No you dont shoot with your laces all the time. Laces is for a more powerful shot but low. The kick you need to use most of the time is with the big bone above your big toe. Try to aim for the center of the ball to reduce backspin. You can also shoot with the inside of your foot for more accuracy but do it hard. Your passing foot is also good for finishing. And you pass with the inside. You can also pass with your shooting foot but thats for crosses etc..

The majority of the game still is rather basic. I think all players should've have the basics under their belts around 20 in total that build a core foundation. There are loads more of course but that's a good rounding for all players.
