*There was a bit of a UI error it was displaying weird times for converting buildings, I have tried to edit the video to correct it, just to clarify:
Tier 1 Buildings take 1 turn to convert, tier 2 take 2 turns, tier 3 take 3 turns.
that is a welcome change in my book. Sure it was fun to puzzle the right amount of ying and yang for the first 15 turns or so but later it got very old very fast. Actually this was often the reason why I did not start a cathay campaign. I was like..." ah no I have to deal with this crap again all the time..."
For it is actually more challenging and fun in the later game.. If i didnt get a harmony a get like -8000 upkeep.. But if i get it.. I get 16000 +upkeep.. That makes the game challengjng and fun to play.. And some easy boring stuff where u like a baby want to get buff no matter what u do
While I appreciate the province-by-province harmony change, I do still think there should be a global harmony balance mechanic. Cathay's harmony mechanic is all about empire building and empire management, so it means you often need to plan ahead as you expand. This concept is why the Chaos Dwarves are so fun to play
Yes true.. The CA buff the mechanic because the noob player complains..
That s certainly make game no fun and challenging..
Old mechanic is better
Ngl this is a straight buff to Cathay gameplay, which already is pretty unchallenging in my opinion. I guess I'll be more comfortable cranking up the ultimate crisis mode as Cathay then
Yes.. True.. Unchallenging mean boring game
Hey thanks man your not a regular content creator you post real stuff we need to know!!!
Thanks mercy considering il be playing Cathay this was very useful
Wow, that hero level recruitment bonus!
This is great Mercy. Please make more videos similar to this.
I wonder if we can use the harmony to lower the dlc price
Nice one.
This looks like a really good change. The old harmony mechanic was one of the fucking worst mechanics they have ever made in my strong opinion.
My guess: going balanced / money serves you best.
If you get more money you need no recruit cost reduction.
If you don't have the money to build up your buildings your growth is worthless.
Your lategame armies don't sit around, benefiting from local upkeep reduction.
i feel like cathay will now grow much faster and will make more armys now with the new harmony system and you no longer have to look that you balance ying and yin out what was very annoying even you where researched tech what give you 2-3 yin or ying and 1 more yin or ying what meant you dont wont to lose the bonus relastions and free 45 growth factionwide and now no longer have to us your head much or look what buldings you have and what armys are leaded i really like the new system and cant wait to try it out
Administration center (Yin) is giving +3 recruit ranks for all heroes all provinces? that's crazy, you can easily recruit lvl 20 heroes early and lvl 40 heros no that long into the campaign. I also see they all give now all provinces/factionwide bonuses, like constructions cost reduction and bigger tarifts increases 25% for each of the other money building and extra sell cargo, seems like an income buff overall for Cathay possibly over the previous Harmony system.
That may be from commercial district, not sure.
@@MercytheMad Oh that makes more sense if not you basically have tons of inmortal heroes with all their spells from the get go.
going hard on either yin or yang should probably give some sort of debuff like +++growth ++local recruitment cost
how did you get an exalted hero of nurgle and a plague cultist in your army?
shhh! That's next video!
Your eyes are like owls 🦉 lol
Thanks for the explanation vid man! On a side note, am I right in assuming Confederation for Cathayan LLs is much easier this patch compared to before?
I didn't play enough Cathay before to really know, but I confedded Miao on abut turn 27 and Iron Dragon a few turns later in my Yuan Bo campaign. Was pretty easy.
damn i dont know if i like that. i like the idea of a local modifier too but giving up the global bonuses feels bad

Don't subscribe. This is a video, not a cult! :P
@@MercytheMad You heard him Lads. Unsub whenever you want!
how about resert rate? is getin a lot of the yang prowince make sense to do later in game?
Maybe? Try it when you get the game and let me know!
This doesn't necessarily let you optimize the Cathay campaign, but due to Yuan Bo's dragon form attack animations it makes it very easy for him to knock troops off of garrisoned walls, instantly killing them. I don't know if this is unique just to him, but I have seen it work on Lizardmen and Dark Elves walls, though the lizardman walls thus far seem to be the easiest (and funniest to watch accursed lizardmen go sailing off into space).
