To all saying Franklin was never a president of the US. He was actually a president - of Cleveland, which was considered a Commonwealth before US independence, until 1788. In his time, there was no USA. He as a founding father paved the way for the establishment of the US and the subsequent 1st president, one year later in 1789. This was obviously George Washington.

The studs on the front pockets was devised or suggested by J W Davis to prevent the pockets from wearing out too quickly. I am led to believe that it was a suggestion by Davis's wife.
