In response to the police sealing Local Government Councils in Rivers State after he declared the seats of chairmen loyal to Wike vacant and inaugurated new council heads, Rivers Governor Fubara when he removed Nyesom Wike’s ally and announced a new Chairman of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council, hinted at political interference in his state from the federal government in Abuja.
This statement by the Governor of Rivers State supports what his counterpart, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, said about the armed forces only obeying orders from Abuja. Lawal noted that the title of governor as chief executive officer is merely formal, as governors don't have full control of security forces.
