JK has put in master level hours. He is the youngest member of BTS and main vocalist. They have been training very hard since 2011 and debuted as a group in 2013, when he was only 15. The training regime for KPOP idols is on a completely different level compared to boy bands in the West, and the proof is in the pudding. JK is called the âGolden Maknaeâ because everything he touches turns to gold (Maknae means the youngest). Just this week Diana Ross recognized Jung Kook on her website. She listed this song as one of her faves and also complemented him and the backup dancers on their dancing (the original, although Iâm sure she loves the remix, too). Canât get much higher than that AND releasing a song with Usher c as far as MJ goes. I think he would have loved JK, because besides being super talented, he is also a very kind, humble person. Superstar fame has not gone to his head, or to any of the other members of BTSâs heads.

That was a great reaction. Thank you. Jung Kook is still a member of BTS . In South Korea every male has to do at least 18 months of mandatory military service by a certain age so the group decided to do their time pretty close together. The oldest member, Jin, joined back in December of 2023 and just got out on the 12th of June. One other member, J Hope, will be getting out in October of this year and the rest will get out in June of next year. For the past year and a half, the six members who went in after Jin have been working on their solo projects. This is when Jung Kook did Standing Next to You along with his album Golden.
BTS is currently the largest group in the world. We don't hear as much about them in the US because they don't play the music industry's game of pay to be played. That's a very long subject so I'm not going to get into it. They are a 5 time Grammy nominated group as well as receiving the AMA' s Artist of the Year award plus 10 other AMA awards. The group consists of 3 rappers, 2 of which were underground rappers before they became part of BTS, and 4 vocalists. They originally started (Back in 2013) as more of a Hip hop / rap group but now do almost every kind of music. They either write /produce their own music or at least have a hand in it in some way. They have 3 songs fully in english which were done during COVID and were written by other people. These are very light fun songs just meant to cheer up ARMY's during those difficult times. These songs are Dynamite, Butter , and Permission to Dance. The choreography during the song Dynamite is almost totally a dedication to Michael Jackson. The Jackson family has acknowledged the guys love for MJ and has given their approval. The guys were so thrilled when they got to meet Janet Jackson and she seemed so please to meet them in turn.

RM (formally known as Rap Monster but doesn't use that anymore), or his real name Kim Namjoon, is the leader of the group and one of the previous underground rappers. Main lyricist. He was born In 1994
Jin, or his real name Kim Seokjin, oldest of the group and is a vocalist. He is the one that just got out of the military and (we think) is working on his solo stuff since he didn't have time before enlisting. He was born in 1992.
Suga, or his solo name of Agust D, real name Min Yoongi. He is one of their main producers. He was born in1993.
J-Hope, real name Jung Hoseok. The 3rd rapper and a fantastic dancer. Was trained in street dancing and is one of the best. He was born in 1994.
Jimin, real name Park Jimin. He is a vocalist and has a distinctive high voice as well as being a fabulous dancer who's also trained in dancing prior to becoming part of BTS. He was born in 1995.
V, real name Kim Taehyung. He is a vocalist with a soulful baritone voice who can also sing in higher registers. He was born in 1995.
Jung-Kook, also known as JK, Golden Maknae (Golden Youngest). He is literally good at anything he puts his mind to. He is the lead singer who has perfect pitch. He was born in 1997.
They all have written and produced music. An extremely talented group of guys.
There is to much to go into here but I suggest looking into these guys. Their fandom, ARMY, is one of the largest in the world and is made up of ALL kinds and ages of people. It is NOT just for young girls. I, myself, am 63 and my mom is 96 and we have been ARMY for several years. There are a lot of men in the fandom. Their music and lyrics speak on so many deep topics that almost everyone can find a song (or two, lol) that will speak to them. If you do want to get into them, I suggest looking into an introduction video by Taylor Mari, but only after you've watched a few of their videos like Mic Drop or, for something different, Black Swan. I'm sure ARMY's can suggest a ton of songs.

