Welcome back and absolutely another spectacular beautiful shooting adventures and a very interesting video to watch .. thanks
Great video Matt and Dane
Thanks 👍
Awesome video Matty its so hard to loose such fine calves at this stage after a successfully weaning theirs always something to set you back but I'm sure if anyone can figure it out it will be you with such knowledge of cattle
Well done on the big order of maths Dane absolutely delighted for you
Really enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next
Best wishes from Ireland 🇨🇮
So sorry for loss . Yall have done all you can, but mother nature , had other ideas . Keep at it !!! I am pullen for you !!! ( from Texas)
Greetings from south central Nebraska! Glad I found your channel. We started bale grazing our sheep last winter and love the results and fuel savings. Good luck on the mats, wish we all had dads like you!
You got that right, you just never know what you’re going to get hit with when raising cattle
That feed pusher wheel looks like it works good. Hopefully you guys have better luck with the cattle.
Thanks
Hang in there buddy you’re not alone… it’s tough
Thanks
We got one calf on its side in the bedding too in that cold weather. Found a bit of a hole I guess. But for having lows in the -40s and windchills in the -50s, we came through fairly unscathed. This new equipment sure doesn’t like cold weather. Especially if it has DEF.
Ya Iam realizing that need a heated shop😡🥶
That’s the best a man can do is check em often then go check on them again! I bet your on the right track in way a thinking about a possible bacterial growth in the silage, Glad to hear that farm supply will be selling those Mats for the Cobett waters! ✌
Thanks
We love your channel and have tried several of your ideas on our place in Wyoming. With the problem with the calves brain swelling try some dexamethazone, we have used it after a hard birth on bull calves and they bounce right back. This year, we Had two steer calves out of the blue get abcess in that area, cost us a vet visit and almost watched the vet barf which was worth the trip.
That is awesome!
Thank for the video Matt and Dane I am not sure how the marlo cab heater system works but I had a 1963 ford truck I put a recirculating heater hose heater on it with a check ball. It would heat the anti freeze up and push it throw the header core to the engine below the thermostat back to the heater core cab and engine always warm and ready to go even in the coldest weather. these recirculating hose heaters can be found at any automotive supplier.. Like the way you have your watering systems set up. Glad to see that your mats selling good for you Dane great use for the old tires. Guys love to watch your videos and all the ranch made inventions you guys make like the tire feed pusher idea.
Thanks for the idea and thanks for watching
On those calves, I'd consider, given the harsh conditions, that they might have a vitamin or mineral deficiency.
Something to look into would be thiamine deficiency. It can also cause very similar symptoms to what you're experiencing in the sick calves you showed on your video. We ranch up in Alberta and have seen calves present very similar to this. In our case the thiamine deficiency was caused by a mineral imbalance of high potassium.
Thank you we are working with the vet and he mentioned that exact thing
Glad to see him standing in the corner lol
Thanks 😊
Enjoy watching all the different innovative ideas you all have. Keep up the good work. Stay warm. Also how does the sump pump in water tank work when it gets really cold? Thank you.
Sump is down in the water haven’t had any problems from cold
I like how you improvise and made that spinning tire to move feed up against the cement feeder. Question: you have mentioned Jim’s place numerous times in videos. Who is Jim and how far away is it from your place?
He’s a neighbor if you go back to our haying videos you will see him they go south in winter his place is just a mile away thanks
Hope for better luck soon!
Thank you
Thunderhill, just a few miles from me!
Good guys
Could it be polio? The other cause could be Advanced Coccidiosis. We used to run into that starting this time of year. The most effective/Acute treatment was Tetracycline IV, and make sure all the calves eating silage get a a high level of Rumensin.
Best of luck!!
good video
Thanks
Great Vid! Sorry to hear about your health issues with calves. Would you recommend a creep feeder to someone who runs a herd of only 22 cows and calves a year?
I would say a Vern’s calves seem to really start easy with them good luck thanks for watching
@@Ranchingsodak thank you! sure appreciate it!
Lost a couple when we started calving there was still a few those damn black headed buzzards from Mexico around. They were harassing the cows while they were calving and calves ended up dying broke my heart!
Hang in there
sorry for the losted calves😔
