I was a young teenager when this song came out. I loved it. I still love it today. They are one of the greatest bands of all time. Great songwriters, too.
Unlike "music" played on the radio today these songs by the BeeGees will be played for decades.

Barry has said that Robert Stigwood told them, "Don't write for today, write for 40 years from now." He was right. All their hits from the early years have held up. Only a bit of the their very early stuff is deeply rooted in the 60s period and sounds like it. The rest if their music is timeless. Barry wants their music to "live on." He does not have to worry. It will.....it does....

He can’t dance now. He is eaten up with arthritis, that’s why his face is so puffy, all the steroids. But he can still sing.
@@Razza1941 Unfortunately, one obvious side effect of prednisone is making the face puffy and round. Medical personnel sometimes refer to it as moon face.

The Bee Gees changed up their music A LOT, at least 4 times, they switched to different genres; I think their music intelligence is what made them, even though they had to endure this period of time which was a stupid flat-out rejection of anything previous. That was the "disco-sucks" era, and its obstinance to accept funk and falsetto and dance music was really the death of any decent music. Country held on and rap came in but artists like this had no choice but to drift into Country music. I miss their rock and how they shifted the style of falsetto into their music, and I miss their harmonization. I miss their sound. They were a legend, and Barry still is.

obviously the bee gees are iconic and they are amazing live. Im just wondering why did the show made them lip sing? the mics are not plugged in, including Mo's guitar. I doubt they had any wireless packs back then. Not blaming the Bee Gees, because they can clearly perform live very well. I blame the show for not having them truly perform live.
I have loved The Bee Gees since the seventies - too bad this was lip-synced. They and Home Free are my two favorite all time groups, the common threads being incredible harmonies and excellent live performers.

Lip syncing is the default method on most TV shows. It eliminates the need for the full band to set up, it ensures the exact length of the performance, it guarantees the performance won't suck or the performers do anything inappropriate with the lyrics. The Bee Gees were one band that always sounded as good live as on record but this would not have been their call.
They all did that back then. It was too difficult to play in front of an audience and on TV without more control over ambiance on talk shows.

I sense that Robin, were he still with us, would have zero fucks to give about this assessment. Seriously, if you are a woman and you looked at Robin Gibb here and saw a nerd, may I recommend, as a human being who wishes all others of my race to be happy, see your doctor because there is a problem with the blood flow to a part of your anatomy that would be impolite for a stranger to mention.