BTS gave speeches at UN and White House, youngest persons to receive cultural merit from their country, are UNICEF ambassadors, first ever kpop artists to top billboard, most awarded artists in history with 1400 awards and counting, won AMA's and BBMA's, JK performed opening song at FIFA WORLDCUP 2022 and now JIN the oldest member will be the TOURCHBEARER at OLYMPICS 2024 in France.
6 of the 7 members are currently serving in the military, JIN just completed his in june. In the meantime they left so much solo projects for ARMY, their fanbase.

Thanks for taking the time to encounter something new!! I discovered BTS about six years ago (as a Texas mom, who would ONLY listen to alt-rock) and they just blew my mind, I've never looked back!! So much talent and just plain decency and goodness in this group of seven young men. I hope you keep listening and learning - music has no language, their Korean language songs are better IMO than the English ones and I don't speak Korean!

Jungkook is a member of BTS, the youngest in the group and the lead vocal. BTS is definitely a rabbit hole you will not come back from.
Currently 6 of the 7 members are serving mandatory military service, Jungkook being one of them. He wonât be back till June 2025. We just had the oldest of the group complete his service which is 18 months.
BTS not only has music videos and live performance videos you can react too. They also have a variety show and videos of their staycations and vacations. One thing you will quickly learn is that BTS is not like any other group. Fair warning that we, ARMY (BTS fandom) are very protective of them. They have a special story and they love their fans just as much their fans love them.

Loved your reaction to Jungkook. He has an album called Golden and you should check it out some time. There are some music videos from that album. He also has a version of "Standing Next to You" with a live band. Check out his iHeart Radio performance. The other music videos are "3D" and "Seven". By now you would know what Jungkook is a member of the biggest boyband in the world BTS. Their music and performances are phenomenal and next level. I hope you get around to reacting to them. One of their English pop songs "Dynamite" has 1.8 Billion views.
Oh as a hip hop fan, you'll probably like BTS (group that Jungkook is from - he's still in BTS, btw, but most of the members are now in the military service, so they can't perform together). They started as a hip hop group and their roots are very much still there. Check out Black Swan or for something lighter Mic Drop. Also BTS' rappers (RM, J-hope and Suga/Agust D) are some of the best in the industry.
Btw, you actually might have heard of BTS even if you didn't know it was them. It's really difficult to find anyone who haven't heard Dynamite, for example, even in passing.

You cant go wrong with any of jungkooks songs, bts songs or any other members of bts solo work. They are all amazing, if you want to check out bts as a group anything is good. They have black swan, on kinetic manifesto, fake love, butterfly, mic drop, blood sweat and tears, fire, dope, Run BTS, i mean the list goes on and on. Nothing is bad, and the songs always sound different, they love to play around with music, and different genres, of course their roots are always going to be hip hop, they also have 3 songs as a group in english, butter, dynamite, and permission to dance, those are more on the pop side
The line, "how we left and right is something we control", is a reference to the song, Left and Right that he did with Charlie Puth. He has several references in his songs that sort of, pay tribute to work he's done with his group, BTS, etc.
This is a homage to michael Jacksson, Jungkook joined the company when he was 13 and he became a trainee, so this guys celebrate 11 years last month. Bts song Dynamite is also a homage to Michael Jacksson. Thank you for reacting to this! BTS are the biggest group, and their music is so diverse. They all contribute to writing and producing in their albums. I would suggest starting with classics like: Black Swan, ON: Kinetic Manifesto Film and Mic Drop (ft Steve Aoki).
Then you can delve into more of their solo work, which is so different from each other. Since you like rap, you could start with the BTS rapline. Their rapline is elite!
j-hope wrote a song (On The Street) and asked j-cole to collaborate with him on this, Arson is another awesome track of his and I personally love Hangsang and Blue Side.
SUGA goes by Agust D on his solo work, and you could start with his trilogy: Daechwita - Haegeum - Amygdala.
Then RM, who is the leader, is such a great writer. You could check out Wildflower, Nuts and Groin (yes, Nuts and Groin are two separate songs).
Then there is more to discover with the rest of the vocalists: Jin, Jimin and V.
But all of their work is so diverse and cover so many different genres without making the songs feel disconnected. I hope I see more of your reactions to them in the future and thanks again for reacting to Jung Kook's work.

