    I don’t have any moss poles but I enjoy learning about yours. In addition to the plant aesthetic of your poles I think they add a nice visual aesthetic to your plant room. With a boost from one’s imagination the clusters of the poles look a bit like a cityscape, at least I think so. Very nice and again, thanks for the education.

    Perfect timing today is watering day. My poles originally had pvc and wicking rope. They were impossible to keep wet. Right after you did your moss pole video so I remade all mine and bought the watering globes.
    I'm learning so much watching your videos. Your very personable/relatable. Thank You

    Hi! I am new to your channel, and I saw your last watering moss pole video and wanted to ask if you tried the globes 😅 and yeah, you did! I'm so glad that it's works for your poles and you don't have to move them anymore 😊
    Most of my plans in self watering pots with pon, so I just put wick cord into my moss poles and the end to reservoir. Works just fine! Maybe when you are going to build a new pole, you can try this method. Just put the wick end to a glass of water outside of your pot.
    Thanks for your videos, I really like them 😊

    This is really cool, Melissa. I wonder if you've considered trying wick watering just for the poles. If there was a wick attached to the poles--ideally inside--but it might work just as well if strung along back and tacked in place with pins, you could just put the end into a bucket of water every so often. You could probably water several poles at once. It would certainly be less labor intensive. They make wicks for bottom-watering in all different thicknesses for different applications and you can buy it in long lengths. It's not expensive. I'm really inspired to get some of my pothos on poles now!

    Hi Melissa. I love your videos! I’ve been an outdoor planter since I started 4 yrs ago. Just this year I’ve become addicted to indoor plants and have quite a nice small collection but, I’ve lost some. I’m still entry level, learning and learning what works.
    Two questions:
    1. How do use nematodes and mosquito dunks (you stated this in a previous reply to comment) with your indoor plants where it works for you?
    2. What kind of water do you use? Distilled water is so expensive and hard to find these days. It’s no longer on market shelves and again really expensive on Amazon where I can find it.
    I’m in need of help. đŸ™đŸ»

    Do you still have to moisten the sides of the poles so the water doesn't just run all over? Or does this spike being in the center allow for completely dry poles to be watered without pre-moistening?

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  Pƙed rokem +3

      I don’t have to pre-moisten them! Once the globe is situated it will slowly drip down and saturate the entire pole. The top doesn’t get watered where the globe is so if I have a plant at the top I have to moisten that part 😊

  • @lisaanglim9588
    @lisaanglim9588 Pƙed rokem +1

    Melissa I have a question. When you’re watering your moss poles isn’t the point to keep it wet for the roots that are growing into the pole? If you stop above the leaf, doesn’t that rob the roots of water?

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  Pƙed rokem +1

      Yes, it’s important to keep them moist but I find it continues to drip several more inches. I do a thorough watering once a week so I would rather give a little less mid week so I don’t overwater the soil. It just takes some getting used to. When you have so many poles it’s hard to get the watering perfect every time on all of them. I try my best to keep them moist but they do dry out occasionally. As long as they don’t go dry for too long they’ll be okay 😊

    What do you call those pins to hold vines up. Are they on Amazon maybe.

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  Pƙed rokem

      They’re called greening pins! I linked them in my moss pole supplies down below in the description â˜ș

  • @beckypackqualls2745
    @beckypackqualls2745 Pƙed rokem

    When you make the pole, couldn’t you just lay a straw, bamboo stick or some similar object towards the top end? Then, you could just remove the stick after the pole is made? (For a place to insert the watering device)

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  Pƙed rokem

      I suppose you could but it might make a mess pulling it out with the moss since it’s a fresh pole. The moss tends to be a little bit of a mess until it stars to compact more. It’s pretty easy to shimmy it in from the top 😂

  • @SuperUsername147

    What do you do if you go on vacation or need to be away for a week? I want to do moss poles but I’m away for a week about once a year and i don’t want to put all the work in if one week away is going to kill the root system in the poles.

    Is the entire world sponsored by Amazon?
    The regular water globes are so much cheaper and they do not "splash" all over the place. Or use a cheap water bottle with holes in the lid and tip upside down.

    • @bma8013
      @bma8013 Pƙed 9 měsĂci

      A typical plastic cup with holes in the bottom fits right into the top of a normal sized moss pole. Put the cup in and fill it, save yourself $20. For cost
 you probably already have the cheap party cups.
      On a side note, The way people shove these into things a moss pole/soil gives me the heebie-bageebies from chemistry classes. Just a matter of time before one breaks and someone unintentionally inserts a glass watering globe into their hand.
