yes, pirc is playable but black doesn't have obvious ways to equalize if necessary as in the sicilian where black can equalize with d5, the pirc is a very risky defense but can be very dynamic and double edged even tho white has the space advantage. The cool thing about the sicilian is that black plays c5 early on so black can trade the white's d4 pawn. In pirc and modern, when play plays c5 white can just play d5 and play a closed game with more space
