Silly people keep twisting the law becos of Wike
The Nigerian 1999 constitution section 7 states that the creation of a local government council must be headed by a democratically elected chairman or chairperson at every given time for a local government council to 'exist'.
And in this case, their tenure expired on 17th June,but a democratic election to the offices have not been held meanwhile the state assembly has elongated their tenure for six months.......... which the state assembly has power to do.The most honorable thing gov.fubara should have done was to do an election into those offices before their tenure even expired at all,he shouldn't have waited till their tenure expired,so according to the Nigerian constitution,they are still democratically elected council chairmen which their tenure has been elongated by the state assembly.
Mind you,I'm not supporting any fractions,I am just stating what the constitution says!

Because another election has not been taken place does not mean you will now extend your tenure. What does the chairmen wants to stay back and do that they have not been able to do within their time frame.
