The answer you are looking for is kind of what mkb hd said in his decision to buy one and use it like a laptop, its because it is far more intuitive than any thing they release final cut 2 that only works because well of apple pencil integration for the most part and overall the software being hard to impliment, stage manager is a big step i don’t doubt another could be taken but it needs to feel natural.

I would like to see this, I don’t think it would go as far as you are hoping. But, I would like to see the memory manager be the same, and the file system the same. Using the files app isn’t all that friendly. But, if they would handle these things the same, it would make it so that native silicon apps would be easy to port. The pull down menus etc would have to be larger on the iPad Pro os. It would require an M series chip. I suspect that Apple has been using Logic and Final Cut Pro as examples on how they can translate the user interface. It may be a little early on that, but from what I saw on the updated apps that I saw, it seems that they are getting smarter on that.
This would also give Apple a chance to offer a 24GB version of the m4 for iPad and extract more money from us. đŸ€”

It would be fantastic if a hybrid OS could be implemented in the following way:
When using the iPad independently, it operates in standard mode (iPadOS); however, once the iPad is connected to the Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro (or when a keyboard and mouse/trackpad are connected), the iPad could offer the option to switch to macOS mode. After detaching from the Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro, the iPad would revert to iPadOS mode. I believe this would offer a remarkable hybrid experience! 😍

My bet is the 'dividing line' is now, the m4 10-core/16GB (1 & 2 TB) will be deemed 'capable' and everything else will be locked to IpadOs. Moving forward, for the next 2 releases they will likely hobble all but the most premium models in a similar way (core locking/ram reduction), as justification to maintain the lock, and to give an incentive for people to shell out for the top tier model. Comply with demand in the way that maximizes their $... JMO

There's a lot more to it. Designing an interface suitable for both touch and mouse+trackpad+keyboard is very difficult to do correctly. Apple does have insanely good designers but the design by definition will be a compromise. That is important because ever since Windows designed it for both tablets and desktops, windows has been terrible at both. It still lags in opening the start menu, notifications tray, windows overview... Opening file explorer, everything. This isn't completely the 2-in-1 design's fault and can be ironed out. But it does feed to the compromise and this will exist since both interfaces will need to be catered to. Additionally, the surface line is not a success or a compelling product to this day. Its nice and great for many users. I really wanted a windows tablet when the ones with windows 7 came out. But using windows 7 on a tablet didn't work because its not designed for touch. Windows 10/11 also don't work well with touch because again, not designed for touch. They are usable, but not as good as they used to be. Finally, what's the point? Using a touch screen makes sense for a tablet, but as soon as we take the touchpad and trackpad away from the ipad and surface laptop, using the surface laptop instantly becomes a chore. It turns out that users mostly use it as a laptop replacement which they can draw on (the drawing isn't that good on surface, definitely when compared to the iPad). If we're going to use the tablet as a laptop, use a laptop. Touching the screen of a laptop is only useful or fun when you've got the laptop on your belly while laying on the floor, or have the screen in your lap (keyboard on your belly) while sitting upright. I have had a few touch screen laptops including 3 surface devices. Surface laptop 2, 3 and surface book 2 15inch. The surface line to this day has not been worth the investment and the majority of them are really underpowered. I wanted to buy the surface studio (desktop) and came really close to spending a lot of money on it. It was really underpowred and users would say well its a small form factor in the base. How? The base was 3x thicker than any laptop (minus the lid) which would help with heat management significantly. You can easily fit a much larger heat sink in there and let it handle the extra heat. It was cost saving decision on the part of microsoft and fair enough. I love the 3:2 aspect ratio to this day. Fast forward to today, microsoft has replaced the surface studio (after a huge amount of r&d plus marketing), with a laptop called the surface studio. brilliant. and that laptop sucks too. They killed the surface book, killed the surface studio and windows has been dead since they stopped charging huge licensing fees for it. Having said all of this, iPad OS and iOS need a huge overhaul. They're too cluttered and not useful at this point (the software). It does need an experience which can parallel the laptop experience (as close as they can get with touch input). Finally, macos, ios an ipad os need their bugs fixed. It's long overdue. I find it hard to convince myself that I'm using an official release these days on ios and mac os in particular. My iPhone goes from insanely fast flying through everything to pentium then threadripper then celeron then i9 with every official update. Macos is not as bad but the hardware allows the os to be unoptimised and go unnoticed for a while. No heat, amazing battery, no noise, easy to forget those 0.2s extra delays on simple tasks. harder to ignore the visual bugs which are now plaguing ios and mac os. edit: I 100% support allowing mac os apps to run on the iPad. The experience will require a trackpad and mouse for it to be good, but would make a lot of iPad users really happy and be able to switch over to iPad os. This is made possible by the apple silicon as they're now all running the same architecture.

I also know that using an iPP as a laptop now, in this early stage of the product lifecycle, will be a compromise. But, as it appears the vast majority of these tech social media influencers are deeply ignorant of the issues of the Disabled community (which as of 2019 - pre-pandemic - were estimated as high as 1/5th the entire US population; so figure that the same estimate now if the data existed would potentially be 1/4 to perhaps 1/3), I am going to say that despite whatever small issues exist the huge game changer (which I suspect a few Apple Bros are actually pushing against if they were really honest, and if so for them they can collectively suck my
