They never lip sync; they sometimes use a backing track. They practice singing running on treadmills. For some reason, Suga particularly takes offense to accusations of lip syncing, so he will stop singing or rapping in the middle of a song and look at the camera and smirk, to show there is no voice singing in the background. He is such a mood. You will like them even better once you get to know them. Borahae!

Until they felt they wanted to bring joy to ARMY and not just ARMY, to reach as many people as possible in that gloomy time to make people's life a little lighter and a little brighter. I know intellectually that Dynamite is not their best song. I know that I don't like it nearly as much as majority of their other songs. But it comes on, and you cannot help liking it! @@ReactionsThatRock to add on, Jin mentioned not too long ago that a) the vocalists used to complain, when the rappers said everyone should do live vocals, that it was easy for them to say it because they didn’t need to worry about pitch, and b) when he competed with his (prob non celeb) friends on breath-holding, he realised that he could do it for far longer than any of them, which he took as evidence that his vocation had endowed him with some unusual physical capacities.
They train like top athletes - working with coaches, physical therapists, and doctors - to be able to pull off their performances and stay on top of the game. I had not realised the intensity of their regimen until I got to know them better. Most normal people wouldn’t be able to keep up even with a support ecosystem.
I won’t say that there haven’t been times where the backing track is louder than the live vocals (especially with some pre-recorded performances, probably due to production demands), or that there isn’t sometimes a little bit of post production clean up, but when they say they’re live, they really are live.

When they use support of a backing track, they don't move their mouths to lip sync. Most of the time backing track is quieter then their live mics... You can hear breathing and sometimes their clothes catch on the mics. They sound amazing live and for concerts they rearrange most of the setlist for a live band! Their live performances remind me of a Broadway play; every move is choreographed and practiced for months. The production is incredible and over the top expensive. Even on tour, JK stayed after every performance to practice Euphoria, which had a lift where he soars over the crowd singing. They are so confident because they have over practiced. When they were starting out with no money they promised each other that each record/video would be better than the last. As they got more money, they pulled out all the stops. An example of this is the 2019 MAMA Awards show where they performed for 40 minutes with about 50 extras, including animals.

For anyone who's in to rock (and yes, I'm cramming metal under that very large umbrella), there are a few songs I can recommend:
There are two songs that have rockier remixes. Fake Love (Rocking Vibe Mix) sounds intentional and good. DNA (Pedal 2 LA Mix) is reminescent of late 80's rock, but to me it feels disconnected, and just like someone put a generic rock track on top of DNA. Still, it's worth to have a listen to it.
As for solo stuff, Agust D's Snooze and J-hope's More are musts. And out of left field came RM's Around the World in a Day. That song is just too good!
As for BTS as a group, I cannot leave the song Run. Even though it isn't pure rock, there's just something about the song itself and the music video that tickles my pop punk soul. (And if one mixes it up with the song Run BTS, no harm done. That one is mighty fine too!)

The problem is that you're so used to American entertainers and they really don't do anything, but these boys actually do.There was a time that they worked like twelve to sixteen hours a day just dancing and yes , they sing on the treadmill while running. They have trained for this while our entertainers do not. I know I know it's unbelievable but these boys are the real thing. If you ever get a chance to see them in concert you would be amazed and yes , they are singing live while they're dancing. BTS doesn't know HOW to lip sync.
    Literally.
Even in 98% of their MV's, they're singing the song while filming. Obviously editing, etc. makes it seem like lip syncing in the music videos, but most of the time, they're not.
Butter, Dynamite, and Permission to Dance were all made partly as "feel good" songs for the pandemic and partly as a bid to be more "western friendly" to try to nab a Grammy.
Speaking as a dancer (and club kid back in the day)? I do love them.
Do I feel they're some of BTS' "best songs ever"? No. Not even close.
(Though that Dynamite performance was one of my favorites. 2nd only to them performing it on Jimmy Fallon. Since the song does kind of have a retro/80's feel to it, everyone was telling them they should have been roller skating in the MV. Jimmy Fallon? They did!!! Sadly, not TO the performance, but afterwards. My skater heart still cried tears of joy. LOL)

This live performance was obviously pre-recorded because of the pandemic, and when they pre-record performances they might do a couple takes, but live in concert you can hear them so much more clearly with less production and honestly in my opinion they sound even better!
Also I know comments are saying bts NEVER lip-sync, but there have been two performances in their 10 year long career where they lip-synced. And honestly it showed why they usually never do it lmao. None of them could move their mouths to the track properly to save their lives, we can see that sometimes in their music videos too😭

They are singing live but I think they had to film it in chunks and not as a single take only because they physically couldn't get from one location to another as quickly as they do on screen. At the time since they couldn't have any audiences and everything had to be pre-recorded for show performances because it was the pandemic, they did a lot of experimentation with things that could only be done by filming in advance. For Dynamite in particular, they changed up every single performance with staging changes so that it was never boring.
You probably recognize Dynamite because it was EVERYWHERE (and still pops up regularly), especially on shows and at sporting events. ( Marching bands are still playing it at halftime.) I personally like Butter the best, too, but Dynamite is still out there. ( There's a BTS/Despicable Me 4 collab coming this summer but we don't know yet if there will be new music or repurposing of either of these songs.

