Hey 2 things... I left this striper on for 45 min and used a suface cleaner connected to a 1800PSI electric power wash. boarded looked brand new. The surface cleaner was the MVP.

My guy! Your doing it the hard way.. roller it on wit a fluffy paint roller , let it sit for 20min while keeping it damp, power wash it off and you got yourself a new deck!

I'm not sure if that would have done it, but I am going to try something soon and I'll probably make another video. Thanks for the suggestion though. Maybe I should have gone harder with the pressure washer but I was trying to avoid that.
Exactly how I did it… roller, set a timer, used a scrub brush on a broom stick. Rinsed with water and then went onto step 2. Pretty sure you didn’t read the instructions.
He needs to get a real pressure washer first.
Just used the same stuff and it works but you have to do multiple times and run a power sander as well. One mistake i made was letting it dry too much. It needs to stay wet and also recomend using a pressure washer to pushboff the old stain and the cleaner or it will dry on the board.

I have several layers of stin and paint on my deck I used this product and you're right it wouldn't have done much but I have a 3000psi pressure washer and paired with that it takes it up pretty good. Just don't get too close
Just a regular 3/8 inch roller would work better for applying that specific product. The directions are printed on the container.

It really depends on the current stain of your deck, I used a paint roller, scrub and power washer, and in some areas the stain didn't come off.
There is no avoiding sanding before a new coating.

What a lot of work. Why not just paint over it instead? My little tiny deck/rear entry steps is older and they recommend using solid color stain/paint for older decks. Why inhale or touch all that toxic stuff that then goes into the environment?
We, well my wife :), prefers the natural wood look. To be honest I do as well. The stripping takes it back to it's natural look then from there you can do a clear stain. I have a video coming soon I ended up sanding the entire deck to remove the blotches and it looks great so far.
Stuff works great if you keep it wet with stripper for twenty minutes. Use a roller and keep it wet then pressure wash. Looks almost brand new.
Thanks for the info. I bet it also depends on what type of stain you had on there. I thought mine would have been on the easy side to remove.
@@goodlifehacker I spoke too soon, I did part of the deck and It did a good job with just the pressure washer but I did end up having to scrub the knots and stubborn spots.
@@SketchybrainDthat sounds too familiar. I have another video coming where I used all types of sanders on it and got it all stripped down good. It was painful to get all the spots completely out. After this I don't have the heart to stain it again with anything but a clear stain plus we like the weathered wood look. My main concern is just to prevent water and sun damage going forward.
@@goodlifehacker lol, yeah it’s my dads deck and the plan was to strip it and use a solid color deck coating he heard was good. I got a text from my dad saying he changed his mind after seeing it dry and wants to clear it now. So I’ll be staining his deck every other year on top of the rest of the upkeep on his house.
Hello there - may i ask what other stripper eould you suggest to use against colored stain/paint to get them removed?
Hi I will be trying out various sanding options soon. I know from my previous deck boards that had a solid stain I could not get it off with the stripper or with sanding. I hope you have better luck. Try a small spot and see how it goes.
Can this stain remover also remove BEHR transparent oil based stain & smell ? Also, can I use plastic sheet to cover anything below the deck ?
I am not sure as it didn't do a great job of removing this one and I would think oil based is stronger. A plastic sheet might work maybe do a test with just water to ensure it is a good cover before doing the real job.
Would Javex work just as well then power wash?

You can’t emphasize enough the importance of shaking this product up. I made the same mistake and discovered just how much this stuff settles on the shelf.
Back in the before all the environmental crap behr was a good stripper, last time i used i might have well just used water. I would not use this product
