      You mean you don't do electrical work on stuff that's plugged into an active source? What could possibly go wrong? 😅

    • @gopalakrishnanms
      @gopalakrishnanms Před 6 měsíci +2

      The voltage and current at the LED terminals won't possibly harm you as they are downsized by the circuitry. Of course, any electric work is inherently dangerous and a warning was appropriate.

      @@gopalakrishnanmsYou willing to bet your life on that?
      First, they're wired in series.10 LEDs equals about 35V. The current is enough to kill you... takes hardly any.
      More to the point, we don't know why the unit failed. Maybe the voltage is too high.
      Lastly, as I said, they're wired in series. The foil bridge has little resistance, which means the voltage for 10 is now divided between 9 LEDs. They'll run hotter. If they cause a fire and that modification is discovered, your insurance claim will be refused. You could kill yourself or worse, someone else.

    You forgot to mention that the LEDs inside the lamp is at HIGH mains voltage (depending on lamp design) since there uis no galvanic isolation and pose a SERIOUS risk should you inadvertantly touch any of the components on the PCB. Do not try this at home!

    • @devenyi73
      @devenyi73 Před 5 měsíci +2

      And as the resistance is lower now, all the other led's will went wrong quickly.

    Better way to do #2, just fill the existing hole with superglue, let it sit overnight & screw the hinge back in place. The fiberboard will absorb some of the superglue, the rest will harden in place, and you'll have a small dimple in the center where the screw goes. For hardwood doors, use superglue or wood glue and a toothpick or small diameter dowel.

  • @Regoriroger
    @Regoriroger Před měsícem +2

    On #2, you could have just stuck toothpicks in the original holes and screwed everything back in place. The screws create new threads in the toothpick as you screw it down. Much easier than what was shown here.

    Since you had a soldering iron as in #6, why didn't you just use that to fix that LED bulb? A single drop of solder bridging the pads for that bad LED is all it would need. However gluing a piece of foil over them will result in a poor mechanical connection when the board heats up, and possibly even a high-resistance connection that will heat up and possibly start a fire. Use the right tools and methods for the job.

    If you wish to clean Silver Jewlery or Silver plated utensils, put Aluminium foil in a basin, pour in hot water that has Sodium Bicarbonate dissolved in it & then put the Silver objects in so they touch the Aluminium.

    Do not solely rely on the switch before starting to remove the LED. Most of the switches cut the current on one line, therefore if you connect the switched line to Neutral (you have 50% of chance) then the live line will not be interrupted and you may get a shock when you touch the burned LED (depending on the position of the LED on the LED string, especially if it's close to the high voltage side) with a conductive tool. Totally unplugging the system from the mains is the best choice.

      LEDs are meant to last a very long time, so there's a good chance there's a fault in the circuitry, then you add 10% more voltage to each led.
      If they cause a fire and the modification is discovered, your insurance claim will be refused.

    Cleaning iron based tools with Aluminum foil would cause more corrosion due to galvanic corrosion effect on the Residual aluminum. Unless you can ensure it either covers whole surface OR no residue is left. I get that these are quick fixes for when you can't go to the store but having a piece of sand paper at home is a must. If needed use wet sand, but make sure everything is dry and properly lubed. Also make sure the sand is course enough not to get stuck in hinges.

    Boas dicas, vlw! Mas no primeiro caso, dos parafusos na madeira, dá menos trabalho e tbm fica bem preso, encher o buraco com palitos de dente ou de fósforo, e voltar com os parafusos originais...

    سلام از ایده‌های شما استفاده می‌کنم و بسیار علاقه‌مندم
    من این روش را تجربه کردم و عمر لامپ‌ بعد از تعمیر کمتر از ۷ روز مجدد می‌سوزه،ولی این روش برای لامپ‌های بالاتر از ۲۰ وات بسیار مفید و عمر لامپ طولانی‌تر است.
    موفق باشید💐

    That fourth one is a good way to risk arcing. Bridging it out with solder, or preferably a resistor would be safer.
    The sixth doesn’t really count.
    Man, the number of ways you’ve come up with to fix that cupboard door…