  • @EmmieUniverse
    @EmmieUniverse Před 8 dny +1

They actually often sound better live than on the track. It's very weird. They've proven time and time again that they sing live and can even hit the highest notes consistently. Sometimes for the very hard choreo they let the backing track take over and they just don't sing a little bit. But yeah, definitely live. They rather mess it up sometimes than lipsync. Honestly there's some examples where they mess up. Especially Jimin has a very delicate voice and when he can't hear the tracking in-ear well bc of busy environments he can really go off key. But most of the times he's spot and spot on and he does the highest notes in the group.
Haters love to use those instances to tell people bts can't sing live, it's funny bc if you can't hear your in-ear it's very hard to be on key and there's 5000 more times he does hit the notes.

Where I live every morning the neighbours came out of their house's spaced themselves out along the road within their individual family group and we danced to the 3 BTS songs. We laughed, talked, sung with our masks on. It was a pick me up for a lot of us and others would open their windows and cheer from their windows and conversations were held after we'd been dancing in in the street while still keeping to the Social Distancing rules.

Yes you probably heard Dynamite during the Samsung Flip Phone commercials.
Yep Dynamite was live. They practice on treadmills and even wear masks while practicing to increase their lung capacity so it’s easy for them to sing live during performances.
I am a metal fan and I also love HipHop & Rap. Their early stuff to drew me in.
RM is the lyricist (poet, storytelling & word player) of the group. His background is underground rapper.
Suga’s lyrics are raw and talks about social anxiety, depression and mental health issues. His background is underground rapper and producer.
Jhope learned to rap from RM & Suga but rap like he dances. He also switches between rapping and singing and his flow is in and out of the beats. He is the Lead Dancer. His background is street dancing.
Jungkook is the main vocalist but actually started as a rapper. Because of his vocal abilities the changed his role to Main Singer. He does a lot of the add libs. He can even scat. His background was singing but was very very shy when he started.
V has the biggest vocal range from deep smooth jazzy vocals to really high notes. His background is he went to an audition to support a friend and was asked if wanted to try out. He sang, danced, rapped and played the saxophone. He was the only to passed the audition. He was an all rounder.
Jin had no experience. He was going to acting school. He was approached on the street for his looks. He had to learn to sing and dance. His triple high notes is absolutely insane.
Jimin’s teacher encouraged him to try out for BigHit. He had no singing experience and had no training. He went in and watch the other members training. After his training was over he would practice on his own. His voice is very unique. He is the main dancer of the group. His background is he went to school for modern dance and has black belts in several different types of martial arts which he incorporates in his dance.
They are really good at combining musical genres have meaningful lyrics.
Dynamite, Butter and Permission To Dance came out during the pandemic. They did not actually write/produce these 3 songs accept the rapping parts. The songs were written by outside writers. The sang it all in English and made it poppy to lift peoples spirits while in lockdown around the world. It seemed to help.
Since you like metal check out their more aggressive music to start out.
    Rappers -
*Outro: Tear live is a must
*Cyphers 1 thru 4 and Cypher Melody all lives (Cypher 3 live in Busan is my favorite very aggressive)
    *Ddaeng
    *Ugh
    Solo
*Set Me Free Part 2 by Jimin
*Jhope’s Jack in the Box performance at Lallapalooza in Chicago. The version of the songs at this concert were darker than the the MV versions. The live band was awesome.
    Full Group
*Baepsae (translated Crow Tit aka a small bird with very short legs) aka silver spoon live
    *Dionysus live
*Mic Drop & Run BTS live in Busan
Of course these are just suggestions but it what brought a lot of us over from metal.

Think of it this way Dance is just your body moving to the beat of the music doesn't have to elaborate it can be a simple nodding of the head or clapping your hands, moving your foot or arm to the beat of the music. It's the music that make's your body want to move often you find your own body moving without even realise it's doing it. Our bodies as humans respond to music as an automatic response to the stimulation of the beats and patterns of notes.

