
    @mickdonedee1 Před 12 lety +1

    Luke Nolen looks really dejected in this interview but, given that Caviar didn't travel as well during the run as she normally does, he paced the run very well to leave her with something at the end to fight off the late challengers. Despite a small error of judgement at the finish it was a great ride. Well done Luke and Peter. Can't wait to see Black Caviar in the Spring continue her unbeaten streak.

      +MegaVector2011 Not impressed? She travelled half way around the world, so she was a bit flat. As it turned out she pulled a hindquarter muscle during the race. Likely jumping out the gates. So raced injured. The jockey and trainer knew she didnt look or feel right throughout the race and were nervous for her... Poor mare gave it her best against a Group 1 field of the best. No wonder she lost :(