You mentioned listening to the original song -- I assume that included watching the original MV too? In that one - and the 'choreography MV' version - he's even more 'classic MJ' because of the outfits. Here, they went for a different vibe visually (and his hair is even shorter because this was the last MV he shot before prepping for mandatory military service). Hope you continue with more reactions to BTS -- they have tons of group and solo work. If you're rap-inclined, you'll find lots of interesting jewels down this rabbit hole. He doesnât write his own English lyrics, but his Korean lyrics have a lot of deep meaning. For examples see Still With You, and the BTS song Magic Shop. However, there are a lot of big names who have written English lyrics for him including Shawn Mendez, Ed Sheeran, and Charlie Puth to name a few.

For this song and choreography he was clearly inspired by MJ, or better said it was a tribute to him, since he's a big inspiration. But he has songs with different vibes. And BTS, the band he's a part of, also is known for having so many "sounds", they have pop songs, hip hop, r&b, rap, ballads. I hope you give them a chance, they are not the usual "boyband", they are amazing artists (writers, composers, producers)

As youâre a fan of multiple genres I feel like youâre going to love all of Jungkookâs singles. His official solo debut single Seven with Latto was a massive global hit last year & itâs likely that you may have already heard it, his follow up single 3D with Jack Harlow has an early 2000âs vibe, he then collaborated with The Kid Laroi & Central Cee on Too Much before dropping his 1st solo album Golden with the title track being Standing Next To You
Jungkook is an incredible live performer & if you like there are a lot of his live performances that are all great but the most important would be when he performed his song Dreamers at the opening of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, it was this performance that he received a lot of the initial comparisons with Michael Jackson for. But he also did some great live performances for both iHeart & Audacy as part of his Golden promotions

Ok now that you discovered Jungkook, you need to check out BTs. Donât confuse them with the tradition American/western boy bands. BTS is in a class of their own. 7 superstars in one group. BTS started as a hip hop group before they became a kpop group. Their roots are in hip hip but they cover all genres. Each of them could be solo superstars but they chose to stay as a group but they do solo projects as well. Wait til you see their iconic work. I always suggest you start with their Korea work like Blood, Sweat & Tears, DNA and Fake Love. Their famous western/English songs like Butter and Dynamite are meant to be fun and lighthearted summer songs released during Covid as feel good songs. Their discography is huge so there is a massive amount of material to react to. Just a little background.
JK has always loved and been drawn to western pop, so when he had this opportunity to make a full solo album (Golden) in English with western writers and producers, he seized it. He didnât write any of the songs on the album this time but picked them so that they covered the arc of a relationship and gave him a chance to try some new styles (to him). He isnât actually fluent in English although you wouldnât know it from listening to his delivery on these songs.
The background dancers in the video are all well known western choreographers and JKâs heroes. Most of them have collaborated with BTS before.
Heâs the Main vocalist in BTS, and has been since they debuted in 2013, when he was 15. Itâs a somewhat different role than the lead vocalist in a western group, being more of a vocal anchor for the seven distinct voices in BTS. In their songs the vocals tend to rotate through all the members but he provides a lot of the harmonies and adlibs as well as delivering his own parts. All of the members are capable of having solo careers (and most have released solo work alongside the group over the years), but the last couple of years have seen them more fully explore their individual directions as they prepared for and entered their military enlistments. They are planning to reunite as a group in the second half of 2025 when they have all completed their service.
BTS has its roots in Hip Hop and the three rappers in the group are the main songwriters, so you should find plenty to enjoy in their huge, diverse discography. Most of their output is in Korean with a dash of English, or in Japanese, so you will need subtitles. They often go deep, exploring philosophy, psychology, art, literature and culture. They can at times be hard hitting critics of their society and domestic politics.
As a small taste of their diversity, I am going to suggest a pair of related songs from 2020, âBlack Swanâ and âON (Kinetic Manifesto)â, along with âMic Drop (Steve Aoki remix)â from 2017. I actually prefer the original version of Mic Drop, which is more rock than EDM and which they perform live, but it can be problematic reacting to live performances on CZcams without running into copyright issues.