I haven't used Yuan Bo's dragon form much, but I am an enjoyer of knocking infantry off walls with other units. I'll give Yuan a go next time and see how he compares. I wander if there is a unit who is "The Best" and knocking infantry off walls? I guess anything with high mass and a large footprint would be best?
also i saw i think growth tier 3 yang reduce contruction by 5% wonder if have 20 of thess wuld be benefital to make 0 cost of bilding?
That's tied to another special mechanic, that building doesn't normally have that.
I like the old mechanic better..
Well old system was a little annoying but i think buffs was better...
Does this new mechanic works when the cathyan factions occupy the non-cathyan settlement or province?
Yes.
Is the free ancestral warrior summon done away with or is there another way to get it now?
You get it from the Bastion Compass direction.
Does this harmony change apply to all the Cathay Legendary Lords?
Yes
What happened to the army summon? Can you still get it without the item?
yes, you just have to choose the compass direction that has the summon attached
I don't really like those changes, the old harmony felt more impactful because it actually mattered that you keep balance to get big rewards, now it all rewards which defeat the purpose of being in harmony lorewise, imbalance is way better than balance.
managing harmony and recruiting lords/heroes to balance it every time you conquered new territory was about as fun as a hemorrhoid
@@blindwoozie it actually was fun guess you just dont like cathay
@@Smarackto odd assumption. Cathay is my favourite race in game 3, I play them regularly. but its all subjective, I'm personally happy about the harmony change, but it's okay if you're not!
So much better than the old system where it was shared for the whole faction. It being province bound and not affected by lords makes much more sense. It was a nightmare to balance for harmony before when recruiting new army.
I love this change, so much better than having to try and balance the entire faction, just to have it thrown into whack everytime you occupy a settlement
Now harmony is not so good
Being in harmony is actually not worth it anymore, ironic when in Cathay lore is striving in harmony.
Ok, but why tho? Why rework thee most engaging mechanic base game TWW3 had? Why not just iterate on the concept instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater? Absolutely a bewildering change for little reason.
A welcoming change, does technology stop giving yin or yang with this update ? I know I purposefully avoided some techs because I wanted to stay in harmony.
Tech does not mess with Harmony now.
This is a welcome change. Wasn't a big fan of the faction-wide harmony mechanic.
Also, the roster changes look interesting! 😉
Seems like an upgrade on the old system. Previously there was pretty much no reason to not be in harmony but with this you can adapt region to region and your whole empire don’t get screwed over if you conquer a new settlement or if a hero gets wounded. While I did like the balancing with the techs and would have liked perhaps a separate harmony minigame for just technology I’m overall happy with the changes.
you seem to have chaos heros in your army around 3:33... err what gives? ^^
You weren't supposed to see that yet. Another video coming later today
;) oops@@MercytheMad
Wow, this looks incredibly more involved than the previous - way more complex than just 'go for harmony - I love it! The province-wide focus is interesting too. Thanks for the concise explanation and info!
Thank the stars, no more factionwide harmony to constantly balance every turn and every time you take a settlement, research or recruit an army.
I was stuck with like 20 Yang armies because Yin becomes the economic powerhouse, better control etc. etc. While Yang was better for growth with building cost reduction etc.
They make the cathayan army upkeep way more costly after this buff.. This mechanic is trash.. The old one is better..
Rather has the normal upkeep and more challenging mechanic than easy mechanic with high upkeep..
CA is out of his mind
I like it being province based (This way you aren't thrown off balance whenever you capture a building) but imo thematically it makes no sense that going full yin or full yang gives you big bonuses with no drawbacks, Cathay is supposed to be all about harmony.
I would be fine with it if there was some kind of drawback to not being in harmony but like this it's pretty much just going to be full yin until you hit T5 then harmony, temporarily full yang for a province where you want to recruit a lot
Edit: Also that Yang growth building is definitely going to get nerfed, factionwide building cost reduction on a T3 settlement is OP, you can get free buildings with 16 of those when factoring in the yin focus 20% building cost reduction, hope it actually makes it to this patch at least so i can enjoy it for a bit
much more interesting than original system