I know everyone already told you they are not lip synching, that they in fact never do live, only for things like MVs, and it's a pride point for them and something they are known for, that they train for it, etc.
But! here are some things to consider to help you notice that they are not lip synching:
    * You can hear their breaths
    * Notice the change in sound quality when V and RM are inside the car, VS the natural reverb of the larger set.
    * They are wearing mics and earpieces. You would not do that for a lip synch performance because it's not aesthetic and it's more fiddly pieces of equipment to have crew and performers deal with for no reason if they are not being used.
    * If you listen to the studio version you will notice slight variations in their delivery in this live performance.
Yep, they really do this live. In live performances, if they cannot sing a particular note or part because of hard choreo, they just don't. They let backing tracks play, and you can clearly hear the difference. If they are holding a mic in their hand, they will put it away from their face and they don't try to mouth the lyrics if they are not really singing.

    • @ReactionsThatRock
      @ReactionsThatRock  Před 2 dny

Those are the reasons I’d asked in the first place because EVERY producer on the planet would have made them lip synch that. I had assumed it would have been once I saw the type of video it was but there were the little variances in sound that made me wonder.
As for the mics and ear pieces, that’s actually quite common for a lip synch performance as an effort to make it look real. I’ve seen it live from side-stage way too many times. 🥲

Lol, yeah, nope. It's unusual even for Korea actually, what they do. BTS have always been this way, from the beginning. In fact, they are so good they were accused of lip synching in their early years, even though that's common in their industry so hardly something to attack them over. But they get attacked over every damned thing and always have, even when they were broke nobodies from their nothing label that had 10 employees and struggled to feed and house them.
So they started leaving random bits off lines, especially Suga. They also do a lot of adlibs live, whether vocal runs and flourishes or rap hypes and noises or just commentary. They are very playful with the audience and each other and bounce off each other a lot. They are even better live than their studio tracks. They are phenomenal.
They are all pretty damned stable while singing and doing hard choreo, but Jungkook the most. He seems inhuman sometimes with the breath control and core strength he has.

No they are live they only ever sing live, they'll often have a backing track you'll hear when they decide to miss a lyric occasionally if they can't catch their breath and then you might even hear their gasp over a much quieter backing track. Other time's especially Suga he'll remove his mic and just stand still and you'll here only the music. They do this and openingly to show they are not lip syncing, it's a pride and professional thing.
Oh yes and their mic's are always live, they are not for show.

If u want to know more about them, you should react to "Guide to BTS Members The 7 Bangtan by Taylor.
This is best introduction video, if u want to knoe more about the struggles they been through you can react to "Nobodies to Legends"
I wish you will react more bts live performance, Songs or even their funny compilations. If u have more time you should also react other kpop groups.
My first kpop songs that i heard is Wondergirls - Nobody, PSY - gangnam style and 2ne1 - i don't care. I heard about kpop but before i don't really get into it, but BTS is the first Group that i stan and because of BTS i also stan Other Kpop Groups.
I been a army since 2020 so in mid of pandemic, they really make me smile and happy.

I'm expecting my Christmas card. ROFL It took me a long time and a lot of exposure to BTS before I decided I liked Butter. Dynamite made me happy from the start. But Permission to Dance is my fav of the English songs, because, while it's 'pop-py,' it's also verging on being rebellious in a non-rebel kinda way. It's full of references and easter eggs, but even without knowing any of that, it gives homage to the human spirit's ability to keep going, even during a global pandemic. I'm sorry you didn't complete the English trilogy. But it's truly not in your wheelhouse, so it's fine.

There's this song of them, louder than bombs which was army's favourite but was never performed live.
When army asked RM, he said that song is very difficult to sing live. They can choose to lipsync tho to please army but they choose not to. I do hope they perform it live after they come back from the military.
They sometimes stop singing in the middle of a performance to prove that they're singing live.

They do not lip sync they use backing tracks, but it is always live never phoned in like a lot of American singers do
I think people were saying to stay away because BTS is more known for their Konglish lyrics Korean/english which as an American I prefer even thought I don't speak Korean, those songs have very deep meanings in their lyrics where the all English ones are just pop to make people happy during the pandemic
You may have heard this in a store or something because Dynamite went #1 on the billboard hot 100 chart so it was really popular
Love your honesty and actually I did not like Dynamite when I heard it either, butter was much better and the only other all English song BTS has done is PTD permission to dance, it's not bad and the dance is actually using sign language which Tae who as well as JK know sign language very well

Having fun going through your individual reactions. Concerned about how you’ll get over your aversion to dancing…as a group they kill at dance! But maybe their live shows loosen that up. More knowledgeable army will be able to point you to the best recordings of the songs
    you might vibe

      I’m working on it.
I’m not opposed to dancing. I’m just so used to seeing it as cheesy boy band stuff. My wife loved USHER when he came out and his dancing was refreshing because it seemed to serve the music. I saw that in JK, too.
The BTS dancing seems to serve the music and that’s a good thing. It’s just an art I need to learn to appreciate.
Of course, I dated a dancer in my late teens and she broke my heart… so maybe I’m just projecting. 🤣

Some Korean groups that may have not been mentioned that I think you would like and many people don't react to are Monsta X and The Rose.
Monsta X are Beast idols, so their look and sound are different. My favorite song is "Chaotic," but "Gambler" is the one that pulled me in.
The Rose is an indie rock band. I recommend "Back to Me" or maybe "Alive."

