  • In the second of a two-part series on bird watching in Colombia, world-traveling This Birding Life podcast host Bill Thompson, III, travels to the Caribbean lowlands near Camarones to visit stops along the Northern Colombia Birding Trail. Bill interviews three Colombian guides and three of our host's travel companions to get stories about the challenges and thrills of bird watching in Colombia. We also hear a bit of folklore regarding the story behind the vermilion cardinal's bright plumage, explained in Wayuu mythology. Finally, local guide Angel "Neke" Ortiz Menenses shares his full, tragic birding origin story.
