Actually, they've repeatedly stated that the years between 72 and 74 were "very quiet" for them and that they could not get a hit record. This is what led them to move to the USA to try and reignite their careers.

Yes, I believe Rob and Mo both quit a while before they passed.
Robin quit much earlier in his life, Barry quit I believe in the late 70's but Mo smoked until the end. Sadly.