I'm personally a Dynamite over Butter girlie but totally respect your honesty. I just think it's a perfectly crafted pop song, but since that's not your thing I get why you'd like butter better. It's more edgy. Would still suggest you watch the MV for Dynamite. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and own faves. 💜

Like many said, Dynamite was live vocals. The studio version is more processed and has a habit of removing their unique tones tbh. So i prefer their live perfomances. I think BTS' music has moods. Like when I'm doing home related stuff like cleaning and cooking, songs like Dynamite, etc are great tbh. Just have fun 👍

I don't know who told you NOT to listen to these songs. THEY ARE GREAT! I will say, that since you are a rock enthusiast, I understand why some ARMY would tell you not to react to these FIRST. Their English songs are definitely more on the poppy side and as an introduction to BTS for someone from the West (where the idea of "boy bands" is so ingrained), we tend to steer you towards more of their less poppy tracks first so you don't dismiss them out of hand as "just like X band".

  • @riteshsenpai6572

BTS does not lip-sync during their performances. Instead, they sing live, but sometimes, due to their intricate and demanding choreography, they use backup vocals. These pre-recorded vocals help fill in the gaps and support the live performance, ensuring that the quality of the music remains consistent even when the choreography is particularly challenging. This approach allows them to maintain their high-energy dance routines while still delivering a strong vocal performance.💜💜

  • @alisong5011
    @alisong5011 Před 6 dny

They tend not to lip synch (they are not very good at it), they occasionally do if the production requires it (not all programs do live sound)but with this production I suspect they are performing live with a backing track, as well as post production and multiple takes. There are many more raw performances than this. But they also performed dynamite live about 150 times so they are pretty dialed ln!

Their recorded live performances all sound different, it would be challenging to pre record vocals for each performance. By deduction it is live, perhaps more than 1 take for the perfect video.

Okay, had to go for a second comment here. LOL (Didn't want it getting lost at the bottom of my first.)
IF you haven't done the Taylor Mari Guide yet...there are some unwritten rules to it.
1 - DO grab a drink (and maybe a snack, too!). It's long. LOL
2 - DO grab pen and paper! Taylor lists ALL pertinent songs in the upper left of the screen when they play. You most likely will find one or two you want to hear instead of just going off others' recommendations.
3 - DO use the pause button!!! Long video = lots of info! And it goes by quickly. (I've lost count of the number of reactors who've said "This is so long!" - get to the end - "Wait...that's it???" LOL) Anyway, allow yourself time to process. (Also note their birth names are given, but in Korea, last names come first.)
4 - DO you the pause button!!! Why did I say this one twice? Well, Taylor (at least, at the time) hated her own voice, so it's all typed. Not all of us read at the same speed, of course, and we don't want you to miss anything.
5 - DO use the pause button!!! Yep...a third time I say this. But...why *again* ??? If you do have to avert your eyes from the screen, even for a brief second, you WILL miss something. Plus we want to hear your thoughts as it's happening.
6 - Do NOT do the video if you don't have time. Please give it the respect it deserves. Which I already think you will since you did mention you haven't had time to do it somewhat recently.
7 - Do NOT worry about length! Even if you have to do it in "parts", then put those parts together OR upload each part individually, we'll be here! NOTE: For the "Butter" promotions? HYBE got us GOOD. They did a promotional video. Of butter. Melting. In animation form. FOR AN HOUR! Us idiots sat and watched the whole thing. Granted, in fairness, I think the majority of us WERE expecting them to get on the screen and talk about it or something but...nope! Just an hour of animated butter melting...LOL
8 - Remember that notebook and pen? Use that if you have questions, too! MOST questions people have are answered in the video, but there have also been a few that weren't. Write those down. If Taylor answers them later in the video, cool, cross that question off the list...if she doesn't, we're more than happy to help!
PERSONAL NOTE: I don't trust reactors who take less than an hour. It's a 47-minute video. Most people are going to have comments - and if you don't get your thoughts out "right away", with a 47-minute video - you WILL forget by the end...or most people would. (I know I'D never be able to "remember it all" with one viewing. LOL)
