    I can’t thank you enough!
    My buddy has an ‘02 Dyna Low that he bought (had been sitting a few years) that wouldn’t idle without the choke. Even when it was running, it idled rough, it cut off if the rpms got low, and it backfired constantly.
    Took apart the carb and cleaned the jets just how you explained. The bike runs like brand new!
    Thanks for your video!

    Just wanted to give thanks, Bobby. I have a 2000 Dyna Wide Glide which I haven't rode much in the last couple of years. When I went to go for a spin a year ago it was running just like yours, backfiring, popping, hard to start and the choke needed to be on at least 3/4 for running. It's never been like this before. Rode for a couple of miles and gave up. I asked some bikers buddies about it but no answers. My son said to keep putting additives in the gas. His Harley had almost cleared up after 5000 miles. What? 5000 miles? No way. Took it out once more a month ago. Same situation of course. Then I saw your video.
    I followed what you had done. Great pics and details. After cleaning the jets, the bike started up and ran just like it used too. Choke was completely off in less than a minute. Took it for a ride with no popping or backfiring. Wow. Thanks again for your video. I'll definitely be watching out for letting any of this funky gas sit around in any equipment I own.

    so i was afraid to mess with mine, but i did. man the JET was GUNKED UP SO BAD...mine sat for 8 years in a open car port but now it is running after cleaning all the jets, the carb, all if the bits n bobs. it will even idle with nasty gas. THANK YOU FOR THIS.

    Thanks for the video Bobby! Clear and to the point, great job. Anyway I spent some time last night and cleaned my carb to resolve the choke/idle issue. The slow idle jet was the problem with my bike, main passage blocked. Used combo of carb cleaner and tapping on bench to clear blockage, did not insert anything to push material out. This jet is very small. I did use your towel/mirror configuration to view/disassemble the bowl. This was also a time saver. Good stuff all around, thanks again.

    Last week I took apart the carb on my 1997 Softail and cleaned up everything. I put it back together and it still wasn't right. I saw your video and it jump started my brain. I recleaned the carb and this time I didn't forget those little holes on the sides of the tube. Now it runs like new again. Thanks

    I just bought a 2002 FLSTC with the same problem. The newest bike I ever had was my 1972 FLH with fixed jet Bendix corroborators. My other bikes were early pans and flat heads so I had no experience with the new carb on my 2002 Harley. This helps thanks.

    In my case, the no idle situation was 100% contributed to the "slow jet" as you call it; pilot jet is what it's called in my manual. I cleaned the jet holder and the main jet, not knowing about the pilot jet. After taking them out again, and removing the pilot jet, it was stopped up exactly as you had stated in your video. Ran a piece of steel tag wire through it, installed all the jets, and after filling the carb bowl, she fired right up, and idled perfectly. Thanks for the video!

    Thank you Mr. Bobby, I have a 2003 100th Anniversary Edition Heritage Classic with only 21,000 miles and only turns on with the choke out halfway but if I turn the throttle it'll stall immediately. I introduced 2 ounces per gallon of Sea Foam Cleaner into the gas tank to stabilize the new premium gas I added so maybe it'll clean the carburetor too as it runs. I noticed the gas throttle cable is not tight near the fuel adjustment screw area. Will the small jet holes clear up with Sea Foam gss additive?

  • @marvelharris9540
    @marvelharris9540 Před 5 lety +3

    Your bike has a dyno jet kit installed by the look of that part number 47.. stock it will have many more holes in it.. not just the two you have in yours. something to consider as these kits have been known to cause problems and poor gas mileage.

    So I'm having a similar issue but not quite like this, I have a 97 fxdwg it was sitting for maybe a week due to bad weather, I took it out for a ride when I got back i let it idle for a little then it started to idle down and back up again then it was riding rough and needed constant throttle(so pretty similar to this now that I'm typing it), got home went over a few things that checked out, got to the carb when I took the air cleaner off it helped a little with idling down then up, I'm 99% sure its gunk in the jets like this, just wanna confirm my suspicions with someone

    Not much help if you don't put the year model. have an 03 sporty 883 w/FI and a choke, won't run without choke on. Would be a HUGE help if you actually said the year, that way we could determine carb type, etc.
