After 33 years of heavy drinking, I'm 3.5 years sober and life is sooo good now. There's no looking back what so ever.

I'm 63 and after nearly a half century of drinking finally decided enough was enough. 6 wks sober, the cravings have been minimal but I seem to have unsettled a whole lot of heartache. When on my own I feel down, tearful, drained. Keep saying to myself that this too will pass.

Coming out of the proverbial sober closet was one of the best things I could have done for my sobriety. And I came out with a bang. I told everyone I was sober. I made a CZcams channel telling my whole life story. I even am getting tattoos that symbolize my battle with addiction. It was the single most freeing thing I've done. And yes, my life is way better, happier and more fun nowbthatbibdontbdrink and don't feel like death warmed over every morning. On top of it all, I remember everything. I dont havebto wonder what I did, who I have to apologize to or what lie I gotta keep up. Thanks for these videos, they really help.

I am 22 years old with ADHD and a long line of family before me addicted to substances especially alcohol.
When I turned 21 I didn’t see much of an issue.
However after a year of being 21 and even now at 22 I see very scary problems arising.
I drink every single day and when I do drink I’ll drink everything in sight till I get sick or run out.
Tonight especially after pouring a drink I decided to try and help myself. (I sipped it and realized I wasn’t getting drunk and it felt like too much to get drunk nowadays).
In the past year I have managed to decide to only drink on weekends or my off days but that slowly turned into drinking the night before my day off or “until I run out of alcohol” and not buying more.
Like described in your video from a year ago I eventually turned back to drinking everyday.
I think my biggest worry is that I’m only 22 with a long life ahead of me, I’d be lying if I said drinking wasn’t fun. I just fear that going 80 more years without alcohol sounds tough.
Still, I want to quit and look forward to your future videos to help console me. I really do want to quit forever.
    Keep up the great content!

I’ve just started watching your videos. I have a loved one who has had a problem for around 15 years, who is now living with me. We have just gone through a particularly bad period, I’m learning how to handle this loved one. Thank you for your information, there are so many people who give there advice who seriously don’t understand the situation like it’s so easy. They really don’t understand what’s it like.

Hello Amber. There are different types of fun. In my view, sober fun is more subtle and calm but just as enjoyable.

Encouraging video for those with AUD and their families. I quit smoking after 35 years and part of my motivation was how my body /health would change in the following weeks/months/years. That was 14.5 years ago. I can relate a bit to some of the comments as I thought I would crave cigarettes for the rest of my life. If I lived to my 80s that seemed too incredibly long to tolerate. But I haven’t craved cigarettes at all and have never regretted quitting. LOVE all your videos! I feel so blessed to have found your channel.

I used to have a really severe addiction to alcohol and went to rehab. I have not quit drinking but I have more control over my drinking habits. I want to someday be completely sober but it will take some work.

I called a wellness check on my husband (separated). He invited me over, but then when I got there his car windshield is bashed in and he is not answering the door or phone calls. WTF.
    Now he’s mad at me

I don't drink. I'm weening off methadone after 23 yrs. Recently I've started using cocaine. If I had help with my housework I'd have no problem. Any suggestions. I have a 15 yr old. She's a good girl and knows nothing. I should add I'm down from 85 to 7 mgs. Taking it slow. I have no help & I hate myself after I use the other stuff.