He loves ARMY (their fanbase), as do the rest of BTS. They treat each other as brothers and they treat ARMY as a precious gift in their lives. You won't find anything else quite like BTS. Jungkook is a member of BTS. Since you like dance, I highly recommend BTSâs ON Kinetic Manifesto and BTSâs Black Swan MV, both different vibes than this, but excellent songs and shows different dance styles.

If no one has told you yet the band he comes from has a rap line! They do unit songs and all have thier own solo tracks. Check out the Cyphers for all three together or look for RM, J-Hope, and Agust D to check out thier solo work. The group as a whole was supposed to be a hip hop group initially and pivoted to pop late in development and you can really tell.
In Kpop Taemin is called the "MJ of Kpop" with songs like Danger, Want, criminal, Idea, etc., and has been called that for years. He has been in the industry for 16 years with dance and vocals comparable to MJ.
Jungkook is more similar to Bruno Mars and Usher, with MJ's influence. He is fantastic!

72 year old BTS Army here. Jungkook or JK for short is the main vocalist for the Global phenomenon BTS. BTS was recently named as the "Most Streamed Artist of All Time", surpassing the legendary Michael Jackson. His label announced this track as a subtle homage to MJ. It was his third Official solo release leading up to his record setting album "Golden" that currently has 3.4 billion streams. Jung Kook is known for his rare perfect pitch. He did a big feature song with Charlie Puth called "Left and Right" a couple of years ago. Charlie is known for his perfect pitch and commented on JK having it as well.
None of Jung Kook's solo releases are Kpop. They are all English and all American productions and should not be considered Kpop for that reason. Even his dancers are famous American dancer/choreographers. Jungkook is the only Korean involved with creating his solo work. This song was written and produced by Grammy Award winning Producer of the Year Andrew Watt and a team of notable American/Canadian songwriters Jon Bellion and Ali Tamposi. Watt and Cirkut plus others from their team of songwriters were also involved with his first official solo release "Seven" Feat. Latto and also his album "Golden". Jk was part of the origional BTS dance line of J Hope, Jimin, and JK but V got added after his solo SINGULARITY. All BTS are great dancers now but those 4 are the official dance line of BTS

Normally Army doesnât suggest this as an introduction to BTS but if you like pop and MJ then at some point check out Dynamite, a rare song they didnât write or produce. Thatâs why so many artists want to work with them. Suga has won awards producing for other artists in the past. They are masters of multi layered rhymes, rhythms and intensely meaningful lyrics. Heâs been dancing since he was 13 and became a member of BTS in 2011 and they debuted in 2013, when he was 15. Heâs also trained with J-Hope and Jimin who both started taking dance lessons at 10 & 13 respectively. J-Hope won 1st place in the national dance competition in 2008. Welcome! 60 yr old Army here. You are about to be entertained. This is just a taste. Jk is part of a 7 member group, equally talented known as BTS. They started their solo parts a couple years ago, roughly when each member was required to serve in the military, S Korea. The oldest member Jin was just released in June. We are waiting for his solo album. Each member will shock based on own talent. They have been together, preforming since June 2013.

Jungkook is a genius dancer (and vocalist) and some of his movements remind me of VERY old school performers...specifically James Brown. He also has more of a muscular body type like JB although he can be extraordinary fluid. Am I the only one who see's the similarity between JB and JK?
