Sia's facial expressions are awesome.
Not a song that really showcases the voice--on a show called the "Voice." You would think in all the years Tarralyn has been performing that she would learn that singing is about being expressive, not impressive. Frenchie apparently learned that lesson well, which is why she won.
I knew this performance was going to hell in a hand basket when Tara shouted “cried my tears for three long years”. That was just plain awful

I think she did The Voice shortly after AI -- because even Blake recognized her. Frechie is more into technique, and she knew that high Sopranos like Terralyn have a tendency to go off key -- something Terralyn did throughout this whole performance.

BOTH VOCALISTS HAD BEEN AROUND THE SIGNING TALENT SHOW BEND BY THE TIME THEY APPEARED ON THE VOICE. UNFORTUNATELY THEY WERE TOO EARLY BECAUSE THE VOICE HAD NOT YET IRONED OUT THE WRINKLES YET. SMH

Firstly, who chose this song? It doesn't show either of the singers range nor vocal ability. Secondly, the Tarralyn chic was screaming too much. No control whatsoever. And thirdly, this is so beneath Frenchie and her massive talent.

Frenchie all the way
Frenchie had a lot more control of the song. The other girl really couldn't control herself. She was off key a couple times and did to much with the runs. Hands down Frenchie was the better singer.
They told Frenchie she had the best voice in the competition, yet she was not even a fan favorite and she got eliminated. That is just really sad and horrific, the hell is wrong with people? LOL. I do believe this was not a good song choice for either of these two women tbh. It was a little pitchy from both ends even though Frenchie sounded a little better

DDICR That is not a good song choice to show of vocal prowess. Not trying to be rude here or nothing, but you are completely off on this one. I love both, but out of the two this song fit Frenchie's voice better. It was definitely not a good song choice at all, in my opinion.

Really bad set up for the coaches to have had Tarralyn sing higher harmony for an already maxed portion of the song, just because she can reach high notes doesn't make that a reasonable choice, it further helped to nullify her vocals being showcased. This song certainly didn;t fit Tarralyn's voice in the first place, Frenchie did great, and her presence was great too. I always feel sorry for sopranos when I see them on vocal contests, because they never win

i think that they are both very talented singers but i think frenchie had more control she nailed and we know that Tarralyn can hit those high notes but i feel like she was doing too much on this song she already had this attitude in the rehearsals as if she better than everyone else
Frenchie showed more control. HOWEVER, remember the name of the show. THE VOICE. She had it, Frenchie didn't.
The voice is what that gets you on the show everything else keeps you there!!! Frenchie has more zest and performance.

Hands down Tarralyn is the best singer..but Frenchie won bc she didn't over do it and she showcased personality. Frenchie can only do so much with her vocals, that maybe why she got eliminated later in the show. Tarralyn knew she could do more with her voice but made poor choices in the song. If Tarralyn wld have held back she wld have won and got to compete again showed us more ability

A good singer has to be able to sing all styles. All great singers can adapt to different styles from pop to R&B, and some gospel. You can have a big voice, but have to know when to control it. You don't have to always over sing. I'm a big fan of both. 40 seconds in is when it went south. I bet the results may have been different of that was different.
Why do people keep saying Taralyn had no control?!! She knew exactly how she wanted to execute her part whether you liked it or not. Frenchie herself said Taralyn has the capability executing just about anythin. I realize yes she did get off key and that was because she was in fact trying to over do it. But the rest wasn't lack of control, it was indeed her giving too much in an attempt to win. If you know anything about gospel singers ,then you would know this! Gospel singers do have the tendency to over sing n it isn't because of lack of control ! It's a choice . They hv the tendency to do a lot. If you look at the rehearsal, she was fine it wasn't until the actual performance that she over did it. she implied in her sit down with Christina that she held back and Frenchy herself said Taralyn held back. Thing is she has a lot to offer and was trying to give to much on a song that really doesn't give too much space to really showcase skills
The terrible song choice was intentional the judges were trying to make a hard decision easy! If these sanging ladies had gotten a song that better suited their voices they BOTH would've sang the hell out of it making it extremely hard to decide who was better. With this terrible song choice both ladies were presented with a challenge, they'd have to adapt and adjust quickly and show some versatility and youthful marketing potential.
They both failed imo they approached the song wrong, there was way too much singing for a song they required them to be damn near rapping over the beat and only actually singing the hook. Frenchie did the least amount of over singing and key changes (lmao @ Sia's face) which is why she won.
Yeah, I definitely felt like the tempo was too fast for them to keep up with. Also, I feel like the producers who chose that song were trying to absolve themselves of white guilt by picking a song by a **conveniently** popular Black female artist in order to not seem racist when choosing a song for a couple Black female contestants to sing 🙄
I think Tarralyn tried to take this song to church when it has no business being there, ever. Probably HER worst performance I have ever seen. Her pitch and tonality were downright unpleasant at times. Tarralyn is naturally however, a much more talented vocalist and immensely underrated (this song aside).
I have to say that Tarralyn was more worried about showing off than actually singing. Frenchie pulled back and let her make a mess of herself and it worked.

I agree that her performance was over the top, I didn't hear any pitch problems however vocally, she is superior to Frenchie (without a doubt). Frenchie's voice is very fragile and lacks control, I would think that a competition such as "The Voice" would applaud vocal skill and prowess. Overall I'm surprised at the lack of success of Tarrayln (maybe you can give some insight) since she's always compared to Whitney
karenclarkfan okay...there were def pitch problems. even Sia and Christina's reaction at 0:40 showcased one such thing. i agree that Tarrayln has a much better & powerful voice than Frenchie, but i have watched a lot of her videos and i do find that while Tarrayln has a real unique talent, she lacks stage presence and that innate performer ability....
karenclarkfan i don't know why she is compared to whitney houston. it may have something to do with the fact that she sings whitney's songs a lot...a lot! but when whitney was on stage, you couldn't tear your eyes from her. she literally made it seem like she was singing directly to you...as if you were the only person in the room. Tarrayln on the other hand always looks like she is singing for herself...another audition...another 'at home' mirror session trying to be technical and impressive. it is almost as if she thinks that she is the only person in the room, vice making me feel as if i am the only person in the room. while she is talented, she lacks that factor which enthralls.
Frenchie more control over her vocals. Tarralyn an amazing singer, however overkill, over sang runs, were annoying at some points. Though both are excellent vocalist.

Tarralyn carried the high part of the song all through and down to THE VERY LAST NOTE. Frenchie is good but Tarralyn is the reason that this sounds so epic. Y'all neee to clean your ears out so you can differentiate the voices that get blended together. Frenchie's part is rather flat. Tarralyn is slightly off on a few notes but she saves it , especially with the vibrato near the end that drowns Frenchie's out.
